  1. Quite a few of those are nearly there, all you need is a little KUTA and they'll be done in no time! Love the Vega, I'd really like to see that done Jen.
  2. Wow, nice scheme Bob, hope you pull it off. The run through looks good, so no reason to think you won't. How far along is the Primary Pfalz? Jen.
  3. Hell yes, what a beauty Get a thread going Al, look forward to seeing progress Jen.
  4. I have several builds lying around part done, but I settled on these two as my substitutions for this GB. First off, Italeri 1/72 Mirage 2000 As you can see, this is at a reasonably advanced stage of construction, and was put aside due to the traditional Italeri wing fit issues Will be finished OOB (unless I happen across some seats at Telford) with the addition of decals from the visible Model Alliance Op Herrick decal sheet. Secondly, Trumpeter 1/32 MIG19 Started with the intention of entering last years Trumpeter comp, I was nowhere near getting it finished in time. The model has languished in various corners of the model room ever since. Progress is fairly self explanatory, but there is a WIP thread here on BM somewhere as well. Again destined to be OOB, this time including decals. Lets hope there are no sperring mistakes on them If, and it's a big if, I get these two done I have an Accurate Miniatures P-51A that I might dig out to finish off too. Jen.
  5. I use superglue if I have big gaps, just dip the canopy part in Klear first and it'll be ok. Do not under any circumstances use accelerator though! If the gaps are smaller try using Tamiya Liquid Filler or Mr Surfacer. PVA and the like are only any good if the gaps are very small. Incidentally, gator glue is an excellent substitute for PVA and is stronger to boot. Jen.
  6. It would have to be going some to beat the building experience of Tamiya's kit as well. It being the best fitting and engineered kit I've ever built so far. The only advantage I can see is the possibility of a two stage Mossie at a slightly lower cost than buying a Tamiya one and adding Neils nacelles Jen.
  7. Oy you lot, stop picking on me! I will be doing my level best, that's all I can do eh. If it the only thing I had to get done I'd be laughing, but it isn't Got one of the wings filled and smoothed in, the other one isn't dry enough so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to do that one. Jen.
  8. Nice tip for fillering turnerdad, I must admit it hadn't occurred to me to use P-38 In fairness though, this kit doesn't really need it, the fit is pretty reasonable. I've used a mixture of excessive application of epoxy glue (which sands back nicely) and then superglue filler. At least then the filler will help to support the joints. Anyway.... A major milestone for me. Funny how gluing the wings on makes me think I might get it done in time after all I stuck the unprimed one on first because it fitted relatively perfectly. Once it had dried I made a template out of plastic card of the dihedral angle relative to the fuselage side. I then used the template to set the second wing up to match the first. Of course there is room for error with that method, after all, I can't assume that the fuselage halves are identical. It looks ok though. I think that one of the tailplanes looks a bit squint, which is annoying, but there's nothing I can do about that now. I plan on rubbing down the wing joins and getting another coat of primer on later today. I have finally managed to polish the canopy up to some sort of decent level of transparentness ready for fitting. Oh, and I've ordered some more Alclad too. I've a feeling that one bottle may not be enough........ Jen.
  9. I'd say that's worked Jon! It looks worn and weathered while not having a patchwork look to it at all. I particularly like the way the exhaust staining looks sooty and dirty, very nice Jen.
  10. Nice! I'd like to see a WIP thread though. I guess I have to buy a disc for that....... Jen.
  11. My Mitsubishi F-1, a concoction of ancient Fujimi bargain, Academy F-15 and Aconcagua resin ejector seat. Paints are Gunze Sangyo acrylics in the recommended shades and decals are entirely from the kit. Jen.
  12. I've decided to go for an in flight pose as suggested by Grant. I don't think flying boats look nice on beaching gear, and a dio is out of the question time wise (and cost wise tbh). This raised a need for at least a pair of pilots. PJ productions didn't seem to have anything suitable so I dug out a pair of Matchbox dudes from the spares box. They had WWII style goggles so I fashioned some peaked caps for them out of two part putty. Not brilliant I know, but the canopy glazing is frankly awful so they won't be ever so visible anyway. I had already added glazing for the purposes of keeping crap out of the interior, it also keeps any crap that is already in there from blowing onto your paint The windows were made from Kristal Klear. Then today, I masked the flight deck and wing joint areas off and put an initial primer coat on. This one is pretty much sacrificial and the majority of it will doubtless get rubbed off again. It does show me where I'm at with the seams and scribing though. It's actually pretty good, only a little bit more work needed at the extreme nose and a few small bits along the top. These bits will be remedied and all the scribing sorted before a second primer coat. Hopefully that coat will be good enough to start becoming the base for the Alclad work to come. Jen.
  13. Wow, so much packed in! I bet it was hard to spend just a couple of hours there. Almost looks worth a train trip just to go see it, Britmodeller day out anyone? Jen.
  14. Welcome to the Kick Up The Arris GB Anything goes in this one, no matter how dusty. Go and ferret out all those uncompleted builds, stalled builds whatever you want to call them. We don't have any rules on how finished or unfinished they have to be, basically, if you have a build that is started, but not finished - it's in! The fun starts on November 1st, giving you all time to collect those 'essential' accessories at Telford if required We're finishing up on Jan 1st 2009. Myself and Dswoofie are your hosts for this one and we look forward to lots of building and lots of banter. Register your interest here in this thread and go dig out those unfinished models to join in the fun on November the 1st! Jen.
  15. I think £80 is waaaaay better value for money than £16.99 for the 1/72 one As nice as it looks, at that price there won't be one finding it's way into my stashdrobe. £80 for the big one however is much more in keeping with what I'd expect to pay for a model of that size and stature. Thats if it is £80 of course, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is much more than that by the time it makes its way here. Jen.
  16. Twas a pleasure to chat with you today, I have to say. And if it's even possible, I think you've excelled yourself with this one It's not often that I gush with praise for a build, but, well, gush gush gush Jen.
  17. Great start Karl, I'll be watching this one with interest! Jen.
  18. Thankyou Mike Ok, a progress report with pictures! The F-15 is about painted now I think, after the bit painting session. I still have one upper wing to decal and then the fins and tailplanes will need decalling too. The exhaust shells are made, but I have a load of etched actuators to put onto them before I can paint them. Here's the bad boy the Eagle Eagle will be displayed with, meet Dragon Eagle Made from the Academy kit a few years back (and showing it!) I am going to spruce it up a little, make it a bit shinier and glue the wonky tailplanes back on. The Mitsi, on the other hand, is now finished As finished as it's going to be anyway. I discovered that I had thrown out a load of small parts which were still on the sprue, so I'm missing a few aerials and things. As you know, I had a big painting session where I painted the Sidewinders and the multi coloured party misssiles (no idea what they are supposed to be ) I glued it all on today, along with the slightly open canopy. I really didn't want it open but the fit was so bad it had to be. I've already snapped it off twice and glued it back on again, typical of this whole build really! So there she is. I'm cautiously happy with some aspects of the build. It started really well, I like what I did with the cockpit, the resin seat is nice (thanks to Mike) and the build itself is up to scratch. I let myself down with the finishing I feel. The initial paintjob went well but it's all gone downhill since then with problem after problem after problem. I'm happy it's done and dusted I can tell you! On the other hand, it's big, it's colourful and it's different to anything else I've done. I love the lines of the aircraft too, so similar to the Jag, but sleeker and less angular. Jen.
  19. Thankyou for some nice comments fellas I have been struggling a little bit of late, a lot of stuff on my plate and I haven't been very well either. I made some good progress yesterday though. I had gathered together (almost) all the little bits that still needed painting for the two JASDF builds and also an F-14 that needs finishing. It was quite a pile actually, but mostly black white or grey required. I got it all painted yesterday, just a few bits left to do (some masking and more colours on a couple of the bits) The Mitsubishi build continues to be troublesome, I had to repaint the landing gear doors because I discovered when I tried to fit them that I had painted them upside down I have left out the picture element of this post as I expect to have the F-1 finished within the next few evenings, so there is little point posting photos at this juncture. Jen.
  20. What's the deal with the stretched Spit mental old fruit? Pray tell..... Jen.
  21. Aaaaah, the Dragon Eagle, I got one of those I used the Academy kit though... Jen.
  22. Mike, where's the dribble-icon? That is some really lovely work there mad dude, I love the wood sheets effect. Jen.
  23. I got a few! I will do as many of them as I can. Off the top of my head there's a P-51A, a Mirage 2000, a Heller Homer Simpson, Lancastrian, ongoing stop start Me110, even a vac form Spitfire! Nice one, looking forward to it already Jen.
