  1. Great looking Zero. Agree about it being a fantastic kit too and really enjoyed building one myself. Pete
  2. This one certainly grabbed my attention, it looks absolutely stunning. Pete
  3. That really looks superb Jon. You can certainly see where the hours have been invested. A bit worrying how you rate the Reskit parts as I've got all of these in my collection ready for when I start mine 😞 Pete
  4. Absolute work of art and, I'm certain. a true test of patience too. So many details but the gondola's look amazing. Pete
  5. Amazing build and finish, looks absolutely stunning. Pete
  6. Been in a bit remiss in thanking you all for some great comments and 'Likes' on this build, so to put that right first, thank you all. Hi 28ZComeback, I used Alclad High Speed Silver for the finish. The important thing always with metal finishes is a good clean starting point, no marks on the plastic, and a good undercoat. I currently use Zero Paints grey primer, which I find gives a great even starting point and dries quickly. Next a couple of coats of the metal finish are usually enough to get a perfect top coat. Lastly, when everything else is done, a Matt coat to seal it all up. Nothing special to think about, just good prep and care. Hope this helps. Pete
  7. Lovely looking Hunter and do like the RN markings too, looks just right. Pete
  8. Cracking looking Spitfire and I'm sure that your friend will be pleased when he receives it as a gift. Pete
  9. That's a hint to put mine back in the cupboard until everyone has forgotten about yours. Absolutely superb build and definitely going to add the step to mine too, looks really good. Pete
  10. Got to love a Phantom with some bones on it. Pete
  11. Very nice looking Hellcat and very well built too. Pete
  12. Just finished the lovely Eduard Tempest II kit and what a great kit it is to build. I can't remember any part of it that causes any problems other than just old eyes and the tiny size of some of the details. Thankfully Optivisors came to the rescue and it made it to the finish line. Pretty much out of the box apart from some resin wheels, exhausts and markings from Model Alliance. I just had to build it in these markings after seeing all of the fanfare around the latest warbird to take the skies at the back end of last year. Such a beautiful restoration and really can't wait to see it fly sometime this year, hopefully. Not much more to say other than I hope you enjoy the results as much as I have and, as always, comments and critique welcomed. Onto the piccies: Apologies if there are too many pictures but I just couldn't decide which ones to leave out. Pete
  13. Thanks to all for taking time to comment or like this build, it's much appreciated. Can never be repetitive when you're telling a story like that one Tim. It truly is amazing how many coincidences life throws at us but that one must have been a goosebumps moment. I read some of the history of the Grand Slam missions and wondered how any of them ever got to the target let alone made it back. Truly courageous and remarkable people. Pete
  14. Lovely build and really looks like it was meant to be in those colours. Pete
  15. I was given this model by a friend who didn't have the time to build it and, even though it wasn't my chosen scale, couldn't wait to get on with it. The kit is pretty good out of the box but couldn't resist adding a few extras, some of which will never really be seen, but I know that they are there. Kitsworld - Operation Chastice Decals, Seat Belts and Instruments Panels. Eduard - Resin Wheels and Mask Set (God send for this amount of glazing) All went together pretty well and nothing that caused any headaches. I bought a watch a while ago which was dedicated to the Dambusters Lancaster and chose the markings to match this, P/O Les Knight's AJ-N. Pretty pleased with how it turned out and has spurred me on to add a few more 1/72 builds to the stash, like I really need to add any more 😂. Painted using Vallejo and Xtracrylix paints, glossed with AK Gauzy, weathered with Flory Models Grey and matted down at the end with VMS XXL Matt. Last bit of fun was adding the aerial wires but survived that and now safely in the display cabinet. Hope you like it and, as always, comments and critique welcomed. Pete So here she is in all her glory:
  16. Looks superb Fuad. It really is a great kit and you have absolutely made a fantastic job of it. Pete
  17. That really looks the part Alistair. I saw this one at an airshow in Canada and was amazed by the scheme. I have the kit in my stash and just need the push to start it, this might be that push. Pete
  18. Thanks for the welcome, can't wait to get going with it now. Pete
  19. Hi Cris, No, I didn't strip the carrier film off. It's already quite thin and I wasn't brave enough to attempt it. Pete
  20. Can't resist pitching in with this group build and it looks like that quite a few people feel the same way. Going to have a go at the Accurate Miniatures B-25G Mitchell, with a few extras. The Kit The Bits The Extras I've also got some decals coming which will be added to the build once they arrive. Really looking forward to getting this one underway but just a few more to get out of the way first, so back soon. Pete
  21. Thanks all for taking the time to comment or liking this build, it's much appreciated. Pete.
  22. Lovely build and the orange nose really makes it stand out. Pete
  23. Great looking Spitfire to finish the year on. Every time I see this kit it just looks so good and yours only adds to that feeling. Pete
  24. Last one for the year, short of a time machine. This is the Eduard ProfiPACK A6M2 Zero Type 21 built OOB apart from the aerial wire and what a great kit it is. It really is a pleasure of a kit to build but does require a steady hand and patience to get the best from it. I used the AK WWII IJN Aircraft Colours 3rd Generation paint set for all of the main colours and they worked flawlessly. Glossed with AK Gauzy and matted down at the end with VMS XXL Matt. Pretty sure that this won't be the last Eduard Zero that passes over my bench either but onto the pictures for this one first. As always Comments and critique welcomed. Pete
