  1. Hi guys, this year I am submitting a English Electric Canberra B[l]8 in 1/72 to the regional modelling competition in the Air Cadets However, I know that just a bog-standard oob build won't cut it, as I really want to win this year However I can't use aftermarket parts, but can scratchbuild whatever Apparently open panels earns points, so has anybody any ideas on what I can do in addition to open bomb bay? I have a week to do this, which when i'm off college is plenty of time for me (see my 1/48th Rafale in a day build ) Oh and I dont have an airbrush so it will be brush painted and must be a RAF strike scheme, but I do believe the one included with the kit is appropriate Any help, shots of open avionics bays etc etc would be a great help Thanks, James
  2. Thankyou Next step is detailing Now its proven itself
  3. It flies! In-flight pictures are here
  4. yeah hopefully it should Its just the basic outline i need to be visible, and its the contrast that does it Shame they didnt do a blue angels corsair that would be contrast
  5. Ah yes That looks good And its still scale
  6. Did they ever do A7's in that colour? I want to stay somewhat scale
  7. Hi guys Yeah, what happened was a torque roll into the ground yesterday, the wing came off as it was meant to, however the aft section was destroyed, much to my confusion Anyway, not to be deterred, i got up early this morning and set about repairing it, anyway 3 tubes of super glue and a lot of cursing later it was fixed Took it out to the field again, did all control checks etc and just went for it, threw it harder than yesterday and launched with less throttle to reduce the effect of torque roll ANd off it went! its fast, I'll say that Quickly becomes a speck in the sky so painting is definitely going to be needed in a higher vis paint than bare balsa
  8. Thankyou Ill post more pictures when my parts arrive from online
  9. Hi Bill This model is 26 inch wingspan and will use a 3 cell lithium polymer battery, 15A Electronic speed controller, and this http://www.giantcod.co.uk/a220814-1450kv-b...r-p-402432.html motor, mounted in a pusher configuration in the back Controls will be elevator, ailerons coupled with flaperons It's all up weight is looking to be about 380g, not bad for something this size This is how the aileron is actuated Linkage still to be attatched to the aileron itself Beginning of cockpit detailing, im going to use some enlarged decals for instruments etc Start of a bang seat Thanks for looking
  10. I can't wait to see it fly either Thankyou for your comments James
  11. Woo a reply! Someone is looking hehe Thankyou very much Its nowhere near as good as many other models on here, but i do try Got a little bit more done today, gave the bottom of the fuse a slightly bigger radius so its now more to scale in terms of roundness (if that makes sense) and also started to cover the fuse in tissue, ready for doping With the cockpit i think I will use one for the maiden flight etc to make sure it flies well and make another, more accurate and detailed one in the meantime if it's worth it
  12. Any comments/ constructive crticism please to make it more scale? (I cant change wing shape etc as it would affect flight ) Thankyou James
  13. Hi guys, just wanted to share my build of an A7-K corsair, its semi-scale as it will probably end up rc Here is what i've done up to now Cockpit is starting to take shape and will be more detailed if it flies well Here's how aileron servos would be mounted Its currently covered in tissue and dope and will be either painted by a rattle can or airbrush Thankyou for looking, more to come soon! James
  14. I think I had two coats of brushed humbrol enamel paint and one coat of Klear on this model If you look on the site sponsors you will find promodeller and you can find links to order their products I've been building on/off since i was about six It all started with a double pack of 1/72 mustang and me109 airfix models.... Thankyou for all the comments James
  15. Thankyou for your comments Billy, I think the trick to doing a quick build well is to not sit around waiting for parts to dry etc, to build other parts so that they will all be ready for final assembly at the same point Its probably the reason I have 30+ models on display and none in a stash (for 16 its quite a few models ) Cycerath, I used promodeller dark dirt wash Good stuff but definitely needs a good gloss coat in my experience, on matt coats it stains the paint a bit darker rather than just highlighting the panel lines Thankyou again, James
  16. Quick update, did a little bit of detailing on the cockpit, not quite perfect, but better than previous attempts I still need to detail the seats but they're just in place for photos Thanks for looking need to learn to make seat belts now
  17. Hi guys, Finally made a start on my christmas present New place for me to work too Anyway here's the little bit i've done tonight before watching the new series of Top Gear Did a tiny bit of scratch building too Thanks for looking everyone any tips on scratchbuilding etc would be highly appreciated James
  18. Thankyou That was one of the aspects of the build I wasnt pleased with at all, so thankyou I really would do much better with an airbrush
  19. No, they're proper ones unfourtunately We sit modular exams instead of just one large one Yeah the ASK sure is a pretty thing, certainly an unusual subject to build I would love to be an engineering officer in the RAF, but that isnt really possible atm, so i'm looking into other things now, even medicine Hopefully i'm clever enough
  20. Cheers kev1n Hopefully osmosis works between brains, pillows and paper I have 3 out of 5 exams out of the way now Only my chemistry evaluative and organic chemistry exam to go Chadwick , nearly finished the ASK 21 not much to go now
  21. I wish kits were that cheap now But I suppose its all relative, so hey ho I was shocked to find such an old kit tbh, I thought such a new cgi style box would have been coupled with at least a year>1990 kit. And they aren't exactly cheap! The full price of this was meant to be about £7! Luckily in the manchester branch they were reduced and buy one get one half price, so I got one for myself and gave one to F111-fan from this forum, who kindly gave me a Revell ASK 21 glider in return Thankyou for all the kind comments, I was dissapointed in myself with this kit, but it seems I did alright James
  22. Thankyou very much everyone Yeah, after building the superb Revell 1/48th Rafale, this seemed, lets just say lacking One thing is that I had got a smoother paint finish and overall surface on this. I didnt have the right tools etc though Cheers about the A-levels, got maths and general studies out the way, just got two chemistry exams and physics left to go My apologies Raif, I thought you were reffering to the front wheel I'll 'try' and fix this Yeah the one in Manchester had some of the starter kits in stock
  23. Hi No it's the other way round I found it odd too http://www.aviaworld.com/photo/Hellenic%20...%20-%20F-5B.jpg
