  1. Well its not like you didnt spend the 6 months leading upto Xmas dropping hints about how much u wanted the damn thing very impressive work dude, surpasses even your Falcon IMO, look fwd to seeing it in the flesh now you figured out how to fit it onto the glass box and still finished before my Hood
  2. Welp that was fast finished the sub-assemblies last night Pelvis The Head Rail Gun and Radar TMD pack - this has the only part which gave any trouble during assembly, the dark grey plug on the bottom refused to fit into the hole without some sanding back, And fitted together, its now going to get broken down again and given some paint, a few bits here and there will be glued, but ill be retaining all the articulation (except perhaps the foot spikes, they just keep falling off so they might get glued into place any thoughts on colour? i wanna try to keep true to the game version, but i Do like the new splinter camo they have on the PAK-FA, also my make suggested tiger stripes, but then he is a sadistic sob
  3. What ho fellows Well i finished my Galactica and was going to start on the TOS Battlestar, but then i saw how much resin was involved and decided id rather do something a little more straight forward (almost slicing the end of my finger off didn't help either ) So i decided to start on REX Awesome boxart by Yoji Shinikawa Obligatory spru shot First leg Its all unpainted, im building up the sub assemblies before i decide on the final colour scheme anyone who's built a Bandai Gundam will be familier with how the kits go together, they essentially snap together with no need to glue (they say that, once im ready to paint ill be gluing this properly) so far its very straight forward and fun, the legs all move correctly and extend just like Rex should, Ive already finished the pelvis and starting on the head this evening shouldnt take too long with this cheers Andy
  4. nah, couldn't be bothered lighting this, pretty much OOB
  5. Welp pretty much done now, a couple of touch-ups here and there, and need to pain the base, but she's finished Ill take some better pictures tomorrow once ive painted the base, and then its onto the next model Dunno if i should do the TOS Galactica, or Metal Gear Rex
  6. Dont forget all the extra Rail-guns you'll need
  7. The Inserts were pretty straight forward, they need quite a bit of fettling to get the contours right but they went in easy enough, i just had to trim 1 of them to fit, the Interior ribs while nice are pretty much invisible unless your lighting the flight pod's, even if i shine a light through the pod i can hardly make them out lol, but that kits probably a better one to get because it has the etched name plates and the PE Gun's
  8. Thanks guys Been working away on her over the new year (in between the occasional caucasian ) As i mentioned i did have the Acreation Decal set, and i started applying these, but they were increadibly fiddly and to be honest i didnt like how they made the model look, it looked too dark and "busy" so ive decided to go forward without applying these (ill give them to my mate and his Galactica build for when he gets around to it) So after giving it a new darker base coat with some Tamiya German Grey, ive spent the rest of the day Drybrushing some Medium Sea Grey Ive also drybrushed the Red Identification Stripes, it gives a must better look to my eye, and more representative of the ship in the Mini-series Its just Dryfitted in the pics here, im gonna give it all a Oil Wash to help bring out the panal details and add the PE Battery guns, with luck i can have this finished tomorrow and Start on the Metal Gear Rex kit which arrived on monday
  9. generous application of Halfords Rattle-can Grey added the decal and the PE to the Flight pods and glued the Flight-pods together
  10. Greeting everyone its going to be the re-imagined Galactica using the re-released Mobius kit by Revell, gonna show her as she was at the beginning of the 2003 mini-series, rather than the state she was in at the end of the show Im gonna use the Paragrafix PE and the Acreation Decals Most of the subassemblies are all done, and ive added the PE Inserts to the voids where the flight pods retract Bit of fettling was needed for the aligator head, the model has a noticeable 'step' accross the top of the model so needed to remove the locating slides and add some plasticard to the neck so when i add the head it will be flush Just a quick shot of the underside showing the lower part of the head, i decided to glue this in place to make it easier to position the upper part of the head while i was sanding that back so its all ready for primer tomorrow, i expect this is a model that would take only half a day to make, if it wasn't for all the decals im gonna have to add cheers folks Andy
  11. I got myself a Galactica, ordered the PE and Decals so hopefully they will be here and i can make this over the holidays, Hope Revel will release the Pegasus quickly after Mobius at a lower price
  12. My thoughts are Id rather the Bell be in the custody of the HMS Hood association and the RN Museum than risk the same fate that befell HMS Repulse, i mean the technology to reach these ships has advanced so much since Ballard found Titanic that a Billionaires Private Yacht! is being used for this expedition, thats to stop some other rich guy deciding hed like the bell, just because he can?. furthermore given the value of scrap metal , especially pre atomic Steel how long before it become worthwhile for some rouge salvers to start tearing up the ship like the Jutland wrecks? Id rather the Bell be raised and help preserve her memory in the public consciousness for at long as possible, I always like the ancient egyptian view that you are immortal if you are remembered, a far better tribute to the sailors than a cold dark forgotten tomb in the far north atlantic my $0.02
  13. Thanks all, yeh was pretty busy at the end of FAS, the rest of the show was really subdued compared to previous years tho
  14. F-16's and C130's on the Ramp at Fairford on Friday Morning, before the rains came.... A Pair of RNAF crew applying insignia to thier F-16 (at least i assume it was theirs, might have been caught in the middle of a prank...) T-50 lands after Friday rehursal, was pretty wet and with really low cloud, was actually surprised anything was flying The JADSF Taiko drummers gave thier first performance outside of Japan since before WW2, was pretty impressive, even managed to drown out 'Orange 1' the RNALF F-16 The big draw at RIAT was this B-2 "Spirit of New York' comes complete with Armed guards... ...but still wasn't as impressive as this lovely lady 2 Ships down, but the Red still gave an impressive display But the Star of the flying show had to be the Korean 'Black Eagles' first time outside of South Korea, if you have a chance go see this display catapults? we dont need no stinking catapults! Heavy Metal Imperial Storm Troopers try out the LM Kinect Game As do Maverick and Goose, no doubt getting a head start on the F-35 (who wants to tell goose its a single seater? ) T-50 on static display at Farnborough Trying to convince Lockheed to paint the C-130J props like this RAF Blades performing over Farnborough T-50 Solo display at Farnborough Fat Albert at Farnborough C-17 Reds were at Farnborough too Breitling wing-walkers over the BBMF Lancaster The Trade-show was really subdued, as was the saturday, but the promise of dry weather meant the masses were there on the sunday

  18. I wish they had the kind of camera technology we have today back in the 20's and 30's, would have loved to see the British Battleships taking it green like that
  19. If i can talk Tinners into going with some of his models, ill bring my EAS Agamemnon from B5, and if its finished my Enterprise-D
  20. Hey all I just picked up a 1/350 IJN Mikasa, and was just wondering is it would be possible/viable to converter her to an RN Majestic class? i know Mikasa was based on the Majestic class, but does anyone know to what extent she was modified? if the hulls are largly comon i think it might be a go-er, cheers if anyone can help Andy
  21. looking good buddy, looking forward to when you start painting the beastie, still think it would be great as a diorama with the Vospers
  22. while everyone has given good suggestions, my advice would be to pick a ship that will hold your interest through the entire build, otherwise it can be very hard to get that last 10%-20% finished
  23. well as per usual transferring the wires from the desk to the ship proved disastrous so on the plus side ill be re-doing them so ill take a few more pics of the process, just need to figure out how to get them onto the ship
