  1. The both of the side interiors are now almost completed, just got a few more control wires to add before I close it up.

.30cal is completed and the gunners position is painted but still needs the seat, seat belts an gunners rear support belt added.

    Radio painted and finished

After that going to try and make up the ammo rack out of PE plus the spare ammo cans.

  2. Hi Mike!

    To answer your questions :

    1. I brushed painted a coat of Klear for my gloss coat ( and just to clarify, the two pics you included in your quote where before the gloss coat ).

    2. I used Micro-Sol ( but not Micro-Set )

    3. I sealed the decals with a 2nd coat of Klear this morning ( the most recent pic - including the decals - was before I put the next coat of Klear on ).

I only had silvering on 3 decals, and only on transparent sections of those 3. I painted over the transparent parts with the blue paint and once I glossed it again it looks just fine, so I'm happy enough with that result!

I must say though, the Tamiya decals didn't go down as nicely as other ones. I found them to dry out and get brittle a bit. They were fine really, I just haven't seen other decals do that...

    Hi Jason

    1. Try using a rattle can spray, the best I have found is Mr Super Clear

    2. I have found with some Tamiya decals you need a stronger solvent if you can get it the best is Solvaset, if not get the Daco Decal set comes in three strengths

    3. Even sealed you can go back and put more solvent on, just get a pin and pierce the surface and put more on, not going to say it works all the time but it does sometimes

    hope this helps

    Mike

  3. Oh, I'm grateful for all advice and suggestions, thanks! I see exactly what you mean about the wires, and the next time I'm doing a radial engine I'll definitely give it a go! :)

Some progress on this, it's finally looking like a Corsair now that the paint is on. I always think painting the airframe is when the kit takes proper shape. Next steps will be the gloss coat and the decals, as well as working on the external stuff ( wheels / rockets etc. ).

    Need to ask

    1. what gloss did you put down before the decals

    2. what setting solution did you use

3 have you sealed the decals yet

  4. Wow that's a really nice subtle weathering job you've done on the fron office Mike, care to give a bit of a run through of your technique?

    Cheers

    Hi Darren

All I did was vary the base color and use a MIG Wash

So it was Gunze H58 80% Thinners to 20% paint

Lightened with RLM04, well thinned 90% thinners to 10% paint

Then added more H58 thinned some more

Then lightened with RLM04 thinned again

    Did this about 6 times

    Future Coat

    MIG Wash

    Chipping with Dark green Paint

Flat Coat with Model Masters Flat
