  1. After a first glimpse some critics: -missing of a turned metal pitot which should be mandatory at that MSRP. -deficits in the instructions (missing clear advices for tiny parts, absence of steps e.g. mounting of nose gear constr.), must be overworked completely. -missing of a conventional hood which is preferred by quite some modellers. Otherwise it looks to be a GREAT kit.
  2. In stock @ MBK www.modellbau-koenig.de/Flugzeuge/Flugzeuge-1-48/Moderne-Flugzeuge-ab-1945-1-48/NATO-Flugzeuge-ab-1945-1-48/Grumman-F-14-B-Tomcat
  3. .....and the double, tripple, quadruple effect in mind. Meng, Takom, Trumpyboss & co.LTD lining up ?
  4. No photo: The fit of the buddy parts was less than mediocre and after the the first priming and sanding. the surface of the HB parts revealed a quality comparing to 3rd class garage kits of the 1990s.
  5. To adopt the HB part to the "Meng system" with metal pins and polycaps I prepared this with the help of some millimeterers of sprue and a drill. then well secured.
  6. Neither the Meng nor the Hasegawa kit offer this option. But HB does, and this with double parts. An alternative would have been a resin set. The attachment points of all three kit parts have the same distance between them. This eases a bit.
  7. Quite a lot of SHs are around in the "4 tanker" configuration with an IFR-Buddy under the centreline pylon.
  8. mentioned along the P-40 series: L-39 (supposingly in 72nd), A6M5 soon, to be followed by the long awaited Mezek, then Mustang III/P-51/B/C, a "repacked" Su-25 (brand ? scale ?). This is not nothing.
  9. The ADIDAS stripes on the fuselage are from a Two Bobs decal sheet, the ones on the tank as said before from my Schmincke stock. The lighter grey to the front is a mixture of Schmincke 28700 Lichtgrau and one of my self mixed RLM 02 tones. Schmincke Lichtgrau is appr. like RAF MSG. The mixing ratio is 3:2. The rear stribe is (one of my two interpretations of) 36118. And for the next Bounty Hunter project, just because of the flag of my Federal (home) State of Schleswig Holstein:
  10. The light and dark spots were produced by kasking off with a liquid mask. For that I use Gouache (Turquoise). After spraying over the item is put in a simple water tub. Schmincke colors are immdiatly dry and the water doesn´t harm the adhesion of the paint. So the whole procedure can be done without any interruption or hasitation.
  11. While looking around for tank markings on aftermarket sheets I found out that they are as numerous as gold nuggets in Thames River. A n old Afterburner decal was offered on evalbay for € 55.-. A bit too much for my taste, so I had to make it on my own. This is my helper: Schmincke (brand name) Aeroclor colors, fine artist airbrush paints. I mix all required tones on my own, now about 100 in my stock.
  12. The top one is a clean one from the Meng kit, the two lower ones are for an upcoming Hasegawa model.
  13. Fuel tanks on the SH are rather prominent. So I found it rather ineristing to replicate some of the styles found on various internet sites.
  14. IInfofrog stopped his very competent and instructive SH thread in autumn last year. www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235114770-fa-18f-meng-148-scale/page/2/ I would like to continue as the Super Hornet is on my bench, too. I experienced some difficulties with copying pictures into this place. I hope everything will work fine now.
  15. just be happy with the announcements.
  16. Please, read the editorial !!!!!!!!!!!! (...and still no 262 / S-92)
  17. Riveting Might be a challenge for the 3D-printing scene to "re-construct" the outer skin parts tracing all the marks left from Mr.Riveter and to change them into positive "realistic" representations. All this in high qualty resin (medical/industrial resin). A second challenge might be the incorporation of clear sections of the airframe (comparable to Tamiya`s effort with the Storch). ???
  18. I only wish there was time to improve/correct the design of the windshield clear part, esp the bordering on the sides/flanks where the clear part meets the tin of the airframe. As far as I know only Tamiya solved the problems in this area with an integral clear part with their 1/48 Phantom (as with their Tomcat and the upcoming GWH Tomcat). The tin is leaning on the clear part and the windshield is NOT sitting ON the airframe. All this was already discussed here in the discussion of the ZM F-4 with marvellous input from Jeffrey. I wonder if the 3D experts will be willing and able to produce surrogates in Tamiya style for the thousands of Hasegawa/Academy and Meng kits sleepiung in our shelves. Appart from this critics sincere respect and hopefully a great success for this ambitious project!
  19. hmmmmm hmmmmm Apparently the main canopy has to be glued into the framing from the inside. The conventional solution will or would be preferred by quite a lot of mates, right?
  20. Our beloved models are categorized as "toys". But toys do not fall under the sanctions against the RF.
