  2. Been away the last week working, but just came back and gotta say uve done an amazing job on those warhawks, love the noseart and the detail with all those tiny decals!, really hope you get this done before the deadline, its really coming along nicely, and cant wait to see the finished piece
  3. Well whos going to be expecting an Inverse aircraft carrier to be deploying flying boats over the desert??? they'd never see it coming, not in a million years
  4. Someone should have a go at something like this (someone other than me that is, im still relativly sane )
  5. That little thing is a resin Nav strobe for the nacelles, the Model doesnt have them so these can be added and then the strobe lights are fed through these, will be geting back to the E-D soon as poss, but have a big job and will be away for a week (off to film the Dubai Airshow heh) but hopefully once im back can make a big push to get the hing done before xmas cheers
  6. a 1/350 Galaxy class model would be approx. 6ft long, the same as the full size studio model the Polar Lights 1701-Refit is already 3 ft long hehe, even i would struggle to find space for the 1/350 E-D
  7. Having just seen this in person today all i can say is woah! the great thing is u can see all the bits of other kits which were used to kitbash the original are there and shrunk down really small, you can make out bits of tanks and engine blocks and gearboxes all over, tis really cool
  8. Looking good buddy, ill pop over this week and take a proper look, would it not be an idea to paint the inserts before you secure them in place tho? cos then they can just be masked off, i have a loada maskol ill bring with me and some LED's so u can check em out Ill echo Tinners point about just built it with a quote the the most high Monty of Python
  9. It looks great mate, I always thought Belfast was a much more handsome ship before her major reconstruction work, i also agree about disliking the 1944 dazzle camo she currently sports, but all said and gone we're lucky to have her and its always nice to see her down on the Thames lovely model, have you thought about attempting rigging at all? i think that could really set the model off and be the finishing touch cheers
  10. Woo! he started it! the detail and moldings are so crisp, tho IIRC they lifted molds off of the studio model, so id expect them to be pretty good. Made any decision re:lighting the thing? i will say, personally ive never been a fan of the flacon when its down on her 'gear' just seems too...i dont know, pedestrian, think she's a far more handsome ship with the gear up, but thats a personal preference, and since i know what u have in mind having the gear down makes sense looking forward to seeing more Till next time
  11. That is fooking brilliant! wish i could paint like that
  12. Its pretty simple really, he was once a member of a race of tiny people known a borrowers, these people are lured by the model companies to work on the production lines making the fiddly parts of models and building those models which cannot be made by the hands of man (ya know like 1/700 ships ) when they get to old to work on the production line, or are injured they are taken away with a promise of a nice retirement, but infact are introduced to a tiny gorgon who turns them to stone, they are then taken away and a mold is made then allowing plastic models to be produced simples (hic)
  13. thanks dude I might, i have some Eduard PE sailors, but i really dont like the 'flat' look of them, if i can pick up some tamiya or la'asenal figures cheap sometime ill deffo add them cheers
  14. Added to Gallery and RFI Till next time
  15. Hey all added the final touches to my KGV so now its ready for inspection build thread is here This is the first ship I've ever completed (got another 2 on the go i started beforehand heh) its my first attempt at a sea base and a first go at rigging, all in all im happy with it, but theres a lot im not so pleased with, but eventually you just have to say ok its as good as it can get and move on, which is what im doing hope you like it thanks all till next time
  16. Build thread here Tamiya 1:/350 HMS King George V + WEM Photo-etch, Sea-master Barrels and KA-Wood Deck
  17. if you get Barham im pretty sure you could represent almost any of the ships post 1920 refit
  18. Just finished adding the Flags, I made these by taking some kitchen foil, giving it a couple of coats of Citadel 'Skull White' then painted the signal flags, then a tiny dab of matt varnish to affix them to the rigging shes currently flying an admirals from, then the Battleship identifier aboe the Union flag, then from the foremast 'K' 'G' and 'V' from the mainmast she has the White Ensign, and the numbers '4' and '1' now thats all done ill take some proper pictures tomorrow and get them added to the gallery
  19. WOO! Sensei's back! and he's found his Mojo! great to see ya back at it Don and the P-40 is looking mighty fine, amazed you're able to drill out those exhaust's, the're probably about the same size at the Gun barrels on the ships and i can never drill them, so just buy the brass ones hehe great tip about the cocktail stick and sand-paper, i might well be employing that for some sanding on my Enterprise keep at it dude
  20. Well still waiting for the lights to all be delivered, but ive made a start prepping the kit for its arrival, the main thing to do was sanding away all the raised aztec lines (which looks terrible!), ive tried to keep the lifeboats and transporter stations where possible cos i want some definition on the hull so while its not completely smooth, i think its good enough for what i want, plus once its all painted with the aztec i dont think they will be too apparent. ive also given it a couple of coats of citadel 'Skull White' to act as primer, and this will allow fairly even diffusion of the light once installed, im going to go over this with 'Chaos Black' which will act as a light blocking agent and stop any light leeks, as i went i did a few 'test scrapes'to make sure the paint would be easily removable from the windo as i went, its going to be tedious, but i think better than all that masking lol anyhoo here are a few pics of progress thus far Note ive added the missing windows with replacement parts from DLM, ive also added the Ten Fwd windows I also have sanded back the Bussard collectors to give them a more diffuse effect which is closer to those on the studio model, ill likely give them a light coat of clear orange before installing Couldn't resist 'mocking up' the ship with a few rubber bands lol, its a pretty impressive size...tho my 1/350 Polar Lights Refit dwarfs it anyway cheers folks, will let ya'll know once the lights arrive till next time
  21. wow guys, im completely humbled by the response to this im really glad so many of you enjoyed this build and the end result, i loved it ad learnt so much, im currently doing a sci-fi buil but im very keen to get back to a ship soon i just have to add a couple of signal flags when ill take the proper pictures and add them to the Gallery and RFI (after much deliberation decided she will be flying the 'K' 'G' 'V' and '4' '1' flags from the yards, the white ensign and the admirals flag from the mainmast hope to have that done tomorrow and will have the pics up then to all of you all i can express is till next time folks ")
  22. .... you ever hear somthing so genius and yet so simple you feel stupid for not thinking of it yourself? cos yeh im feeling that just now Ordered my electronics today from SSM, in the meantime I've just been sanding back all the raised lines off the secondary hull and neck, moving onto the saucer tomorrow, just really time consuming, will post some pictures tomorrow of the progress so far once I've re-scribed a few lines i wanna keep. have alo starting thinking about how i want the mount the model since i need to have a good idea of that before i really start wiring anything up, would love to try and get some kinda pseudo TNG-esq LCARS console, somthing which is almost a touch screen, so need to do a bit of research into that too cheers for the support folks, appreciate it
  23. He's a mad man! a mad man! glad to see ya init buddy, looking forward to the build
