  1. I did think of putting some snow on the tail as an experiment to see what happens!
  2. This is my Canberra finally completed. It was the subject of my first work in progress that can be found here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234994342-airfix-148-canberra-wip/
  3. Just about completed now just a few bits to add on. I put about 250 tonnes of weight in the nose and it still wasn't enough so have to use the wee stand/jack. As I was warned and never listened the decals although go on nicely are out of register. Brushed on some Klear before the decals as I can never get that stuff to spray. Weather very lightly as I believe they we're kept in good nick. All sealed up with W&N Satin UV varnish. Think I'm going to do a black Spitty next.
  4. Over the last few weeks managed to get it masked and painted. Have been using Tamiya and Aqueous paints. Ready for a coat of Klear and then some decals. Will be using the kit ones but replace the roundels with aftermarket stuff.
  5. Not done much for a while as it is a bit too cold in the garage for painting. Still, managed to get the Light Aircraft Grey on the undersides. I have just started using Mr. Hobby Aqueous, but found you really need some serious thinning before they spray. The finish is very good though. Now comes the masking part. Well maybe start tomorrow.
  6. The panels lines are quite big but the only ones I have filled are on the rudder. Not going to bother with the fuselage hopefully a few coats of paint will fill them up. Took me a while to get some good results to tell the truth. I would recommend trying on a test scrap kit first. I found best results from using low pressure and light coats. If goes on too thick seems to take ages to dry.
  7. Over the weekend I started to spray some of the new Vallejo Metallic aluminium on the tanks and bays, but was getting a lot of splattering. Wasn't sure what was wrong then this happened. My trusty old Aztek airbrush disintegrated (not the cats fault). I got myself one of them AB airbrushes recently so decided to give it a go. Was quite happy with the results as it's the first time I've had luck with these paints. Look a bit grainy in the photo but much better in the flesh.
  8. Thanks guys, I won't bother with any pre-shading and just use a light wash. Going to be using Gunze paints for the camo. One have the cats has just jumped on it and now something is rattling around inside. Hope it's just some of the weights.
  9. Primer on, fixed a few areas that showed up and then more primer. Need to sand it smooth now ready for painting. Not sure if I should have another go at pre-shading, never had much luck with it.
  10. Added the etch parts to the undercarriage doors. All ready for the primer. Juno wanted to start painting before it has had a coat of primer.
  11. Thanks for the tip, Just looked and it's WT319. Do you know if they always carried wing pylons? I think they sort of ruin the lines so want to leave them off.
  12. Time for an update. Done enough of the interior now, most of it can't be seen anyway. Here it's glued in place. Fuselage sides glued together remembering to fill it with weight. I used some round ferrite core from the inside of old monitors which were the same diameter luckily. The Pavla seat in place, One last photo before it's all hidden for good. I should have got the replacement canopy as the kit one is poor. But had already added stuff to the interior before a previous poster reminded me. Just need to paint and mask the wingtip lights then a coat of primer.
  13. Looks good. I took mine out of the stash only yesterday to start. Anything I should watch out for?
  14. I was planning to use the kit decals for the B(I).6 but have been told they're not very good. Looking at the aftermarket stuff there doesn't seem to be any. So will either use the kit ones or wait until it's released again and see if anyone doesn't need theirs.
  15. Wow, wish I'd have found this site at the start. I Have glued the 2 halves together already. Not sure how I'm going to add that secondary window now. It is very thick plastic and I'll probably mess it up somehow.
  16. Managed to get the wings together earlier this week. The intakes and exhausts were not a great fit. So I fitted the top half first and adjusted the bottom half and blended in.
  17. Have been trying to do the ejection seats this week.I am Using the Pavla one for the pilot and the kit ones in the back as they will not be seen that well. To the kit ones I added some solder for the top handles and used some yellow mod wire for the lower one. I tried to copy the Pavla one as best I could. At this point it was starting to do my head in. My eyes were straining and my hand was not steady so this is about the best I'm going to get them. Have now decided to make a start on the wings, big parts at least.
  18. Done some detailing on the sidewalls and added some more photo etch. The first aid kit was made with some blutac and painted beige. Might try and find a small decal to put on it. Highlighted some of the cables. Will add a few more its in the fuselage.
  19. Update time. Sprayed the interior with Vallejo black all ready to add the etch and some dry brushing. Photo etch added to cockpit My 2 helpers, and I suspect the main culprits for hairs getting stuck in the paint.
  20. I'll admit I have been using a variety of images. Some even have instruments and seats missing so have been improvising. The main source has been the B.2 from Tangmere. All sprayed black now so can't see anything.
  21. I have been using some photos as reference. But mainly I'm just make the larger boxes and trunking. Too make everything is just too fiddly for me. I got a load of evergreen strips of different shapes so not too much cutting.
  22. Added some details to the fuselage. Made a d'oh as I forgot about the instrument panel and it was catching when the sides are closed up. So had to trim a few details.
  23. I'd like to do the B(I).6 as it has the gun pack. None of the aftermarket ones do any. Maybe someone will when the kit is reissued
