Nice work there Mish

With the dive brakes all you need to do to close them and close the gap is to add shims of plastic card either end this sorts the problem out, also check the hinge where it meets the top wing some of the AM kits there is a section missing, just replace it with some micro rod and re-scribe the hinge lines

Mac you old sly dog, posting here
You just got to love what you have done with this model, got to be one of your best to-date
-
Lloyd, this is absolutely stunning.
Your use of alclads and paint work is fantastic
Awesome job
-
That engine looks great there Lloyd
-
Nice start there on the cockpit
-
Very impressive Mike
- how many parts make up that engine?Cliff
Hi Cliff
If you include the wire and the tape pieces for the clamps 64 in total
-
Lloyd, For us to get a head start on you would mean you not starting your build until one week before the build closed

Anyway looking forward to a great build from you
-
Looking forward to see how you tackle the camo on this one if you are doing the one on the box top
-
Can't wait to see how this one progresses

Sorry to here about the canopy, but it will still build into a nice model

Doing well there Mish, looks like I need to get my finger out

Well made a start on the build.
Always like to start with the engine when it's a radial

Are you going to leave the fuselage clear?
Hi Jason
No it will be painted, only got this kit of the Dauntless because the price was right on e-bay £35.00

My entry for the group build will be the Trumpeter 1/32 SBD-3, it will be finished as a aircraft from VS2 from the USS Lexington at the Battle of the Coral Sea.
This will be a duo build with Mish, who will also be building a SBD from VS2

Aftermarket part
Montex Mask
Yellowhammer decals
Big ED set
Mastercaster Wheels
Paint
Will either be Life Color or Gunze

Nice work on the pit there Peter as normal
Just noticed a couple of things you my be able to sort
The R-2800 engine has two ignition wires per cylinder front and back, not just the one
It looks like all of your squares on your cowling are different sizes, may just be the way you have take the photo, its just the on the decal sheet you posted up at the start of the build they all look the same size
-
Mac, that is NICE.

It is built as "Little Sir Echo II" Flown by Maj Russ Berg, 107th TRS, 67th TRG Middle Wallop, June 1944
Paint Mr Hobby Aqueous
Weathered with MIG Dark and Brown wash, MIG Smoke Pigment

Right, its done
The exhaust stains done
Propeller and hub on
Just a couple of finished shots the rest will be in the completed build section

-
Ok then just give an update before getting things finished and posting the completed build
Black invasion stripes painted on the fuselage and insignia unmasked
Fuselage stripes weathered
Undercarriage and bay doors fitted
Guns drilled out and fitted
Whip aerial fitted made from stretched spru
Some more chipping done round the engine cowlings
Well this is it now until the final photos in the completed build section

-
Ok, update on what I have got done today.
Decals on the model, weathered up the model before applying the invasion stripes.
I did this to show the difference between the original paint of the aircraft before the invasion strips were painted on, as there would be a big difference between the two.
Masked and painted the invasion stripes on the wings first.
I then masked up the decals on the fuselage, looking at the box art it shows one of the squadron code letters on the port fuselage as having been masked off.
I went looking for other photos of P-51 with invasion stripes and showed that the insignia and code letters had been masked off with the original fuselage color still showing behind them.
Masked up the fuselage sprayed the white, masked up for the black stripes that is how it is at the moment.
Will get the black stripes sprayed on tonight, and with a bit of luck get it completed tomorrow
