  1. That's a pretty damned good standard, I don't think you have too much to worry about! Only thing I might suggest is using some thinner cable for the lighting next time around - it seemed a bit bulky for a low voltage LED circuit and might make things a little easier for routing
  2. Not sure if you've spotted this or not, but the images for the advent calendar are still on the site.. Thought I'd make it a but easier to examine
  3. Yeah, then alter the Interceptor into a more realistic looking "model" too?
  4. btw, if anyone needs a reference shot for the Angels, here's a good one: Who's going to be squinting with a scalpel to carve the obviously generic RAF male pilot into a bonefide Angel?
  5. Stunning, a real work of art! I'd be very tempted to start rubbing oil into that prop
  6. A bit of gash polystyrene, some filler and a bit of flocking?
  7. As far as I'm concerned now, it's all done with black magic, lol Awesome work Oliver!
  8. I think this answers the question of "What is possibly beyond super-detailing?" The answer, Oliver's Hyper-Detailing Masterclass... Any more detail beyond this at this scale and you'll need a scanning electron microscope..
  9. I take it that this new line will soon be available at all the usual retail suspects?
  10. Damn, I hadn't realised - I'd just bookmarked his sr71 thread and kept revisiting it now and again, then he'd posted at the end of April mentioning that he'd binned it and was going to relax in Mexico for a while Here's his last post: Damn, that's pretty sobering knowing that he never got to do what he wanted, he died only a couple of weeks after
  11. There's a bit of software called hotspot shield iirc, which masks your IP via proxy - so you should be able to watch it okay with it - I've used it to view some "USA only" videos
  12. Today was mostly: Hawker Hunter, Alphajet, Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster, Tucano, Several Hawk T1's ( Oddly enough all in red, leaving smoke everywhere..) A few others.. Yup, it was air show day today in Lowestoft, sadly I was at work, although I was a damned sight drier, as it piddled it down all day pretty much..
  13. Umm, the 60's CVN-65 enterprise is the same ship as the one today - she's still the same size..
  14. Yep - they've got the stock though, the 20+ stock level is usually somewhat deceptive - the hase sea king AEW2 is listed as 20+, and they must have at least 100 kits on the shelf last time I looked..
  15. Indeed, that's the point I was making about the Model Factory Hiro kits (although I can't vouch for the quality in the way you can with the Akitsushima kit) I do think however, that some of the prices of modern 1/72 kits in general is reaching somewhat crazy levels, especially as that's the scale most kids start with.. I was having a look last night, and there was very little to choose from under Ā£10 for F- series planes, many manufacturers are creeping ever closer to Ā£20 :/
  16. Playing the "What's the most expensive kit Hannants have?" game Hasegawa wins again! http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/HALTD1 That Dora gun and the Spruce Goose 1:72 kit give it a good run though
  17. The crazy prices are those Tamiya partially built things: http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_inf...roducts_id=2734 Very expensive and none of the fun!
  18. Russ, MFH are all limited/special run resin, metal and rubber kits though? A hand-made oak dining room table set always costs a lot more than MFI/Ikea MDF jobbie
  19. I was gutted when he binned it, it was looking *so* damned good
  20. looks like you guys could do with upgrading your picture hosting service - all I'm seeing is "bandwidth exceeded" messages
  21. Link for Edgar's post for the lazy: http://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/enamel.asp?F_Railway=80 Interestingly enough, Tamiya's new Spitfire Mk.VIII has a colour which looks pretty close from an initial glance (Obviously there are probably issues around colour accuracy over the web from disparate sources) : http://www.tamiya.ca/6-70000%20series/60320_24.jpg & http://www.tamiya.ca/6-70000%20series/60320_30.jpg
  22. So, (and forgive me for being an ignoramus...) where would one use these colours? Could someone come up with a summary for the clueless?
  23. Have you asked Hannants if they'd do a bulk deal for you? Especially if all the folks interested in building lots of 1/72 hawks joined in? They might let you in on a trade account? (especially with all the other bits you'd all need..)
