You might also try Internet Modeller (sp?). As I recall, they did many reviews of Pegasus kits, though I'm not sure they're (IM) still around. As Paul says, early kits were kind of crude, but later kits were pretty nice, as far as the exterior molding -- for short run kits of that time. I've only built the Siemens-Schuckert D III (the last of the 3 permutations of that kit) and the Bristol M1C. The SS D III (final form only?) had a nice metal cowling/front engine support, and turned out very well. Well, except for the fact that I got the (home-made) interplane struts shorter than the cabane struts, so the upper wing looks kind of droopy. And the info I had at the time said the fuselage/tail surfaces were ALL red. In fact, as a photo that I found a couple years later clearly showed, the rudder was the standard white. A few years ago I found another copy, but there are so many others that are now in the front of the queue, it may never get to be replaced. A real shame, because I think I did a pretty good job on it otherwise. And it was my first attempt (also pretty successful) at lozenge decals, so it has that sentimental value😒. Overall, I like the Pegasus kits, and have quite a few of them. Waiting.

Hope I'm not mis-remembering this, but -- Albatros issued a couple different Fokker D VII publications -- an anthology in 3 (?) volumes, as well as the Datafile. The earlier pub (not sure which is which) got much of the louvre combos wrong, then corrected them in the later pubs. I think.

Icedtea and Dave, I bought the KP Salmson a few months ago. I've always found that an interesting airplane, oddly enough. Also have the Pegasus. So I hope that you'll both be posting in-process commentaries (with lots of photos) as you go along). I have the Eduard DH 2, unbuilt. I have mixed feelings about getting to it. I know it is a superior kit compared to the Revell, but I built the Revell kit about 30 years ago (?) and was quite pleased when it came out rather well, especially since it was early on in my attempts at WWI rigging. As I recall, it was done as a mass Brit WWI build effort -- the Airfix Avro 504K, the DH 2, Revell Sopwith Camel, and, I think, the Airfix Sopwith Pup., and a re-build/re-paint of the Revell Sopwith triplane (so I could rig it). As you may imagine, I was really glad when they were all done. Looking forward to seeing the DH2, and of course all the Salmsons.

Nice beginning, Jean! I have the 223.4, so am regarding your progress with great interest. Not that I will be getting to it any time soon, but your article will be a great reference. And I'm going to have to make my own window locations -- and windows? Good heavens. Do I see indications on the nacelles that the main struts are butt-joints?. Good heavens again. Eivind, Your streaks look great! And to my eye, all 3 wing surfaces look chordwise? Thanks for the tip, I might have never noticed that when I finally got to mine.

Eivind, A great job at every step! Your woodwork actually looks quite good. I don't think the clear orange hurt it at all. As for your streaks, I'm guessing your research has informed you that each surface was streaked at a different angle? As I'm a great believer in cheating (at modelling), could I recommend the Aviattic decals? One sheet of the Fokker Triplane decals has 3 sets for the DR. I and one set for an F. I. I haven't used the Fokker Triplane decals, but have used their German Naval hexes, Fokker D.VII lozenge, and the Austro-Hungarian sworls. They take a bit of practice and finagling, but they have all come out quite nicely, I think. But don't misunderstand me -- your streaks really are quite good. The other point in favor of decals is that they solve your drying time and clear coat dilemmas. Very much looking forward to your progress and completion! I have every intention of doing a Kempf myself someday, so your article will be instructive. (Thanks)

Not sure about right now, but about 5 years or so ago, I ordered a sizeable number of Misterkit paints directly from them. As I recall, there was a bit of back-and-forth (problem with the order form?), but I did after a few weeks, get my order. I recommend their paint -- and I really don't like water-based paint. I've used several of their colors, and they always come out beautifully. With, of course, the exception of some of their early bottles, which is certainly part of their storied history. I'm going to have to buckle down and get back to Imgur and see if I can learn how to post pictures on here. No promises.

For a minute or two I thought I was losing my mind. I was sure I had used the Misterkit Battleship Grey on a WWI build, but all my Brit WWI builds pre-date my use of Misterkit. Just before I called on the little men in the white coats to come and get me, I spotted my Matchbox Siskin. The section behind the cockpit (radio compartment?) is a lightish grey, somewhat lighter than the grey on the Bristol above. Just got out my copy of "British Aviation Colours of World War Two". It is a little bit lighter than the chip for "Sky Grey". So is that (the Misterkit) too light?

Misterkit produces it as a rather light grey, rather than medium to dark. Is this not likely, or absolutely not correct?

But no one actually answered the question -- is PART still in business. It sounds like they're not, but I'd like to know, as well. I have many of their sets, but still have many kits for which their sets are still "needed".

Ray, All things considered, I think my next build will be a tank. But seriously, what amazing, phenomenal work!!! I've got all those Rodens hiding in the cabinet -- Gothas, Zep Staakens, and Felixstowes,, even the Bat GL VII (looks considerably more simple than the Roden Gothas -- it has one-piece wings, both upper and lower!) and have been marveling and having nightmares over them at the same time. But your work is absolutely inspiring. So, maybe, someday soon ... OK, you just inspired me enough to pull out the G. II to have a look. Good heavens that fuselage is tiny! Looking at your build epic, the pictures make it look like 1/32, but that plastic is definitely 1/72. So your work is that much more amazing. Also note that PART made (makes?) PE sets for all(?) of the Gothas, at least, and I have an Extratech set for the G. II/III also waiting for me in the box. My heartiest congratulations!!! Bob C

Roman, That certainly did come out wonderfully. In fact, you've tempted me to seek one out, and now I'm wondering a couple things. Hannants has 3 or 4 different A-9/F-9 boxings -- can you tell which one you used, by stock # or description? And did you use Mr. Hobby's versions of 82/83, or some other generic bottle? Were the decals you used in the kit, or aftermarket? Again, very nicely done!

Having seen a post re this project here on BM, I ordered, on 12-31-22, the book, the kit, the little fund badge, and the print. I received the book on 3-3-23, the kit on 3-13-23, and nothing since then. I emailed them on 3-27, got no response. Does anyone know anything about what's going on with them? Did they bite off more than they could chew? I'm about to ask for a refund, but would prefer to receive the missing items.

Not sure if I should add to this old thread, or start new topic, but here goes. As stated above, I ordered a few items from the AA810 restoration project site. I placed my order on Dec 31, 2022. I ordered the kit, the book, the poster, and the little badge thingy. I received the book on 3-3-23, the kit on 3-13-23, and nothing since. Does anyone have any info? Is there a problem with the project? I sent an inquiry to them on 3-27-23, but still haven't gotten an answer. Is there something I should know? Thanks for any info, folks. Bob C
