  1. Hi all, am currently building the hawk T1 of 19 ® sqn, the spitfire anniversary scheme. I'm building her with the flaps down, but have hit a snag- i'm not sure what colour they are on the parts you don't normally see... any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Also, any photo references would really be brilliant!!! Matt
  2. superb! The weathering on this is spot on!
  3. Superb mate! i'm currently building the same aircraft to go next to my 2008 display bird! if mine comes out half as good, i'll be over the moon!!!
  4. Thanks for your comments! really appreciated!!!
  5. Just one thing to note tho- the other aircraft on the xtradecal sheet is the 19® sqn spitfire anniversary one, in the dark green/dark earth scheme- just to muddy the waters further! Be prepared for a lot of filler around the back of the canopy- the wing root joins are appalling as well, where it meets the intakes... cockpit is a bit spartan as well- didn't have the courage to use a complete cockpit set- used some resin seats to improve this one, and the other will use the kit pilots to hide the basicness... All in all tho, it's not too bad, if you are handy with a bit of filler. if not, it's a good one to learn on! I like the fact you have the option to lower the flaps too- i didn't on XX325 as it would make things a bit tricky with the large underside roundel. The Xtradecal sheet has a LOT of decals on, and the red, white and blue lines on the side are your classic white first, then overlay the colour ones. another thing to note is the airfix red arrows kit has a misprint on the decal sheet, and several people have said that one or 2 have no white in them. i don't know if they've ever been reprinted tho. Also, the fact that the reds have a slightly updated design was the deciding factor for me. Thank you all for your comments! Much appreciated!
  6. Hi all! Many apologies for the delay in posting- been moving house and stuff, and have only just got our broadband up and running! have just finished this one, which kept me sane on those dark, internet free nights!!! i used a pastel wash for the white lines in the canopy, and the seats are resin ones from airwaves- highly recommended! Decals are Xtradecal. Panel lines highlighted with a lightish grey wash. Thank you for looking! Comments always welcome!
  7. Simply astonishing!!! I am watching with interest!!!
  8. Can't believe no-one's said the obvious munter of the aviation world- the clear hands down winner... the Westland Wyvern...
  9. That is beautiful! i have a stringbag in the stash, but am putting it off for a while! If it looks half as good as this, i'll be laughing!
  10. Lol! i'm definitely at Shoreham on the Saturday... I don't know about the sunday yet!!!
  11. A superb beast there!!! absolutely brilliant!
  12. i painted them on over the top of the codes in MSG colour. It was more like colouring in than anything else! Thank you for your comments! Bex- I'm probably gonna be there on the 30th actually as my bro is coming down and will be going with me Mind you, i am undecided about going for both days! If i do, i'll let you know! Matt
  13. I think i'm gonna have to put a poll in place at some stage! this one is the last one i'm gonna have time to build before i move, so there will be a small delay until that's all sorted! I do have one or 2 spitfires still to do- 2 v's, a ixc with engine kit, a 22/24, and a viii... plus a mustang... a kittyhawk... oh, and the hawk that i can't seem to get going on... oh, and the Tamiya Stringbag... i have a tiffie that i should do for my bro soon tho... and lots of 1:72s... I dunno!!!
  14. Cheers mate! I couldn't be bothered to mask them off in the end- i was feeling a bit impatient, so did them freehand. i am really pleased with how they came out! Dunno what to build next now...
  15. Hi all, I have just finished this hurricane- it is BD707, the one that crashed at the shoreham airshow on the 15th September 2007. I was there that day, and as such i wanted to do something to remember the pilot, Brian Brown, who died doing what he loved for the entertainment of others. For me this will serve as a reminder that what we take for granted at airshows, is what others cannot take for granted, and that is a smooth running, safe show. I have wanted to build this aircraft for a while now, and decided a couple of months that i should invest in the hasegawa hurricane. As a kit, it is a pretty good one. fit was mostly good, although there is a large lip on the underside where the wings meet the fuselage. I've done my best on it, and i know there may be a couple of mistakes in the paintjob, but i am happy with it. She now has pride of place on the television! I hope you like it! All creative criticisms greatfully received, after all, we all strive to improve with every build! Regards, Matt
  16. All i can say is that these are the mutt's nuts!!! I am otherwise speechless!
  17. I was building my PRXIX conversion, and had blocked off the back end of the cockpit so as to create the illusion of a pressurised canopy. i used revell Plasto, and it was only as i was photographing it that i thought 'i don't remember there being a thumb sized sink mark there?!' The air turned purple
  18. that looks to be a cracking start mate! Am watching with interest!
  19. Have been watching this one for a while now, and i am really liking it!!! The sand does look grey, until you actually do see it compared to the underside, and then it looks perfect! A really nice subtle preshade! Well done mate! Can't wait to see the brown and green on!
  20. here are the scores at the end of today's play. Raf roundel 1, Matt 0. one of the underside roundels creased up on me, and stuck to itself. i didn't half swear!!! next task is the codes- these will be painted on thursday or friday. Wish me luck!!!
  21. Thanks for the comments guys! i've just put the serials on in MSG for now, and will use them as a guide for painting, but thanks for the offer bex!
  22. Latest update! been unwell for the last few days so no real progress! Anyway, before that, corrected some paintjob issues, and have done some more painting, and am ready to start decalling today!!! cheers for looking! Matt
