  1. The second one finished today is the sublime Eduard Spitfire Mk. IXc. This is really a superb kit to put together but does seem to have more parts than are necessary, especially around the undercarriage bays. Finished pretty much OOB apart from some Eduard exhausts andthe aerial cables. Absolutely won't be the last of the Eduard Spitfires either. Comments and critique welcome Pete
  2. Finally managed to get something built after a bit of a lull. This is the first of two Spitfires across the line today and it's the latest from Airfix, the Mk.XVIII. I used the bits in the box to make it into an FR XVIII though because I had some decals that I wanted to use. Beyond that I added some resin wheels and exhausts. Not much to say about this besides the fact that it really is a fun kit to build and I'd like to add a few more if I ever get time time to finish the ever growing pile of kits that I have already. Onto the pictures and, as always comment and critique welcomed. Thanks for looking Pete
  3. Great work Stoohoo and I really like the finish you've achieved. You can't not love a well built F-14. Pete
  4. Jaw dropping as I scroll down the pictures, superb. Pete
  5. I never tire of seeing your builds Brewer, they are so beautiful built, finished and photographed. {ete
  6. Ditto what Farmerboy says, why do you need an Eduard version when you can make the Tamiya look this good. Superb modelling and photography. Pete
  7. great result and really good job on masking the markings, does look so much better than decals. Pete
  8. Hi guys, Just thought I'd chuck an SR71 in that isn't Revell. I wish it had of been though because this is a tough kit to get anything good out of. I added quite a few extras to try and spruce it up but to paraphrase a well known food eating challenge show - "In the never ending battle of man versus model........model wins". Glad to have one in the cupboard though. For completeness the extras were: Metallic Details Exhausts, Undercarriage, Nose, Grills and Intakes. Afterburner Decals SR71 Blackbirds New Ware Canopy Masks True Details Cockpit Thanks for looking Pete
  9. I'm back!! Can't believe that it's been 5 months since I updated this post. I've really been stuck in a rut and struggling for motivation to build anything lately but have been ticking on glacially, so time for a long overdue update. First thing to get done was the cockpit, which wasn't too bad. Shame that, once fitted, you can't see much without a bright light shining in. Next came getting the undercarriage parts glued together. I have to say that the Metallic Details sets are superb but do take a little bit of finesse to fit. I sprayed them in their basic colour but will dirty them up a bit more later. Then the bit that was a big cause of the lethargy on this build, fitting the vents. It's not that it was a hard job but it was very time consuming and fraught with potential disaster. I taped the vents in place and scribed around them, Then took a scalpel and began the long, long process of removing plastic. One down, nineteen to go. All done it took about ten hours of work over several days After that was simply a matter of gluing it all together. Did I say simply?, This kit is well known for being a bear to get together and it didn't disappoint. I don't ever remember having to use a clamp this size before. Patience won out though. Followed by a lot of filling around the back end. I'm sure that they'll be more once I get an undercoat on but good enough for now. Then on with the gluing bits together and a bit more filling. The resin nose fitted pretty perfectly with just a bit of sanding at the end. Finally, the grids, inlets and exhausts got added to bring us up to this morning. Nothing too painful in fitting the resin just some very careful cutting, filing and sanding. I pre-painted the exhausts internally but forgot to photograph that, so will show them later. Just got to add the last few bits now before a clean up and undercoat. Back soon, maybe. Pete
  10. Pretty amazing first entry on the forum. The weathering really sets it off. Pete
  11. Superb modelling and painting. I do like the scheme you’ve chosen too, not often seen but really looks good. Pete
  12. Having just finished the Kinetic Intruder I can empathise with the challenges that this kit presents. That said you’ve made a cracking job of it and the deck tractor looks superb too. Pete
  13. Very well modelled and finished 110 Tolga, really like it. Pete
  14. Wow, some very nice comments so thank you to all who took the time to have a peek at this build. Pete I did debate getting one of the Hobbyboss ones but haven’t yet. How does it build? I do them both in a pretty similar fashion for the paint but just go a bit dirtier on the weathering for carrier based jets. I’ve often thought that I should try salt weathering but haven’t took the plunge yet. To be fair it builds into a nice model but it’s not without some real time consuming tasks...oh a lot of cussing.
  15. Lovely looking Viggen and, as others have said, great painting and weathering skills. Pete
  16. The latest off of a very slow production line is this one from Kinetic. This is without doubt the most challenging builds that I have taken on in quite a while. The kit had several short shot parts, very few others that actually fitted without a lot of tinkering and truly sucked the fun out of modelling on several occasions. However it's done and I think I've earned my 'I took on the Kinetic Intruder and won' badge. I added the following to the build, one of which added to the challenge but is worth the effort, it being the Wolfpack cockpit set. All in all though I'm pretty pleased with the outcome and glad to have an A-6 in the display cabinet Wolfpack resin - A-6E Tram Cockpit set Master - Pitot tube, AofA probe and refuelling probe Eduard - LAU-10 Rocket Pods Eduard - GBU-16 Bombs Afterburner - Desert Storm Intruders decals Reskit - Resin Wheels As always comments and critique welcomed. Pete
  17. My pleasure Mike, glad that they came in useful. The result certainly looks good and even better sitting next to another aggressor. Pete
  18. That about what my plan was going to be billn53. I also contemplated cutting it out completely to size and then fitting a spacing piece from the inside. I guess that the decision will be made when I get the drill and saw out. Pete
  19. Cheers stoohoo, with all the extras I'll be glad, and relieved, to see it come together too. Hi Lox, I haven't worked that one out myself yet but better had because they need to be looked at fairly soon. The annoying thing for me is I only need the vents from this set as I have the resin exhausts and a lot of the other panels are part of the undercarriage set. I did seriously question my sanity in buying this set but, in the end, felt that they were worth having on the build.
  20. It's not too bad Loren because, as I said earlier, all the lines are straight apart from a couple that go around the wingtips. Just time and patience which I thankfully can still find one of 😁. Pete
  21. Time for an update methinks. I finally got the re-scribing all done and it probably took about 10 hours of work over a few sessions, so not too bad considering how big this beast is. Also took the opportunity to fit the Metallic Details Inlet Cones, which were really a simple task with just a bit to trim off of the front of the intake. A few battle scars to clean up later but all in all pretty happy so far. I think the next few hours are going to be spent cutting more plastic away to make way for extras, oh what fun. Back soon Pete
  22. I have the True Details one for it which doesn’t look too bad. I’ll find out when I start fitting it though. To be honest it’s a pretty straightforward kit to re-scribe as all the lines are straight lines. I have got all the big sections done already, just the engine/wing ends and vertical tails to do as well as some odd bits. Hopefully have all the scribing finished over the weekend. I did see a RRP for this recently and thought that £90, all but a penny, was a bit steep for a Revell kit. Then again there is a lot of plastic in it. It will be nice to see what aftermarket comes out for it too. The hypersonic start cart does look nice but I think I’ve already broke my budget on this one 😂
