  2. Yeh just me being a bit special, should be fixed now
  3. Hey All Been working on converting the very good Trumpeter HMS Hood to how she looked in 1924 (secure in the knowledge that the second im finished someone will release a comprehensive kit which will make all the alterations ive been fumbling through really easy) this is my first ever ship, so be gentle im trying to re-create this image - my cunning plan is to one day get the Trumpeter Repulse and build the other side of the Pier heh (but that would need even more work to ret-con to her 1924 fit might leave that for a while yet heh) so im just gonna post a few images of progress up till now Start of the fwd superstructure, using the Lionroar Add on set Using the Wooden Decks from KA Models (available from WEM) getting there, slowly but surely
  4. Hey Phil, from what i can see in AOTS and Hood - design and construction, she only had 12 5 Inch fitted when launched, i think the 2 your thinking of were off the Fwd Shelter deck (just behind the bridge) which took her down to 10 posted an update over on the shipmodelers site, will start a thread here later this eve and post the pics cheers
  5. just dont do what i did and put all the barrels in upside down then have to break em apart to fix it :shithappens:
  6. yeh those are the Guns ya need, if your doing the 1920 fit you'll need 2 sets of anchors cos Hood had 3 Bow anchors but the kit only comes with 2
  7. yeh, i got them from white ensign models, you'll need 12 (they come in sets of 4) The Anatomy of the ship book is definitely the best resource, id also recommend looking into some Photo Etch stuff and maybe resin Turrets) I used the Lion Roar set, but it is a bit pricey
  8. Hi 32SIG Tinners dropped me a line this morning and pointd me in your direction, so thought id pop here and see if i could offer you any help and advice for re-conning Hood to her 1924 Fit just off the top of my head, the main bits of work ive had to do with the trumpeter model are Removing the Dgausing cable off the hull, Altering the shelterdeck, Adding the 5 Inch guns Modifying the Bridge Altering the rear superstructure and building the searchlight platform thats pretty much were i am at the mo, just sat here now actually about to glue the shelter deck onto the model heh depending on how obsessive ou want to be i wouldnt say its that hard, id class myself as a modeler of medium competency, im not capable of some of the mind blowing stunning models ya see online, nor do i have much experience in scratch building, but im progressing ok I think its shame most of the Models of Hood are of her as she sank, she was well past her prime by then and is kinda sad remembering her only how she was in 1941, i think she looked way better on the Empire Cruise if i can be of any help, just drop me a line mate Andy
