    I indeed did not - this had occurred to me. After reading the replies, of course. From what Alan P says, the thickening seems to have been very subtle - it's only the enlarged mainwheels that really stand out.

    Thanks very much for this, definitely helpful. I've Googled G-Factor, and seen some of their products forsale in various online model shops, mostly Stateside. I've not seen any 1/72 legs at all, and they don't appear to have a website. Does anybody know of any contact details for them?

    Here's another query respectfully submitted to the hivemind. I am planning an early F-15, and now that Scale Aircraft Conversions have belatedly introduced a set of white metal F-15E gear legs, I'm wondering whether they would be appropriate. I know that the wheels of the E are larger than those of the earlier Hens, but what about the legs themselves. The nosegear leg appears to be pretty constant throughout the aircraft's evolution, but I'm unsure about the main gear legs. TIA.

    Here is my build of the old Italeri kit - pretty accurate overall, with just some of the flying surface furniture, the internal primary structure, and some other details needing to be added. The Starthilfe packs were robbed from the Frog/Revell Ar234.

    Here's a question for the Eagle gurus. Has the F-15 had the LAU-128/ADU-552 Sidewinder/AMRAAM launch rails throughout its career, or have they only been introduced in recent years? I'm building an early Hen, and was wondering whether I should invest in Metallic Details' resin replacement set. TIA.

    Here's another two decade-old build, restored somewhat and improved with the addition of Tasman Models drop tanks. An F.20 of 771 NAS at RNAS Ford in the early 1950s.

    Here's an old build, renovated somewhat a couple of years ago: the old Premiere kit of the Sea Venom, in the markings of 890 NAS, RNAS Yeovilton/HMS Ark Royal, 1956.

    Igor's great - I would have said, however, that he caters for anything and everything that's strange, not just Luft'46.

    Not too bad - very nicely engineered, with several features that I wish we'd see more of (that main gear leg locking system was brilliant). Very definitely meant to be put together according to the fairly detailed instructions, however. I did have some stability problems with mounting the empennage atop the fin stub.

    Here's my build of the Skybirds '86 kit, with the outer drop tanks substituted by AGM-12D Bullpup AGMs, converted from the items in the Hasegawa weapons set. Markings for 803 NAS on the Ark during 1965.

    Hello, the build was pretty straightforward, even with the extensive interior scratchbuilding. I've got a report over at: http://www.arcair.com/Gal15/14301-14400/gal14389-Ka430-Parnaby/00.shtm The few references that exist describe the aircraft as having been built to an RLM specification for an assault glider larger than the DFS230 and smaller than the Go242. Several were built, but got no further than the service test stage (this is one of the prototypes, without the turret above the flight deck that the eventual production machines were to have).

    My build of the 1/72 Huma kit. Largely OOB, apart from the interior framing and outsize swastika from a Microscale sheet.

    I know this topic has been aired before, but it wasn't dealt with in a particularly conclusive manner. I'm looking at painting an X-20 Dynasoar, which had an all-black thermal paint scheme, similar to the SR-71, at least for our purposes, and was wondering how best to go about it. Would it be a case of praying it flat back and then layering it up with enough Klear to support decals, then bringing it back down with flat varnish? Or are there more elaborate ways that people can recommend? TIA.

    Being rather inexperienced at this, I'm afraid, I've put a number of walkarounds that I put together at the FAAM last year in the Aircraft Resources section as individual topics. To wit, these are the Wessex, Whirlwind, Sea Vampire, Seahawk, and Short S.27. You couldn't move them under here for me, could you, please?

    I've got a natural metal build coming up and was going to use Alclad, but having seen this done, I'm becoming very enthusiastic about AK metallics. I would just like to clarify how you handled the decals. Did you apply them directly to the metallic? How did you seal them afterwards? TIA, Gavin
