  1. Takom are meant to be re-releasing their 432 (both their versions) in 35th, but no firm dates on that, other than `soon`.

It doesn`t take much to take Tamiya`s Challenger 1 back from it`s Granby `91 guise, to BAOR guise, especially with the help of some excellent build articles here on BM.

Did anyone mention `Accurate Armour`? They do a load of Cold War Brit stuff.

Was being a bit hyperbolic, but the wing fuselage join is an absolute mare to sort out

A lot has to be done to the RoG kit that really should have come as standard, such as the empty yawning space beyond the intakes, etc.

And the kit has deteriorated a lot in terms of quality and fit since it first came out. I noticed newer kits are much more prone to warping, deformed parts, and flash, than when originally released.

But some issues have always been there since the beginning, like that fuselage join that has irritated me over all twelve Typhoon builds.

Not insurmountable problems, but a new Airfix kit would be nice.

  3. 72nd scale shipbuilders would cherish a Wildcat model, I`m sure.

Type 45 and Type 26 both available from Fleetscale in 72nd.

The more people see Wildcat on their teleboxes over the next twenty years, the more sense it makes for airfix to produce one now.

    :)

  4. Thank you Dads203, some excellent assistance!

I have sought out Wogga`s build and it is just the ticket, as well as being an exceptional bit of work.

Very much appreciate being steered in the right direction! 👍

    Cheers, Ian

  5. Thanks for the replies.

I have no idea about this subject matter, but it was the radio relay FV439 vehicle with the masts etc stowed on the roof, that I was going to model.

Ptarmigan Triffid/Radio Relay FV439 - Military Scale Models - HMVF - Historic Military Vehicles Forum

I understood, possibly wrongly, that the Wavell system was fitted to a separate vehicle designated FV435, with a large box structure to the rear of the hull, so started a separate thread for that.

I was looking to do both, but I know next to nothing about either.

    Thanks again, Ian

  6. Hi all

Info on this vehicle seems very hard to come by. Internet pics all seem to be from distance and all the wibbly bits seem to be covered in tarps.

Any source out there for more on this vehicle?

    TIA

    Ian

  7. Hi all

I`ve Googled the FV439 and got back some helpful pics. I still think I need an education and better pics if I`m to model one. Is there a go-to site for info? Am I correct in saying there were two main types with the difference being the generator housing on the roof?

    TIA

    Ian

  8. I have been informed that Academy still catalogues the Warrior as available and delivery is expected at some point in the future, out of model shop`s control. Which is fair enough in the current climate.

When they turn-up-they turn-up; I can wait, got plenty to be going on with. :)

Apart from the price, what's wrong with the new Meng kit?  Too late for the period you want?  Not sure how easy backdating will be.  We may yet see an earlier version from Meng, but they're not one of the companies renowned for multiple version kits.

You`re spot-on; I`m wanting a basic Warrior from late eighties/nineties and that seems a whole lot easier/economical with the Academy kit. Academy still list the kit on their website which is why I asked the question. I shall wait and see....got plenty time on my hands and a long build queue.

    Thanks for the assists.

I haven't a clue if you can backdate the Bulldog with this kit but I have to ask, why? If you want a FV432 Mk1/2 in 1/35, get Takom's sister kit?

Me on the other hand build in 1/72 and I want a Bulldog...still waiting.

    Stuart

Dads203 post is why, they`ve been hooked by Takom..... and doesn`t Cromwell Models do a Bulldog in 72nd? On The Way models has a listing for 72nd scale Bulldogs.

Fraid not, you’ll need to find the other boxing if you can. They are getting rare as rocking horse :poop: though and commanding quite high prices if you can find one.

The standard 35th scale FV432 has been removed from sale but the Bulldog is still available. I was hoping to backdate but Mr Dads says not possible. Thank you sir, saved me wasting fifty quid that has.

  11. As I understand it, the five T31 are `constabulary` ships that could be upgraded in a crisis, whereas the T32 will be built from the get-go as a high-end frigate. There still is a multi-billion hole in the MoD budget, even with this new money, so something has to give somewhere.

  12. Does seem the consensus that the Type 32 will be a Type 31 on steroids. The fact that most no-one seems to know, and some aren`t saying, suggests that this is the early stage of a long process. The Type 26 and Type 31 are not expected in service before 2027; one imagines the Type 32 sometime after that. Commonality with the Type 31 should help though. A possible escort force of 24 ships! Who`d have thunk it!
