  1. I tried to do a Brazilian Skyhawk once - the problem was the warm wax distorted the plastic!
  2. When I looked earlier this year, there was nothing available. You have to make your own, fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand.................................................... unless John Aero is going to produce anything?
  3. So the Airfix kit radome diameter would be 1.872m (6' 1 3/4") whilst the Revell one would be 1.584m (5 ' 2 1/2 "). That's quite a difference, does anybody have access to the real thing and can tell us what the actual diameter is? I would bet it lies somewhere between the two!
  4. Simple question - what is the actual diameter of the radome, and what are the diameters of the Revell & Airfix ones? doh - speling!!
  5. I put mine in an electric screwdriver, turn it slowly and use a fine brush. Gets reasonable results.
  6. It's hard to read the serials, but they appear to be EN784 & EN781. According to Spitfire The Historyby Morgan & Shacklady, those serials were Spitfire F mk Vb Merlin 45, although some EN series aircraft were completed as Vc models. Edgar may know better.
  7. They both look great - I love the Aussie bird. Can't have too many Eagles on the shelf.
  8. The F-14s used were F-14A models. I don't know what scale you are working in, but a search at ARC should give you a lead as to the best kits. Markings were created for the film. Airfix licenced them, and did an issue of their 1:72 kit with them in, but I believe there are no aftermarket sets due to licensing problems with Paramount Studios. Aftermarket depends on the scale. Again check ARC as the Tomcat experts hang out there. Mig 28s were F-5E & F-5F models. F-5Es are available from 32 scale down to 144 scale.
  9. Give it a good stir and paint some onto some scrap plastic and see what colour it dries. I don't remember anything being wrong with the old Humbrol Authentics Mid Stone - but it's a long while since I used it.
  10. Has anybody got contact details for Magna, as I need to get in touch with them?
  11. Well if you have the time and patience, start with an Airfix Nimrod and end up with a Comet. Like this.
  12. Martin is right! They are here. Scroll down the page to find them.
  13. I remember seeing one on the Aussie Modeller website converted from a Matchbox Do 28, though I believe "Uncle Les" does a kit of it as well. I don't think High Planes did one, though I might be wrong on that.
  14. Can an Admin either validate or delete this thread. I quote: "Whilst new members are of course very welcome to this site, those who show up just to offload kits or trade should bear in mind that the majority of people on this site will not trade with you unless you are a known quantity. Not someone with one post and thats it - posters with less than 30 meaningful posts on the forum will have their topics closed. Please bear that in mind to avoid disapointment as the natives can sometimes be restless. Regards The Moderating Team " In the meantime, caveat emptor!
  15. Next guess - sky band overpainted in Ocean Grey?
  16. A word of warning - I quite like the Airfix F-4 but it has the thin wings only applicable to the F-4A,B & N models. It can make up into a nice model with some detail added.
  17. An educated guess only, I'm afraid but I'd go for Dark Green, Ocean Grey, Medium Sea Grey with a Sky fuiselage band, codes in Red with a White outline and a Red spinner.
  18. I also used Xtracylix Red Arrows Red on my Airfix 72 scale Hawk. Looks fine to me.
  19. That is excellent - I had been thinking of doing something similar myself. A wonderful whif.
  20. I'd check the gauge of that railway - I think Russian railways are on a different one to the rest of Europe - is there an expert in the house?
  21. Seek and you will find. Wondeful thing, Google.
  22. Not strictly WW2, but Spitfire 21/22/24 and Seafire 45/46/47. At a reasonable price so I can afford to buy several, so that means from a mainstream manufacturer (are you listening Airfix?).
  23. FGH That is a marvellous piece of work, but I for one would love a fuller explanation. How and where was the fuselage shortened? Tou tell us about the fin but what about the tailplanes? What did you do to the wings? Did you scratchbuild the indercarriage or modify the kit one? This is an excellent build and I'm sure we'd like to know so much more about it.
  24. C scale did a rather nice white metal Pave Tack Pod - they do appear 'under the table' at model shows and also very occasionally on Ebay.
