After looking at the link posted by AngloSaxon I would say there is conclusive evidence that F-13 had Zimmerit at least on the turret
These two photos show Zimmerit on the turret, with the very strong possibility of it being on the hull as well

-
Nice work Luis, did you ever get the one done in the day fighter camouflage scheme
-
Great work Lloyd, that's not one you see every day
-
Lloyd thats one nice F-18 there
-
That is some nice NMF work
-
Well its been in the paint shop and come out the other side

Dave, that is a fantastic diorama, I looked at the dioramas you were up against at Southern Expo and I think you were short changed this year, and should have been placed at least 3rd, with a possible 2nd, well better luck next time or at the next show
-
Very nice Peter
-
This will be the last update before the tank hits the paint shop
The spare wheels and track links on the turret, Jerry Cans on the rear are only just held on with white tack at the moment, these will be painted of the vehicle to give a bit of color variation.

-
Ray, even with the mishap that's some nice work you have done there
-
Well its almost there now, just a few more bits left to put on before the primer coat which should be this weekend

-
Right got all of the Zimmerit on, just a few problems with the backing sheet separating and having to piece together the resin squares
The worst being the rear plate that's it about 15 pieces
All I have to do now is go round, sand back the resin where its overlapped fill the joints where the plates meet and make them look like the Zimmerit

-
Nice start Mike - Should be good to watch.
How's the resin Zimmerit to work with ?
Peter
Peter
The resin Zimmerit so far is nice to work with, will let you know when the project is complete if i still think so

I would say the hardest part is getting it of the resin backing sheet, this is where you need to sand it, and make sure it stays in one piece
Once that is done, its just fixing it to the model with PVA glue, with a touch of super glue around the edges

Ok first up date

All of the wheels removed and cleaned up

The hull cleaned up, suspension arms removed , cleaned and dry fitted, also Zimmerit added to the sides

I decided to go with the metal track rather than the resin ones, less clean up on the metal ones and they went together great

Nice one Mish another one for the collection

Well being inspired by Peter's build of a Panther from I./Pz.Rgt.24, and after looking at the reference site he linked to I did a little digging around in the stash and found the following
Dragons Panther A
WW II Production Resin tracks
Fruimetal Tracks
Aber upgrade set for the Panther
Eureka tow cables
7.5cm L/70 metal gun barrel
Atak Zimmerit
For reference I will be using the following
The link to the excellent web site Pete Marshall provided in his build thread
The 116. Panzer-Division's Panther Battalion, the I./Pz.Rgt.24 during the battle of Normandy
Panzer Tracks No 5-2 on the Panther A
And a Japanese language pictorial book on the Panther
So with that little lot together I will be attempting to build a Panther A from the 4th company of I./Pz.Rgt.24, the tank will be number 424I will also incorporate the items of equipment and there location on the tank that identifies it as being from Pz.Rgt. 24
1. Spare road wheels mounted conical side out, one either side of the turret towards the rear, held in place with three bolts
2. The cleaning rod tube relocated to the rear deck, above the rear grills
3. Two spare Jerry cans mounted, one each on the inner face of the rear storage bins
4. Spare track mounted on the side of the turret, these were held in place with the "U" bolts normally used on the hull sides for the spare track
This tank was lost on the 24th of August 1944 at a spot called "le Pelican"
The I./ Pz.Rgt.24 was formed 23 July 1943 after the II./ Pz.Rgt.24 was renumbered, most of its officers, were from what was left of the 24th Pz.Div, which had almost been wiped out in the fighting at Stalingrad
It did not receive its 74 Panther tanks which were a mixture of late model A and early G until after D Day when OKW HQ realized the I./Pz.Rgt.24 did not have any Panthers
These were rushed to Mailly-le-Camp where the 24th were.
After carrying out training west of Amies, on the night of 19/20 July the 1./Pz.Rgt.24 set of for the front, they arrived at their assembly point on the 29th July west of Vire

Hi - is it OK to have something in the GB from Operation Bodenplatte? (I have the DPC Casper decal set - I was contemplating an Me 262 A-1a/JABO of 5./KG(J)51, or possibly a Mustang Mk. 1 of 430 sq. 39 wing at Eindhoven - at least that's how those are described on the decal sheet) However, I see there are a couple of 262's already but only one Mustang I, and that's in 1/48th, whereas mine would be in 1/72nd and a different squadron....
So is the Mustang a runner?
Thanks,
Philip

If you look on the first page of the group build you will find 3 builds of 1/72 P-51'S
and one of those are already completed and in the galery -
Nice start, but i think you need to check you references for the rear area behind the pilot
That area should be white not the blue/green as far as I know that is the JASDF F-15J color
I would say the best person in GB to check with is Mungo 1974, he has a wealth of knowledge on the F-15
-
Well its about time I made a start on this build
I will be changing the base kit from Academy to Hasegawa the reason
1. Forgot I had the Hasegawa 1/48 F-15C in the stash
2. When I opened it found I had the following
Cockpit and burner cans from Aries
A mask set from Steel Beach
Wolfpack Agressor updat set
Paint masks from Eduard
Resin FOD covers from Two mikes
RBF tags from Daco and Expert-Choice
Decals will still be from Afterburner, and a Hasegawa weapons set for the APX-95
So on to the photos

Have been able to move on with the NMF P-51 I have decided to finish her as Lady Ovella from the 362nd FS

The model was primed with FS 36270, the base color is Duraluminum, with the different color panels done by mixing
Jet Exhaust with the base color

All of the decals are now on, not bad for decals that are 20 year old, only had one break up that was upper wing insignia
that had to be removed and replaced
Just need to let all the decals dry, then future the model, weather, future then seal and it done
The next update now will be when the model is completed
One thing I did find out about the 362nd FS, it would seem from September 44 onward the NMF aircraft did not have the black ID strips
on the wings or tail planes, they also had the rudder painted white (363rd was Red, 364th was Yellow) I noticed this in the few color photos I have plus in the black and white one you can notice the "different color" to the tail

-
Nice one Lloyd
-
Nice work
-
Hey Mac, i agree with Lloyd you took your time getting here

-
Lloyd, what a different finish to this model, not one you see every day
