  1. It is a nice little model, and the fit is pretty good for a sub. Good job there! Staffan
  2. Very nice and clean buld Phil, as usual. Just got my KA wooden decks for my Revell Bismarck, now if only the weather would stop being so nice so I could start working on that instead of all the home stuff. Staffan
  3. Light grey Styrene, took a generous amount of filler around the bow, I'm afraid no images exists, got hooked on the size and beauty of the fat lady. Does look good with four black nuances though, stille not done, my wife shanghai'ed me for a B-17 build. Staffan
  4. Got the 1:144 scale USS Seawolf from Trumpeter, would be a shame to say "Hey it fits"... but alas, here is what I have done so far: hull assembled, sanded down, sanded down and sanded down... then a slab of filler and yes... a little sanding. sail and fins slapped on, propulser mounted, ESM, radio and snorkel masts added, other apertured filled and yes... sanded. black added for the keel (USS Seawolf was the first boat to break with the usual red anti fouling paint after her beta cruise) used Gunze H77 tire black, then top hull painted Gunse H12, bow painted a mix of Gunsze H2 and H12 to give rubber effect, propulser painted and shroud painted internally metallic black. 5. oh no not another sub.... well yes off course it is another sub.... postman delivered a lightly squashed parcel here today and a padded envelope... I tore the stuff open and was pleased to see my order from Flory with the washes and the thin sanding sticks plus the model of the USS Virginia from Hobby Boss curtesy of White Ensign Models. I took a break from the USS Independence and immediately got to grips with the Virginia class SSN... took quite a bit of sanding to get rid of the worst raised details and then toning others down. cemented the hull added the sail and rudder + stabilizers, smacked on the PE and then the Photonics and masts, then to the painting area, first a charcoal layer and then masking off on with the black, then painting the propulser and readying the shroud to be fixed. but a few images, sorry for the grainy quality though, lighting was bad. I'm getting my pleasure back in modelling something that had been gone for a few years, and I seem to be completing stuff now. Thanks for watching. Staffan
  6. All good advice, I have been sanding mine as a man possessed, and as you stated the fit of the parts were truly great, another no filler sub... great to see a bubblehead here! thannks for the input and advice, I dare think about the noiselevels thes boat would have without the anechoic tiling. 7. I think this is a litle gem of a kit, kinda got me fired up for modelling again. model went together without a hitch, no filler needed and seams was taken care of by filing sanding and polishing, was good fun with a two year old kid asking questions while it was being worked on. painted overall black, didn't do any fancy tiling effects since this was just a swift project. Next project USS Forrest Sherman DDG-98 unless my WEM order shows up and I get to fool around with USS Independence, USS Virginia (Will be made as USS Texas) and the huge 1:144 USS Seawolf Staffan edited, photo re-sized and added
  8. Looks really god Paul, it looks to be of the same quality as their 1:350 offering of the Bismarck. I might have to get one for the stash. Staffan
  9. Great build and a cool kit, I have an -A2 SEP I have been working on and off on, same issue with the fiting of the upper hull, and some fiddling was needed for the hatches on the engine deck. I really like all the stuff that is included by Dragon in these kits (tow bar, oil pans, exhaust gas deflector and the likes) Staffan
  10. From what I have been able to figure out it is because the 120mm is a smoothbore weapon and the terminology changes the word, that is the best reason I have been able to dig out, I'm fairly certain someone at Tanknet or at the steelbeasts forum could offer a better explanation. naval terminology would also label the 16" guns on the likes of the Iowa's as "Rifles" again just terminology. I know it isn't much but it is my best explanation Cheers Staffan

    F-22 Raptor

Bought one from Relish (Thanks Graham) plus the PE set (Yeah nice touch Hase please bleed us when we buy your products! ) I was pleasantly surprised the details are extremely well done and from a few photos I have seen of the raptor the surface isn't too shabby either, a bit heavy but not excessive. Great review Mike! Slainté Staffan
  12. Just a few minor things Mike, [nitpicking cap on]: the Coaxial MG is a 7.62 M-240C (Or as the brits know it GPMG aka Gympy) to make an AIM you'd need to modify turret baskets, and also change the guntube from the 105mm M-68 (Actually a licence produced british 105mm can't remember the british designation, but same gun on the Leopard 1) to the M-256 (The Rheinmetall L44 gun) which is a 120 mm smoothbore with a bery different tube and bore evacuator.[nitpicking cap off] Thanks for the review Mike, good read. 13. They are fine and crisp, 2 options are included, "Skull and crossbones", or 17-967 from 967's Det 1 deployment (I will use the latter). They are thin and up to medern standards, they were printed last year when the set was reissued, no old decals were with the kit. Staffan
  14. Just a few images of the current project (just to get back in the saddle, havent built anything for 7 months, reason being a little 1:1 scale homo sapiens created by my wife and I) Early in the build side view, I skipped the decals for the interior and hand painted some instruments, reason being the extremely limited visibility to the cockpits on the Habu It even looks fast standing there. Note to the photographs, they were taken with my phone so quality is thereafter As a bonus, I have just completed the den used by my wife and I for modelling I thought I'd share what it's like (I do know the walls are a bit bare and I have been asked by a fellow IPMS denmark member why there weren't any IPMS related posters) Staffan
  15. That looks great Phil, very good job. Where you planning to start building Prinz Eugen anytime soon? or did Hipper satisfy the eagerness for heavy cruisers for a while? Staffan
  16. Very nice progress so far Phil, looking forward to more shots. The german Hipper class cruisers were massive ships, and pretty well designes aswell, the lines are beautiful! Staffan
