  1. Very nice pair of Tridents there Derek. The BEA red square scheme is quintessentially British and a wonderful reminder of times watching these from the Queens Building at Heathrow. Who doesn’t love a red square!?

Did the F-RSIN model need nose weight? I’m guessing the long forward fuselage may help it sit on the nose without any extra weight.

    Excellent models.

  2. There are plans by the Solway Aviation Museum in Carlisle to save the last remaining Blackburn Beverley which has an uncertain future at Fort Paull in Hull. As you can imagine, it's a big aircraft to dismantle and move so the Museum is currently fund raising to ensure the aircraft has a brighter future. Have a look at the Museum's website for details. They need to raise £60,000 and are already approaching quarter of the way there after around a week of campaigning. I have no links with the museum but I fully support their aim to protect this aircraft for future generations, as I'm sure other Britmodellers will too. More details are on the museum's website at https://www.solway-aviation-museum.co.uk

  3. Excellent show today - well done to all the organisers and volunteers. Some great nostalgic displays to celebrate the 60th anniversary of IPMS, lots of stunning entries in the competition and great to see a truly international attendance this year.

I don’t know if it was just my not noticing before but I was surprised to see how much 3D printing is featuring in our hobby now, it’s certainly come a long way and there’s some great examples of 3D printing of many subjects.

I treated myself to a 144.co.uk resin Royal Navy Phantom kit - all the 144.co.uk stuff is outstanding!

The 2 minute silence was well organised and very moving, you could hear a pin drop.

    Roll on 2024!

I'm guessing that a printed version of the membership would be OK. We should only have a small number of 'digital' membership cards to deal with. I'd also see if you can save the PDF directly onto your phone to allow you to access it without going to your email. These days a lot of phones also allow you to take a screenshot of what's on your phone screen and save it as a photo. (should be feasible on most recent smart phones. I know mine can but I've never tried it so don't ask me how) :)

That’s worked for me. I have a digital membership this year and the image of the card is at the end of the email. I just zoomed into the image and took a screenshot - just in case the email decides to pack up when I’m in the queue!

To be honest, I think I’d prefer a digital membership card, it’s much easier to find than the plastic one!

  5. Thanks Dave, I've just done that and downloaded the Jan '23 issue.

It's a reasonable deal at Key Publishing at £2.92 an issue - if you go to Pocketmags it works out at £4 per issue, despite the Key Publications delivering your copy via Pocketmags. Must be some fancy economic reasons for that!

  6. I'm a subscriber too and also noticed Aeroplane Monthly wasn't out yet on the system. I did send an email to them but no response at all so far. I have noticed in the past that when a magazine title is dropped, even the copies you have already downloaded disappear very quickly. Fingers crossed they get these Key Publishing titles back up again.

  7. What a lovely job Michael -well done!.

If you hadn't told us about the challenges encountered we'd never have noticed!! Many thanks for pointing them out though, it's good to know where potential problems lie for anyone else who will be making one. Also good to hear that the Caracal decals worked well, I've just bought some for an EC121 Warning Star in 1/144 so it's reassuring that any problems will be of my own making rather than the decals!

Many thanks for sharing this with us.

  8. That’s a lovely model Kevin - well done. It’s nice to see such an unusual subject, I’d say that would a good case for displaying the model of a mirror so the RF84 can be more easily seen, but your base looks good too. Great to have a good idea of the size of it with figures - makes you realise how big it is! SAC is a good film! I hope you’ve got somewhere big enough to display it!.

  9. So sorry to hear this news, my condolences to his family.

I was always like a kid in a candy shop whenever I visited TAHS in Horton Road. I’m sure that’s what got me going on airliners. Almost anytime we went down the M4 I tried to wangle a trip off the motorway to drop in for a look round!.
