  1. I've built 20 WWI biplanes in 1/48th scale (and a few 1/32's) to date, and 1/48th is fiddly enough! Hats off to you guys - the detail and finish on your 1/72 models are superb! At 63 years old I still have very steady hands, but the eysight is not as good as it was! The only 1/72 kit I have in my stash is the Gotha - but only because I would not have space to display the 1/32nd Wingnuts model (when it appears).
  2. Nah - the Fokker D VII is for wimps! To be truly possessed by the stringbag devils you must have completed an Airco D2 and survived....
  3. Thanks for all the replies - I had no intention of going for this, and I agree, I'm sure the Eduard is the better kit. I agree with Graham T, this has to be for the collector rather than the builder; but who in their right minds is going to put this in a drawer in the hope that it might be worth double in 20 years time. Or fondle the bag lovingly on a daily basis, desperately resisting the temptation to rip it open. Ooh Err, this is getting creepy.... Hendrik
  4. Hi All Spotted this on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIRFIX-L-F-G-ROLAND-...=item45f0b4fbe8 Never heard of this kit - quality? accuracy? Bargain or ripoff? I've built the Eduard version - nice kit and I think it cost me a tenner.... Hendrik
  5. Just to kick off before the experts join in (!) try these manufacturers: Wingnut Wings (The best 1/32 WWI plane kits bar none). Roden Academy (I have the 1/32 Sopwith Camel in my stash)/ Hendrik
  6. You lucky person - got my letter from Parcelforce today - £8 handling charge and £6.96 VAT!! Do I get charged an extra penny 'cause I'm in N.Ireland?? Smacks of Modelzone's postage charges.... Albatros - delivery tuesday; Can't wait!!
  7. That's great news - I have built the first 4 releases (with varying success!). Continuing free postage is great news, but import duty is still an issue - it added £10 -15 to the cost of the first releases. The price reduction from £79 to $59 will really ease the pain! I love the Albatros; I have 3 examples in 1/48 - a 1/32 example is a must... Hendrik
  8. I finished this model a couple of days ago - you're right, it's a tough build! Spent a loooong time on the engine, now largely covered by the bodywork! (At least I know the detail is fantastic!) Bought the Ferrari along with 5 more 1/12 FI kits on ebay over the past 3 - 4 months; the Ferrari is old and the decals were pretty poor. Good luck with the build!
  9. Just won this kit on Ebay, so I too will be following with interest! (Taking a break from modelling WWI aircraft). Good luck Hendrik
