  1. The pilots location is still undecided Last night and earlier this morning I took a knife to the canopy and cockpit side and after much sanding and polishing to thin the canopy here's what I came up with Hope you all approve James
  2. Glad you all like it managed to acquire a spare canopy so I'll try splitting and see what I can do with regards to that I feel it needs something in the middle of the grass, something but im not sure what? James
  3. I've since taken off the aerial wire completely as I couldnt do any better I'm really glad I did stick with this, i know its nowhere near the level that many modellers on here post but it's much better than I expected it to be Here's some more pics Here's one just before i took the wire off James
  4. Ah mish we posted at the same time I used thin fuse wire , I'll go and try to stretch some sPrue now I have a he177 in progress as we speak James
  5. Thanks everyone managed to convince my dad that the sepia image was the real thing granted he didn't have his glasses on though so, other than the Aircraft being forced to land, what can the story behind the diorama be? I've had suggestions of animals? However I don't think they'll be the easiest to source ones that don't look like the aforementioned deer anyway Thankyou for all the comments, I think my modelling ability has really grown since joining these forums due to the help and advice of all the great members James
  6. I'm really glad you approve Warren I can't explain my appreciation for the parts Has anyone any criticisms they would like to offer? I want to make this as good as I can now I wish I had made a frame out of a harder wood now :/ James
  7. After receiving the vegetation kindly donated by Madmonk Hope you all like it! James
  8. They're its hooves it's perfectly unserious the way modelling is meant to be imo After I've gathered some more materials I'll see how it unfolds James
  9. I may have to get one too Normally they're quite cheap and turn out a treat! Well done on making it into such a nice model James
  10. Love the old matchbox kits It just doesnt get any better than three colours of plastic Excellent work and really looks fantastic I really need to get an airbrush May i ask what matt spray you used? James
  11. Warren you have a pm inbound and what damage could i show on the aircraft which would be the result of a fence collision? Would dry brushing silver paint chips onto the points of impact suffice ? How about a tree at the rhs which brought it ' completely to rest' Thanks for all the comments James
  12. I'll try and find one I did spot 1/72 pigs in modelzone a while back I need some shrubbery for the top left corner, and some generic people to fill in the middle space James
  13. Here you go Shrubs up here? I'm not quite sure this is what you all had in mind........ James
  14. Yeah I agree completely , I've since added a fence that it's pretty much crashed through pictures say 1000 words so I'll post some when I can I want to make some shrubs etc for on top of the raised portion I may buy a refuelling set or scratch build one and get some generic figures as emergency crew or bewildered locals thankyou for all the feedback this is turning out much better than I had imagined Thanks, James
  15. Replaced the pva with silicone, much better! Need to touch up the paint around the frame now though! got silicone and pva on it Hope you all like it! What else can i add to the scene? James
  16. I've set up a few small containers, one with silcone and the other with epoxy to compare results, i dont particularly want to spend any money on things such as yacht resin or EZ water :/ I happened to have some clear silicone i used in my aquarium and epoxy from my rc aircraft I'll let you all know how it gets on Can anyone think of any other objects that can be placed in the scene? Any spare 1/72 figures anyone would spare? Thanks, James
  17. Spitfire31- dont worry, you didn't And Billybookcase, thanks With so little spare time atm and no room to permanently keep any works in progress for any length of time ive got to be fast Of course, if i wasnt confined to a bristley stick I'd take a lot longer (probably look a lot better too ) James
  18. Here it is, post wood-paint That pva has shown no signs of drying may have to drain it if it hasnt set in a few days:/ James
  19. Here's what I mean by outboard flaps Hope you all approve and here it is sitting on a diorama (drying pva for water effect) Thanks for looking James
  20. Hi No, by outboard flaps I mention the ones positioned mid wing as from what i gather part of the radiator dropped down to make the inboard flaps the ailerons are still where they should be Pics to come (posting off iPod atm) James
  21. Hi guys Thanks for the tips and comments put a couple into action wrt exhaust stains and weathering , I also dropped the outboard flaps too pics to follow James
  22. Thankyou Yeah I'll be interested to see how it turns out too can always paint over it I found tonight that cheap artist acrylic matt black comes out nicely on models and then i thought about using a brown on the wood , and it's turned out quite nicely new pics to come tomorrow James
  23. Hi guys, I realise this is a bit late on in the build to be posting pics, but I would like to share the diorama I made today after noticing my shelves looked a bit bare with just the models I have no idea how the water is going to turn out, its just a layer of pva a few mm thick with a blue layer of paint underneath. The base is made of depron foam, and the sides are balsa with a layer of varnish. I need to add small details so this thread will document that Can anyone think of a story of why a Spitfire may be near a pond? Thanks for looking, James
  24. Thanks for the comments For 4 hours im quite pleased Here's a shot of the underside Has anyone any idea how I can weather the top side of this? I know it needs matting too, but the panel lines are non existant so what can I do to weather it? Thanks, James
