  1. Thanks all for looking in.Time taken is never wasted.
  2. Thanks Sammy. It is still a mystery to me how four little tiny thin things like those can do that amount of work.
  3. Crumbs! That looks rather busy. Good to see you're still at it.
  4. That's quite an imposing lump.I like that,looks a treat.
  5. G'day Chums, Please bear with my lousy photography. This came my way a month or so ago,I fancied a change from my usual fare and this seemed ideal. The kit is well thought out, well moulded and very crisp. The Caunter colour scheme presented it's own challenges, but nothing a bit of digging couldn't sort out.Although he doesn't know it Mike Starmer was very helpful on this subject, having read some of his various jottings around these forums.I followed his paint mixtures as best I could and came up with a result that I find very pleasing. I went for the individual track links instead of the vinyl ones provided, not as masochistic as it seems, and the 5 hours or so spent preparing, assembling and painting was well worth the effort for the end result.I'll not mention the half an hour spent with the carpet monster after I dropped the container holding the full set of prepared bits for one side. I painted the fuel cans red purely for a bit of colour. The major paintwork was airbrushed, being as I acquired one recently.I'm not sure if I've overdone the dusty weathering though. I hope this passes muster, enjoy.
  6. G'day Mike, This is your site, what you say goes. I'm struggling with the new appearance and operating. The old setup was wonderfully simple and more inviting for me. Sorry to be a stick in the mud. When I can find the financial means to contribute I will.Adverts are the last thing we want. All the best,Alex.
  7. G'day Chums, Sorry Troy,I've just dug out my built Hasegawa Car Door variety. While my paint job ain't spectacular there is no sign of engraved panel lines around the fishplates over the tail end transport joint. All the best,Alex
  8. I pinched this from somewhere, this is not mine.Would look rather good though.
  9. Mr Muscle oven cleaner will cause you no problems with the plastic.
  10. Always fancied their 1/48th Etendards.Goody goody.
  11. My Dad had the same call.I was only 3 years old at the time so I don't know for myself. Elements of 6 and 41 Squadrons were sent, the agreement in the Mess at the sharp end was that they were known as The 641st Tactical Fighter Squadron. Rick Groombridge told me about that. My Dad didn't see it through,my Mother had a problem causing my Dad to endure his only trip in a C130 after being recalled home bally sharpish. Names you might remember; Danny Lavender Forbes Pearson Brian Lucas John Constable Jim Jackson (possibly)
  12. I'm sorry to hear that.My Dad was the GLO for Shiney Six at the time,he too would have been there in his own capacity. He was known as The Pink Panther.
  13. Does he remember The Pink Panther?
  14. Thin wire for me.Saves all that messing about.
  15. G'day wellsprop, Humbrol 30,for my entire modelling career,is closer to an RLM colour than any BS381\c offering.I only understood this recently. When Humbrol took on the Airfix paint line back in 1982 or so I think a few things were lost in translation. For years there were equivalents quoted that, although not accurate, were the meat of the conversion charts provided in the kits. Kids like me knew no better and followed these religiously.I was so pleased when I found Humbrol 163 and 164. Some Humbrol colours are still valid matches for RLM,ANA and BS381 amongst others, some are not. This continues to be discussed at length around here regularly. The Vulcan,in keeping with its role in life, obeys its own rules on colour and markings and equipment fit.A good photo is your friend.
  16. G'day Decoman, Green-Humbrol 163 Dark Earth-Humbrol 29 Humbrol 116 doesn't have the magenta hue of the 163 green. The current issue of 29 seems a little dark to me but nothing a tiny drop of white wouldn't sort out. All the best,Alex.
  17. Double Cool and Huge Thumbs Up! I like that, corking job old chum.Well done.
