  1. Very very nice, thank you Mr Song! Any chance of a 1/48 SA 330 Puma or Aloutte III in the near future? Please....Please
  2. Hi Steve, thanks Ja, Durban. I used Humbrol 29 enamel as the main colour and then lightened it a bit over some areas but it does not show the lightened areas much in the photo's. The dust on the tyres was lightly sprayed lightened (with white) Tamiya buff, and I need to give the rest of the hull a dusting of the buff too to represent that horrible white sand/dust in Owamboland and Southern Angolat. Good luck, I am looking forward to the build
  3. I too have a 1/35 Baxmod Buffel, Cassipir and Ratel 20 awaiting my attentions. Sadly for me I got the earlier versions of the kit before they changed to the new improved casting method of which your kit seems to be. So mine will take a lot more work to finish. If you you don't mind me doing so here is a previously finished 1/35 Ratel 20 from another South African company which is now out of business, I thought to show it seeing as we are discussing the Ratel 20 I still need to get around to weathering it a bit more. I am really looking forward to your build.
  4. Aaah natural metal is going to look awsome, thanks. I mentioned the SAAF cammo because both Eduard and Hobbyboss got it wrong and will have you do the CZ in the non existant Brown/Sand scheme.
  5. Sarcococca what a fantastic build, truly magnificent. Please...Please if you are doing the camouflage Mirage IIICZ, do not use the Hobbyboss colour scheme, theses aircraft were definately not painted sand and brown but the correct colours are deep buff (orangy sand colour) and green I look forward to more updates of this awsome build
  6. Whooo a new tool 1/48 G-91 R would be awsome!
  7. You have done a great job and a really cool colour scheme!
  8. Hi folks, Could you guys tell me what would be the closest "out the bottle" green using Humbrol enamals or Tamiya acrylics for the standard Mig-21MF/Bis Sand/green (sand/spinach) scheme as used by the Egyptians, Libyans, Iraquis, Angolans, Ethiopians etc? Thanks
  9. Absolutely beautiful, well done, funny enough I decided about two days ago to build one in 1/48 in the very same scheme! Regarding the period that the colour scheme was used, I have a photo from a SAAF publication captioned May 1971 so you are spot on with early 70's. How did you find the build/fit and what paints did you use?
  10. Ok found it , thanks. Neat idea..be a bit tough to keep the dust off though!
  11. Hi, this sounds like an interesting idea, can you please point me to the correct place too see this?
  12. Really starting to shape up nicely, I particularly like the windscreen and missiles
  13. Hi Song, I love those drawings, gives the Jaguar a really "predatory" look, very cool! I look forward to a Jaguar A, I would like to do one in the "Africa missions" sand/brown desert scheme.
  14. Thanks very much guys, I am looking forward to getting one of the new Trumpeter Mig-23's
  15. Thanks guys. Dekenba, you will be surprised, there are a number of great models around that have been built as Angolan aircraft, mostly Mig-17's, Mig-21's and Su-27's
  16. Well here she is, this is as far as I am going to go with this one, other than replace the pitot tube on the nose which I broke just before the photos were taken. What a drama this kit was and a lot of the troubles were of my own doing. The last thing I did was modify the kits horrible R-23/R-24 missiles to look a little better, clipped the main fins, re-profiled the nose and made new fins for the front of the missile, it does make some improvement. The real aircraft...Mig-23 ML C-401 Angola 1986 The missile modifications The result of my toils!!! And a touch of photoshop to edit out my hand on the rear of the aircraft.. Low level near Menongue looking for those pesky South Africans!
  17. Ok ...I am calling the Ratel 20 "done"!! Could still have a few things touched up/added but I have decided to leave it as is! More pics in "Ready for inspection"
  18. I am calling the Ratel 20 "done"!! A few "in progress pics" here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74129 Could still have a few things touched up/added but I have decided to leave it as is! This is my 1/35 resin “Red Carpet Models” Ratel 20 IFV of the South African Defence Force while being used by Natal Mounted Rifles in 1988. Although tank crew, I spent a month as crew on this particular Ratel. All the hand holds, railings and the rear turret gun mountings were made using various thickness wire supplied with the kit. I drilled out the solid crew commander position and vacuum molded a new hatch lid. It was a great kit to build, unfortunately this company has closed down and this particular kit is unavailable. There is however a 1/35 Ratel available by Baxmod (http://www.baxmod.co.za) Now to start with "My" SADF Olifant Mk1
  19. Great news....now...when is someone going to do one in 1/48????
  20. Very interesting...really cool unusual looking colour scheme on the Heller box!
