  1. I have an Aeroclub full kit. Spookily I was only looking at it the day before yesterday! Jen.
  2. You really, really, really should not have shown me that site! A conversion set to make a ZX-RR '03? Superdetail sets for tamiya bikes? Tiny tubes, rivets, carbon decals, exhaust springs............ Jen.
  3. Didn't mean to sound harsh dude, just joking ya! Sorry You do have a serious talent for seat painting though. Jen.
  4. You binned the whole thing??? I have the perfect soultion for you Neil. You should paint resin cockpits and then sell them on, you never seem to get any further than that anyway! Jen.
  5. I wouldn't go that far, I don't see any negativity, just constructive slight criticism Jen.
  6. I think it looks lovely. I just wish Trumpeter could make raised rivets for subjects like this one. That said, they look to have done a nice job of the wing joints and the raised doubler plates on the wings. Jen.
  7. You and your bin! There's nowt wrong with Gunze Sangyo, bad workmen and all that....... Jen.
  8. Can I join in please? I have this lovely Airfix 1/72 DH4. Part of my recent Vinces mega box purchase. Looks a sweet little model too. I don't imagine progress will be rapid unitl after Telford, but you never know! I also have an Eduard Fokker Eindekker in the queue if I finish this one fast enough. Jen.
  9. Yes Gary, it'll be the box top scheme for a No 1 SQN bird. I have both intakes finished and fitted, just Pillimutted the right one in. I also fitted the fin now that I've mostly done the fiddly work on the fuselage. I painted the fan with Alclad and that is fitted along with the rest of the engine block. I only put the engine in for something to attach the exhausts to so it's all painted black to reduce it's visibilty through any gaps around the exhausts. Jen.
  10. If you go to an aquarium shop. they sell weight in strip form which is used for holding down aquarium plants. Mine was £3.99 for a roll which will last a couple of years easily. The strip is very soft and you can fold and squish it with pliers to fit into small sapces. I use cyano or PVA to hold it in. On larger models I often use metal wheel weights for cars, they are self adhesive and have the weight printed on them which is sometimes handy. If you ask at your friendly local tyre fitters they'll often let you have a couple of strips for nothing. Jen.
  11. I've got the other intake done, all the baffle things are in and it's ready for fitting. Just a little putty to rub out on the innermost bit, spray it grey and I can fit it. It's been so much effort just getting the intakes done, I feel like I've finished the bloody thing! Jen.
  12. Thanks everyone! You know, this is why I like this site so much. 28 replies in 2 days, I have had a thread on UAMF (the home of the Classic British Kits SIG) since I started the build and not had half the response that I get on here I'm not complaining though, but the encouragement does help a lot. I've got the left intake finished and fitted with Milliput fairing it in dry by now. Hopefully I can get the right one up to Milliput stage tonight Jen.

Same airbrush as me. My recent Typhoon was painted with Modelair and I had no problems at all, it was lovely stuff! Jen.

I can't see the point of incurring the cost and complication of using screenwash when water works perfectly well on it's own??? You do need to overcoat with Klear to get any sort of durability, and I sometimes add a drop or two of IPA if I want better atomisation but not often. If you thin with water, you can also clean up with water. In fact screenwash makes more sense as a cleaner than as a thinner to me. Jen.
  15. Bee-ave Loki! I must admit, I did have grand ideas of detailing the wheel wells up properly, but I had to get realistic bearing the time frame in mind. I glued all the doors shut and now you can't see in at all! Here's a thing though. That model is a beauty, and solves the issue of the badly fitting engine panel. BUT - the Harrier has a one piece wing, is it possible in reality to see the engine like that without removing the wing? I think not! Jen.
  16. Thanks boys! I admit it is a tad ambitious, maybe.................... The cockpit is mostly done though, and once I get the second intake modded and on, it should be fairly plane sailing I think. (famous last words) Jen.
  17. My next build, the Airfix 1/24 scale Harrier GR1 :fanfare: Bought at IPMS Avon for just £22, JM and palacefellow may remember me buckling under the weight of the box in the afternoon. It's a bloody big model, with a lot of bits and I rather foolishly volunteered to build it in time for Telford for the CBK SIG stand I spent some time deliberating on the contents of the box and decided I coudln't build such a large model without updating some of the details a tad. I decided on the Flightpath set, which Bill furnished me with and I also joined the Harrier SIG for the photos and for Nick Greenalls help (and he has been a lot of help, top bloke!) The Flightpath set is a lot of money at £60 but boy do you get a lot for your money. I couldn't believe the weight of the box! There are four or five A5 sheets of etched brass, a stack of white metal bits and even some resin. It certainly compares favourably with an Eduard Big Ed set. Ok, where to start then? Well apparently I was to make a new cockpit tub out of etch. And a seat I won't go into great details, but suffice to say that it aint easy. I've been on this all week, and I'm only just seeing the light at the end of the make a new ejector seat tunnel. The Flightpath instructions are really hard to follow, and the brass is really hard to cut as it is quite thick. I also think that some things are better not made from brass. Because of this I have replaced various things with rod and wire. The set is pretty poor when it comes to the seatbelts, and makes no attempt to replicate the parachute harness at all. I have made this myself, and remade belts from lead foil. I thought when I bought the Flightpath set that it would contain a lot of extra cockpit detail. I was sadly mistaken. There is little included other than the seat and IP, and what is included is either a) next to impossible to make wrong c) too big or d) all of the above. Pretty annoying when you've paid so much money for it I had no choice but to make it myself, so I referred to the Datafile, Nick Greenalls big Harrier build and another in progress big Harrier build by someone called Shar67 to make a bit of sidewall detail. Here's where I've got it to, It's all made of bits of plasticard, stretched sprue and lead wire. A spare 1/72 Hurricane instrument panel yielded the dials for the little pod. I'm pretty happy with it now. It still looks a bit bare, but most of what's there in my pictures I have replicated after a fashion. That interior is now painted and fitted to the fuselage. Not being one for AMS, I painted it RLM66 Since then I've mostly been buggering about with the intakes. I started by opening out the kit door shapes, only to find out after I had done it that they were the wrong shapes. I corrected the shapes, put the ducting in and fitted one, only to find that it was still wrong because you are supposed to be able to see the intake compressor blades through them. I've pulled that one back off (thank god for superglue) and have now modified the other one to what I hope is pretty much right. Even if it isn't, it's as far as I'm going with it. I only have three weeks to finish the model after all! Those pics show the intake as it is now. The left one is done and needs the ducting adding before I can glue it on. I just cut the right one apart to start it. Am I mad as a mentalguru or what? Jen.
  18. Those are some stunning shots Steve, I am truly envious of your skills! Jen.
  19. In my experience, most current RAF aircraft are not nearly as matt as some modellers would have you believe. And why on earth would a rock ape be telling people how gloss their models should be? Tell him to go oil one of his guns! Jen.
  20. Euro 1 here. I really like the greek one (do they not wash their aircraft or something??) but I think it would be better in 1/32 scale. Jen.
  21. That is too cool for words. I hate you! Jen.
  22. Er,............ dunno! Jen.
  23. It says 1/48 item dude As if you'd order it when you don't even know what it is! Jen.
