  1. Jupp, AFAIK same problem with the Sea Vixen and other kits. Well, although I do know of its problems, I prefer the Xtrakit Hunter over the PJ Productions conversion for one reason - our kitchen table is my worktable, so any (bigger) resin work is out of the question. Cheers Thorsten
  2. Funny thing is, I just wanted to post the following..... ;-) Last night after posting the pictures above, I got stuck on TV in a documentary about Williams Wales and Kate Middleton...... During a segment about his current military posting, they showed a Seaking flying by the GateGuard of his airfield.... a twoseat Hunter in the colors of the boxart of the Xtrakit kit. And although it was only a brief glimpse, I thought "yepp, the Xtrakit nose is too not curved enough". Now, if I would find a opened Revell Hunter somewhere in my stash, I think I would check if the wings would fit the Xtrakitkit. ;-) Cheers Thorsten
  3. Although I do not intend to build the kit in the coming years or decade, I added the nose cone and the canopy to the fuselage. Feel free to comment the shape of the kit. Cheers Thorsten
  4. Kit and cutters are already packed away, tomorrow evening I am mostly not at home, I try to remember it for thursday. Cheers Thorsten
  5. Hi guys, although I usually keep my kits MIB in case I will sell them later (just sold 2 of my 3 Xtrakit/MPM Sea Vixen - I figure by the time I will build one, we will have a nice one from either Airfix or HobbyBoss - like the Seahawk), I just unclipped the two fuselage halves. Joining them for the pictures wasn't that easy, the walls are quite thick and there is a slight warp in them. Anyway, here are the pictures and traces. Although I did not scan them - believe me - the upper part of the nose is as straight as it looks in the pictures Second try What looks like a big gap is actually a shadow from a small mould ridge where the fuselage half splits, enhanced by the pencil lead from tracing the outline. Gentlemen, your verdict please. ;-) Cheers Thorsten
  6. Hey guys, thanks for the nice words on my review. I just took the sprues in my hands once again and.... You are right, at least I would call it a gentle curve. More a straight line with a very light curve. Not quite concave, but not convex either. Again more a pretty straight line. Hard to judge. Although I do have quite a few of the Revell Hunters, it has been quite some time since I took one out of the box. There is an angle but the bent is more pretty round, more like a curve than a kink. Yupp, the flaps are moulded into the upper wing halve. Thanks for your hints, although I do have the SAM Datafile on the Hunter, I neither had access to it yesterday nore the time to check the drawings. And honestly - I am not that good at comparing kit parts to drawings or pictures of the real deal. What really made me wonder (since I still remember the part from the Matchbox kit) - the Canopy looks very straigt on top where the frame divides the part. I would expect at least a slight curve. Cheers Thorsten
  7. Sorry for the shameless selfadvertisement, but here is a short review I wrote about the kit. http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=8538 ■Hawker Hunter T.7 XL573, No.237OCU, RAF Honington, 1986/87 (Coverart) ■Hawker Hunter T.8, "The Admiral's Barge" RNAS Yeovilton. ■Hawker Hunter T.7, WV372/R, No. 2 Sq. 8. Got mine today in a german model shop, seems that some kits made a detour on their way to Lowestoft. Nice kit, three interesting decal options. Maybe I get a second or third or I just wait for a Special Hobby release with even more options. Cheers Thorsten
  9. Having the idea is one thing, realizing it to that quality quite another. Did you construct any trial cardboard kits before you cut the parts out of the box? Great idea! Cheers Thorsten
