  1. Excellent subject and build. These old Monogram kits can still be turned into great models just like yours is. Gary
  2. Great build and finish Dave and the F8 is a deceptively large aircraft. Love it! Gary
  3. Fantastic work so far. That pagoda design looks like the maritime version of a 'Catch the Pigeon' cartoon aircraft creation..! Really looking forward to the painting phase. Gary
  4. Fabulous work on the stack. Don't worry too much about any 'errors' with minute bits of PE as these photos will magnify any irregularities much greater than the human eye can see anyway. Once some primer and paint is on as well, it all tends to blend in just fine. Excellent work thus far on a great subject! Gary
  5. Excellent choice (have this kit in the 'to do' pile) and a cracking start. I shall follow this build with great interest. Thanks for sharing the work and with any advice/tips/probs as you work through it. Gary
  6. This is a masterclass in model ship building and the weathering and rigging are especially impressive. Superb model! Gary
  7. Best build of this kit I have seen and the cowling metal effects are particularly well done. Brilliant! Gary
  8. Thanks for raising this matter. Yes, this has happened on some of my builds as well including a couple of WNW kits I rigged. For some reason, the line has lightened and turned like a pale grey from the original black. The models are in closed cabinets, not in any direct light and the 'stretch' on the lines was literally, just beyond the extension length so there was no excessive 'stretching' of the line either. Connection points were with thin super glue which have held but the line seems to be 'ghosting' along the length of the line. This is concerning but oddly reassuring it isn't something I 'have done' if you are having the same problems. The models are only about 3 years old as well so this does not bode well for some of my other builds since using this stuff either. Have any others had any like issues with E-Z line or the similar 'Ushi' stuff which I have but still haven;t tried yet..? My E-Z line BTW was bought directly from WNW before they closed/went into suspended animation (as applicable) so I know I did not buy any copied or sub standard stuff. Any ideas please? Gary
  9. Perfect weathering effects for a 'end of cruise' appearance carrier aircraft. Marvellous modelling and paintwork. Any pictures of the lower surfaces please..? Gary
  10. Now on Hannants site chaps and prices are very reasonable (about original RRP) considering what they could have potentially sold them for. "Get em' whilst they last"! Gary
  11. Really nice build and progress. Incidentally, don't get too concerned about "the correct turret number" as when I build my Dragon 1/35 Tiger 1 of the V-B engagement, the general consensus (then) was that Wittman's turret number for that action was '212'. There have been numerous opinions and theories put forward over the years with all manner of 3-digit variations starting with '2' proposed, but the reality is that short of a belated photo find and confirmed to the day of the action, no one will ever (really) know what the number on his Tiger turret was that day. As such, your guess and decision for this build is as good as the next modellers on this subject. Look forward to seeing more great progress with your build. Cheers. Gary
  12. Breathtaking work - what a superb and deeply impressive result! Gary
  13. Fantastic model and you absolutely nailed the camo colours. That's a superb overall build and finish. Gary
  14. Fantastic model and the camo work is especially impressive. How was the build of the model itself please? Gary
  15. Agree with Kingsman having seen the real thing at Bovington; they are incredibly well engineered for their actual purpose. When I see some AFV kits with 'texturing', it makes them look like someone took a sandblaster to them in 1/1 scale rather than paint and a spray gun. Even in 1/16, I doubt you would see 'texturing' and especially so as I couldn't see any even at 1/1 scale. Look at the T-34 however and that's another matter, as that vehicle is positively agricultural and crude by comparison. The Trump 1/16 kits for what they are are superb (I have the Panther G Early & Pz IVH kits) and kits like this were unimaginable even just a few years ago and are a bargain compared to what Tamiya charge for their 1/16 range of AFVs which are aimed more at the RC gang than static armour modellers. Build and enjoy. Gary
  16. Absolutely brilliant - 10/10 - and thanks for the tips re. building issues for when mine arrives. Gary
  17. Excellent work and a great looking model. Well done mate! Gary
  18. Fabulous work and a perfect representation of the IDF camo scheme. Gary
  19. That's a great build and as you say it is a lovely kit as i am just building the 215 version myself at the moment. Gary
  20. Fabulous work Christian on a difficult camouflage scheme to replicate. Wonderful work with the airbrush. Gary
  21. Absolutely superb modelling and finish. Gary
