Just finished this one Tamiya 1/48 P-51D Mustang, 154th Fighter Squadron, Arkansas National Guard. 44-72952 was flown by Major H.H. Kirby, the unit's first post-war CO, in late 1946 (his war time tally is on the canopy. It carries the 154th FS insignia in lieu of the national insignia on the fuselage, and it carries the original NG as opposed to the latter ANG The aircraft is built almost OOB only adding the aerial and PE seat belts Painted with Alclad, Mr Hobby H52 olive drab for the anti glare panel

Great Work on the weathering there Lloyd, oh and by the way the build ain't bad either -
Was looking through the stash to see if I had any thing that I could build for this GB and came across the Hasegawa 1/32 BF2C-1 So on to the Kit, for those who do not know the model, looking at the detail, for its age is not bad, on the down side, very little cockpit detail so I may just have a look for a pilot to put in the cockpit Due to the age of the kit the decals are yellowed and I do not want to take the risk of using them, so will get the aftermarket decals from Yellow Wings For the painting of the model I will be using Gunze Aqueous, Tamiya, decanted from the rattle can, and Model Master lacquer to finish with. I might look at making a base for this one, part of the deck of the U.S.S. Ranger in 1934

Just seen this one, well everything looked great up until the weathering. You do not say what you have used to weather your model with but it looks like the pigment of whatever you used has separated from the carrier, and left dots of the pigment behind This could be down to having some sort of contamination on the surface of your model? could you let us know how you did the weathering to your model If this is just a wash you could go back if you have not sealed the surface and clean of some of the pigment, wiping in the direction of the airflow, this should help to blend everything together Also I don't know if you have noticed but your main landing gear is on the wrong way round the wheels should look outwards not inwards Talking to a friend who is just about finished his, this will raise the rear up and get rid of the almost tail sitting look to the model

Not a bad effort overall, just a few minor things I have noticed that can be easily resolved on your next build 1. Almost all of your decals have silvered, before you put the decals on if you put a future coat on the model this will give you a nice smooth and glossy finish ready for decals. 2. If you use decal setting solution this will soften the decals you may need to apply this several time to get the decals to conform, if you still have silvering showing just gentleman's parts or cut the decal and apply more decals solution ( I know Academy decals the ones not printed by Cartograf are not the best around but you can make them work) The two to try for Academy's own decals are Daco strong and Solvaset 3. The insignia on the upper wing just seems to be sitting on the wing rather than looking like it was painted on. Again the setting solution would solve this, also if you follow the panel line with a new scalpel blade and cut the decal along the line this will after applying more setting solution settle into the panel line 4. I noticed what seems to be on the front wheel tyre a seam line and sprue attachment point still there, if you are having difficulty in removing these try using a sanding stick and a sanding sponge of various grades
