Cheers, I bet it is a popular aircraft at airshows.

I was leaving work in Purfleet, Essex yesterday about 16:10 when I heard something that was obviously not one of the usual planes heading for London City airport. It was a very pretty, silver MiG-15 cruising past at around 1500 ftft in the bright sunshine. Certainly not what I was expecting! Everyone now and then we see Chinooks and Apaches as well. We also saw a low flying V-22 Osprey whilst camping in Chapel Stiles, Cumbria in early July. That was a surprise too.

I have only just heard about this Eagle project. Be still my beating heart! I hope this will be available at a sensible price.....

That looks beautiful and awesome at the same time. Superbly done.

Current buying options for Harrier GR.1 / AV-8A in 1/48?
daldroflas replied to daldroflas's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Nice work there Bill. I have been eyeing up a few drop tank tips that could be candidates for the new 'old GR.1' nose on Airfix GR.3. Haven't seen a Kinetic Harrier in the flesh but they look nice too. -

Thanks Tim and Don. I'll have to keep looking out for a Monogram kit and see what Kinetic come up with. Certainly looks from the pictures like a good basis for what I want. There is something about the early Harriers that look so cool. -
That looks superb, very cool Flogger.

Thanks Fellas! John R - I did have a good look at that Techmod sheet and I'm glad you think they look modern. I think I'll buy that sheet as I can source Bort numbers from other kits. exdraken - Begemot and Linden Hill do some very interesting decal sets. I had not really looked closely at them before but they look very tempting. Might even lead to different kits being bought! The Begemot Modern Russian Air force insignia (48026) looks good, but I think I'll try the Techmod sheet for now. Your MiG-23 build is inspiring. I had wondered about using spare Eduard MiG-21 canopy parts on the MiG-27 and I'll see if they work out. I may need some tips, thank you for the offer. My main plan is to build it gear up with a pilot figure and use the cockpit and seat from a Trumpeter MiG-23 Flogger-G that will be getting an Aires set. I'll adapt/build the instrument panel and sights for the MiG-27. I know there is a lot more to do detail wise on the exterior. Loaded with some Eduard rocket pods and R-3 missiles it should look pretty menacing.

The title says it all really! Can anyone recommend a good decal sheet for post war Soviet Star decals in 1/48? They are for use on a MiG-27. Or even recommend a 1/48 decal sheet (including stars) with schemes for a Soviet MiG-27? I'm fettling a Hobbycraft kit and the decals in it are pants. I know the kit is too but I'm going to make it gear up with a pilot in it and with some decent weaponry from Eduard/Trumpeter kits. Ta!

I too have been looking at buying an Oxford kit for ages. My uncle was in a Canada based RAF training unit that used Oxfords during WW2. A very colourful character he was a fan of Bing Crosby and on an extended leave he traveled to California, found Crosby's home and just knocked on the door. On hearing how far he had traveled just to see him Bing invited him in for a few drinks and some food. He did have quite a few tales to tell of that time, not all of them with happy endings. Sadly he is no longer with us and I never thought at the time to ask about location or schemes etc. I'll have to do some research and see if I can pin down some schemes.

Bravo! That is a fantastic looking Tiger. Superb modelling and painting skills used to great effect. -
Incredible! It deserves to be in a museum so the public can view it.
-
Excellent paint work that really makes that scheme work, fabulous.

That is a truly stunning looking model and very effectively posed.

Space:1999 Eagle DELUXE Edition from Round 2/MPC
daldroflas replied to Caerbannog's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
I saw the white metal spine made for a 44" Eagle once and that was appalling given the astronomical cost of the kit. Not sure who produced it as I was just shown it quickly the one time by a fellow modeller. I was shocked how rough it was. I have a very nice Chris Trice produced set of mouldings for a 23" Eagle Beak. Shamefully I haven't built the rest of it yet. I am surprised that there hasn't been a new IM Eagle kit given the popularity of Sci-Fi in Japan and Space 1999 in Italy.- 25 replies

Space:1999 Eagle DELUXE Edition from Round 2/MPC
daldroflas replied to Caerbannog's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
If the price is right I'd buy it for the spine booster as well. The price they are asking for the poor old Eagle kit is a bit steep. If only someone would being out a 23" injection moulded Eagle kit, that would be heaven.- 25 replies

Dornier 217E-5 1/48th from Monogram.
daldroflas replied to mullerman2's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Great looking Dornier with nice clean canopy painting, nice work. I have always liked the 217 since having the ancient Airfix kit as a kid. -
1/35 tamiya tiger B with porsche turret
daldroflas replied to clearway's topic in Ready for Inspection - Armour
Thanks for the info Keith. I have to admit that rolling the mg cover was one thing about the Eduard instructions that worried me a bit! If plan A doesn't work out I might go with using some milliput for it instead of the PE. -
1/72 Revell/Dragon King Tiger kitbash completed!

Amazing work in such a small scale. -

That looks fantastic in all respects. I really like the paint work. The zimmerit looks very effective. I have the kit and Eduard zimmerit myself. How easy was it to apply over the tight curves like the front mg armour? -
Thanks Graham. Googling Halifax W7656 returns lots of pages including pictures of her being assembled. Makes for an interesting read, cheers!
