  1. I have found two photos so far, here they are as I feel they may be of use for identifying the proper type. I made a 1/700 scale WEM kit of a Flower, and I also have the L'Arsenal 1/400 version in the stash. I have the Matchbox kit, which I built as a child and my grandad had in his house for years. I took it away for refurbishment about 4 months before he died. Here's the small one Jen.
  2. I'm not sure about build programs, but I can give you some details. HMS Clover - K134 Built at - Fleming and Fergusson, Scotland Laid down - 29/07/40 Launched - 30/01/41 Commissioned - 13/5/41 Does that help? Jen.
  3. I can add nothing to the U-boat chat, but seeing that magnificent Flower class makes me think you may be able to help me.... My grandfather served on HMS Clover K134in the North Atlantic, Meditteranean and Russia convoys as well. I have the Matchbox kit and would like to accurise it for K134. I have so far found only one photo of her and all the usual sites are no real help. Any ideas anyone ? Jen.
  4. In a word, yes. Thats why it has such big gangly legs and tyres. Well that's what I was told at Cosford anyway. Jen.
  5. Probably not Mike. I don't think it's good enough. It's actually for a magazine, my first ever review kit Jen.
  6. Those wing changes could easily be facilitated by fitting new leading edges........... Jen.
  7. And the Trumpeter surges ahead! I sprayed it silver using a Tamiya rattle can. Took two goes to get it nice, but it is nice now. I then started a debate on the proper hue of chrome yellow Having been shunted in three different directions, I ignored everyone and painted it with Xtracrylix RAF Rescue Yellow. I think it looks pretty cool. The white band is Tamiya flat white which I also used as a basecoat for the yellow. It is preshaded too, but not in the normal way so it isn't obvious, which is what I wanted. I think I will plump for getting some Xtracolour Willow Green for the tail from Bill because I have nothing suitable. The Hu3 emerald would be a tad bright I suspect. There's plenty to get on with while I'm wating for it though so no worries Jen. (no good reason for the shrug, just doesn't get used enough. Come on guys, support the shrug!)
  8. Thanks Edgar. I guess I'll have to put an order in with Bill. Again! Jen.
  9. Hi all. I've just started painting a 1/32 Wildcat which will be a yellow winger jobby. What's the best option for the Chrome Yellow upper wing colour then? I have in my painting drawer a choice of H24 and the gloss version of, 69 I think. Extracrylix RAF rescue yellow, or, RLM04. I looked in the Hannants book and couldn't see a specific chrome yellow, so which might be the best option? I'm thinking of using the RAF yellow. Also, the aircraft I'm doing has the very attractive bright green tail, would H2 emerald be a half decent match? TIA, Jen.
  10. I'd be up for it for sure. I have several suitable Spitfires, a Mustang and a P-47 in the stash........... Jen.
  11. Mine is inbound from Bill as we speak Jen.
  12. Wow! That Buccaneer looks so right, who'd have thought it? Awesome stuff Leigh Jen.
  13. Some cracking builds there guys! Glad I posted it now. The Wellington bomber was my first ever kit, my dad made it for me when I was about 5 years old. It's taken me all this time to get around to doing it/them again! When I was little I actually didn't do very many Matchboxes as my main shop had Airfix and Heller, but I love the colours and the box art. I have a very vivid memory of going to my cousins house for a visit and gazing covetously at his Spitfire 22, and then going down to his local toy shop and fighting over the only two seat Lightning they had in at the time! There's more to come from me, I have the said two seat Lightning, Walrus, Stranraer, Gladiator and Fury in the stash, as yet unbuilt. Jen.
  14. You brush painted the Sabre? Smartarse! They look cool, nice one Karl. Jen.
  15. We all love Matchboxes don't we? I know I do! I thought I'd put a post together with all my built up ones, as there was a thread recently about Matchboxes that provoked a bit of interest. Apologies if you've seen them before First up, the Wellington pair. Fresh from the build bench for the commemorative Maurice Landi group build at UAMF. A Swordfish, HE70 Lysander Boeing P-26 Cosair duo And lastly, the Norseman. These were all oob builds of original Matchbox releases apart from the Norseman, which had added interior detail. They were all really easy, relaxing builds, again, apart from the Norseman. I love building the unpainted ones, it's really quick and a perfect cure for AMS or modellers block! Hope you've enjoyed looking at these, add your own! Jen.
  16. I think it's either the Mauve or the AMT kit. Looking around though, I'm tempted by the Eduard profipack. Comes with NZ and RAAF markings, has a resin interior and copious etch detailing, costs £21, only £5 more than Hasegawa. Ok, it's double the price of the Italeri, but if I wanted a resin cockpit (which apparently I would) then the difference is probably made up........ Jen.
  17. Is the Italeri kit worth having? I like the P-40 a lot, but I especially like the Aussie and NZ versions, along with the 112Sqn Uk ones. The Italeri kit seems to be the one that has these markings with it. Jen.
  18. I was going to start a new thread but decided to put this in here since it is another Wildcat! I've been working on a Trumpy 1/32 Wildcat this last week or so, and thought I'd let you all have a wee peek. It's a nice kit and so far has been very enjoyable. Here's a couple of shots of the cockpit. First off, the instrument panel and side consoles. I fitted the cockpit before I took any pics of it, consequently, it was nearly impossible to get any decent pics of it! it's painted in the darker green which I used Gunze euro green for. Weathered by washing and drybrushing. My pilot didn't usually wear chippes so the the floor is relatively unchipped I'd seen others write about the fuselage halves being a bit tricky so I was careful when I got to that point, resulting in a virtually perfect join. Next up is the engine. A real little sweetheart it is too. Having spent several hours carefully building and painting said engine, you can imagine how chuffed I was on dry fitting it within the cowl to find you really can't see it at all! Will update further soon. Jen. P.S. The Tamiya Wildcat is still ready for paint, has been for ages!
  19. Nice I'd been looking for one of those for ages to add to the CBK display at telford. I got one in the end from another forum member. It's a nice little kit isn't it? Jen.
  20. If they fit perfect I'd have left them till the end. If not, same as Copster. Jen.
  21. As staggering as it is that they brought her home on longerons alone, I'm equally amazed that they mended it! Jen.
  22. Bloody hell Neil! That (rocks) Awesome stuff, love the way you used a photo of the real thing and weathered it to match, great stuff! Jen.
