  1. Thanks guys, I'm going to do it in the Botswana scheme, I got the decals from Mavdecals.
  2. Yep it does look good if you are a little patient. My build is here, I will update it when photobucket allows me to post pics again!!! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234971223-canadair-cf-5a-kinetic-148/
  3. I finally got round to filling in the seams around the fuselage inserts and sanded them down. I will have some re-scribing to do. Then the next problem arose...the wing tip tanks are "handed" and the kit gives you two left hand tiptanks, so the right tank must be turned upsidedown...but then the wingtip does not fit the aerofoil shaped cutout in the tank properly. So I modified it all to fit as best I could. So I added the air intake assemblies, not too difficult but I got a bad gap in the one intake/ fuselage join. Photobucket is not allowing me to upload any more photo's, I will add the latest photo's when I can.
  4. After some trimming of the photo etch main instrument panel I got an okayish fit on the front fuselage and finished the major fuselage parts assembly.. I will need to do a bit of filling and sanding on the fuselage. Here is a clearer photo of the cockpit.
  5. The basic cockpit colour is done and I have sanded the lower fuselage join and the hole in the tail fin so she is starting to look better now. The sunken areas for the panels in the forward and rear fuselage are deeper than their inserts so some careful work is need to get them flush. The panels are not a great fit either so some filling and sanding will be needed. The photo etch is a "Kinetic" set that I had bought seperately and was actually manufactured for Kinetic by Eduard. I struggled a bit with the fiddly bits and the cockpit paintwork needs some tidying up but it does look nice to the naked eye. There are a lot more photo etch bits to add to the cockpit but this is as far as I am for now. One snag is that now that I have the photo etch attached to the main instrument panel, the upper part of the front fuselage does not fit properly so I will need to do some trimming. I will try take better quality pics of the cockpit to post here later as the low quality of these make everything in the cockpit look like they have jagged edges.
  6. The fuselage has a horrible looking parts breakdown, might be some joint problems there! A dry fitting looks ok but we will see Assembly of the extreme rear fuselage Engine nozzels fitted ok but will need a good cleanup Rear fuselage assembled, the fit was ok, I got a bit of seam to cleanup on the spine which I have done and was quite easy because the plastic is soft. I got a not so good seam on the lower right sight of the fuselage as you can see in this pic, hopefully an easy fix, the other side was fine. The shrapnal hole in the middle of the tail fin I made last moment as I was glueing the whole lot together when I noticed the instructions showed some small parts to be inserted there only to discover later that I won't be using those parts so I need to fill and sand that hole too.
  7. have had this kit for some time now and decided that I should get it "on the go". It all looks very nice, good level of detail, the cockpit detail looks better to the eye than it looks on these photos. This kit comes with decals for 16 aircraft from 6 Airforces! Canada x 3 Greece x 5 Norway x 2 Netherlands x 2 South Vietnam x 1 USA x 3
  8. Yeah, I am building the F-5A and feel the same, I started off well and was pretty happy but the fuselage inserts and the collection of joins under the air intake area seems a bit excessive. The two left side wingtip tanks is odd. It should look pretty nice once done though.
  9. The Dragon 1/48 Me-163 built out of the box with only the number 9 used from the Kagero sheet. Painted entirely straight out the tin with the new Humbrol RLM enamels. Not a perfect build by any means but I am happy with the result.
  10. A Stunning CZ , well done, she is beautiful...now relax a bit and then do one in the old Deep Buff ? Green scheme...
  11. Thanks for the information guys, I had easy access to a Nagtigal which is why I asked the question. I can get the bomber version online so I will do that. Thanks again.
  12. Can anyone tell me if the Revell 1/48 Arado Ar.234 Nagtigal (excluding decals) can be built out the box to represent the bomber / recce version? Thanks
  13. 1/48 Aerospatiale SA 330 Puma Pleeeeeaaazeeee! 1/48 Westland Wasp and Scout 1/48 Aerospatiale Allouette III 1/48 Gazelle 1/48 Dassault Mirage III / V 1/32 Vampire would be an excellent Idea
  14. A great build so for, I love this aircraft. I wish that Heller, Airfix, Revell,Trumpeter...(Tamiya he he he) or so would release a normal "mainstream" kit of this aircraft in 1/48
  15. 1/48 Hasegawa USN A-4C converted to Argentine A-4C. And this is the aircraft depicted: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Argentina---Air/Douglas-A-4C-Skyhawk/1930498/L/
  16. Very very nice, wow. I am planning a similar build, could you tell me which paints you used? I only really have access to Tamiya and Humbrol would you guys know the equivilents?
  17. Thanks for that information Romain, thats a great photo showing the double wing slats. I look forward to the tailwing dimensions Cheers
  18. Well done Rom1 absolutely beautiful. Could anyone tell me what the dimensions would be for the F-8J / F-8P tail wing in 1/48? I have a Hasegawa F-8E that I want to convert into the F8FN/F-8P and need to enlarge the tailwing.
  19. Aaah the South African Air Force 40 Squadron Spitties sure are pretty and you are doing a great job with yours too!
  20. I have never heard of this aircraft before but I must say that this has been facinating to follow, I look forward to seeing the built kit.
