  1. Hi Tim, Yes you are right about the panel line, but Airfix have decided not to mold this prominent feature I guess they think because its only 1/72 it won't matter
  2. Final update for today This is just before I closed up Eduard seat belts fitted Closed up, seams filled and sanded and re-scribe where required, just noticed still need to re-scribe the small access hatch in front of the cockpit If you notice in the photos there is a seam line going through the center of the guns on the wings, I did try to clean and sand them out but all I was able to do was make them look worse, looking at the other Airfix 1/72 P-51 builds being done in the GB its not just something on this kit, it to do with the moldings from Airfix, so this is what I did Cut the guns off, file the stubs flat and drill them out, all I need to do now is glue in some plastic rod, let it dry, drill that out and fit a smaller diameter rod in and as they say, job done
  3. Thanks for the comments everyone Time for the next update Cockpit floor painted, weathered and chipped Instrument panel finished this is the kit decal Fuselage side walls painted, future on, oil washed and flat coat Pastel weathering and chipping done All ready for closing up
  4. After being inspired by the builds from Mish and Wellzy, I thought I would give this model a go. These will be the first 1/72nd scale model's I have built in about the last 35 years, the last one I can remember building was a Airfix Stirling One of the models will be finished as Master Mike the mount of Maj Joe Broadhead from the 362nd FS, the other will be finished as either Evelyn from the 364th FS or Lady Ovella from the 362nd FS, Decals will be from Repli-Scale The Yoxford Boys sheet 5 The paint to be used will be Gunze for the camouflage P-51 and Alclad for the NMF one Well on to the build If you look at the above picture you will see there a number of minor imperfections to the surface of the plastic that need to be sanded and polished out, also the small intake needs to be sanded of as well this was a post war addition After sanding and polishing The right hand side has the same issue of a raised area around the intake grill, again this has been sanded and polished out After sanding and polishing

  12. Yes these are the new decals from IIiad, they go down great, the only one that is a bit on the "thick" side is the 154th FG insignia, but I put this down to the color layers required to make up this decal But with a few applications of Micro Sol it snuggled down fine
