I started modelling around the age of 9 my first kit was an Airfix Sopwith Camel, no paint and stuck the markings on with tube glue!!! Spent some time in secondary school with mates building balsa control line and got halfway through a Gannet 5. I turned back to plastic whilst in the FAA on 849 Gannets again, then Wessex %'s whilst on 845. Didn't model much for the next few years until after I got married and then had some time in which to model. My wife suggested I purchase a model (silly aren't they sometimes?) after I looked in the local model shop window. That was forty years ago and I haven't looked back since.

Yes my interests have changed and I've dabbled in the dark side of cars and motorcycles but aircraft and helicopters in particular being my main interests plus X-planes, Fleet Air Arm and US Navy with the A-7 Corsair my favorite.

In the '80's I started ROTOTcraft after making the conversion for the Kaman HU2K-1 Seasprite for my own interest and then thinking it might have some commercial interest. Since that I've done a couple more, concentrating on the Wessex family, although my releases don't come at a steady pace.

I'm in my mid sixties now and enjoying my modeling more than ever but don't let anyone tell you that your eyesight is failing, just get a stronger pair of reading glasses!

Yes I belong to IPMS, joining IPMS UK in 1971 and then IPMS South Africa when we emigrated to SA in 1980, i'ts probably the best move any modeller could make.
