I selected the following colors for my su-22, haven't received the yet so cannot comment on how close they are. Just bought the Baghdad Fury at 08 Open in Stockholm. Price was 320sek around 35€. Looks good in the box, have to get a better look and check references tomorrow when I get home. I didn't get any instructions as they had forgotten them in Ukrain but I was promiced a pdf version in a few days. Michael

Looking good so far, going to follow this.

A few months of almost no modeling, but now some small progress. The interior is almost done, The instrument panel had no decals or any molded detail. Also some areas where very soft and other had a very sharp edge. The half engine, not much will be seen of it on the completed model. Again at the front some of the molded detail had vanished, even with a wash it did not bring out all of the detail. To prevent a tail sitter some liquid gravity was glued with gator glue on the bottom of the engine and on the fuselage sides. The wing has been glued together and some alclad grey primer sprayed on the leading edge. There has already been one pass with filler and sanding. The leading edge really need a lot of filler. Next is getting the fuselages halves together and the wing glued to the fuselages. Michael

Just got the new tarangus kit of the Safir. The first look is that it is a short run kit but the part look really good. Going to make this one as Finnish Air Force version and straight out of the box. The part count is low, no PE or resin in the box. The picture shows all the parts except the clear parts and the decals. The construction started with cockpit and as a part of that assembly was the nose wheel whell. As you can see there is a big protruding mark in the bottom (stood up around 2-3mm). As the well was deep and narrow I had to get my chisel out and it turned out really nice. Just put some extra thin cement on it after the picture to remove any chisel marks. Some of the steps in the instructions really needs an experienced modeller as there are no location marks for most of the parts. One thing I had to redo was the placement of the nose wheel well as I first glued it too high up, realized it when doing trial fitting with the fuselage. Really good the cement was still a little bit soft. After a cleanup the seats fitted really well onto the cockpit floor. The location of the sprue gates makes cleanup a little bit harder. Then a trial fitting with the fuselage and all seems to fit in Next thing is to get some grey paint in the cockpit Michael

Thanks Andy, that thread you linked was just the info I was looking for. It just didn't reveal it self when I was using the search function. It seems that the airfix markings are right, earlier F/FR.46 had the two tone upper but it was later changed (short interpretation of the thread linked ) Michael

I'm just about to start building the airfix seafire FR.46 in 1/48 (the new boxing). Looking at photos all FR.46 Ihave seen are in Extra Dark Sea Grey / Dark Slate Grey with Sky undersurfaces. The Airfix instruction is giving the top color as only Extra Dark Sea Grey. Which one would be more correct to go by? Michael

The Draken is finally done Had a little dash last week as I had to get i done for a show yesterday. More photos will be posted in RFI later today. Michael

Starting to look like a plane Forgot to paint one of the antennas, so a little kling film and some tamiya tape The AIM-9's are ready and waiting to get mounted on the plane, looking at the close ups I need to do some touch up on the painting. All the decals are on except the no walk decal on the intake (got to do some dry brushing to get it to look more like glass fiber) The decals in this edition is very thick and they don't want to settle down. Used both Micro SOL and Mr Mark Softer but still silvering and the edge of the decals are very visible. I will do some correction with paint on the silvering but allowing the matt varnish to dry. Looking nice, just waiting for this kit to get to my LHS. Just fell in love with the Lansen when I saw a few of them last summer in museums in Sweden.

Thanks. The green stuff is Mr Maskin Sol, just masked the rest of the gear leg to paint the moving portion in alclad chrome. Christer, thanks. I got the pitot tube for the fin and nose from maestro models. Keeping them off until the end to avoid damage. Michael
