I remember when my wife went off to see an exhibition by a local artist in Marlow. She viewed the pictures, had a few words with the artist but was disappointed she couldn't afford to buy a picture. The local artist was Rolf Harris, so we dodged the bullet there by not being able to afford a picture.

The voice of football for most of my life - many of todays commentators should study the way he did his job and try to emulate him.

I remember when Series 1 were 2 shillings, Series 2 were 3 shillings and Series 3 were 4 shillings and sixpence. For the kiddies out there, that's 10p, 15p & 23p in the new fangled decimal money.

I used a set from Model Art on my conversion. Went on beautifully.

The original twelve episodes were great, but it was not the John Cleese show, it was an ensemble piece. Where will it be without Manuel (Andrew Sachs - deceased), Sybil (Prunella Scales - no longer performing), the Major (Ballard Berkley - deceased), Polly (Connie Booth - retired) and the rest. And I understand the backing for it comes from Rob Reiner and his wife in the USA - heaven forfend it is made in Hollywood. I think it should be left as one of the funniest UK TV comedies as any new production will suffer by comparison.

Ever get unexpected items in used/estate sale kit?
Nigel Bunker replied to marvinneko's topic in Chat
I bought a Fujimi F-14 'under the table' at a model show many years ago. I decided to finally build it during lockdown and when I opened the box, in it was an Italeri F-14 kit. Oh well, some you win............... -
Building an F-4D by using an………F-4B?
Nigel Bunker replied to DrumBum's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Wings - the F-4B (and F-4N) had 'thin' wings whilst all other marks had thicker wings to accomodate the wider mainwheels. So you'll need new wheels as well, note that USAF F-4s had different wheel hubs from USN F-4s. Also as you said USAF cockpits were different to USN covkpits as F-4B, J, N & S models (also F-4K &M models) incorporated a refuelling probe which meant the rear cockpit had no right hand side console. Lastly the F-4D had longer exhaust nozzles than the F-4B. I think you'd be better building your kit as an F-4B and getting an F-4D kit. -
Difference is 24/20=1.20 so 1/20 is 20% bigger than 1/24.

Painting Luftwaffe spinner spirals
Nigel Bunker replied to Blimpyboy's topic in Aviation Photography
I don't think he pre-shaded it either, I didn't realise Luftwaffe standards were slipping in 1942. -
The refuelling probe on the F-111K was to be situated centrally in front of the canopy, but unlike the Buccaneer it was retractable, not fixed.

1:35 scale postwar British tank transporters?
Nigel Bunker replied to bootneck's topic in AFV Cold War
Mike, you're a modeller. Isn't the answer obvious - kits above all. -
I am planning on building a 1/32 Phantom FG.1 in a similar way I built a 1/32 Phantom FGR.2 from a Revell F-4F kit here. My biggest problem is finding an aerosol for Extra Dark Sea Grey. In the old days, before my wife died we would go to Halfords, I'd give her a colour swatch and she'd find me a matching colour. As I'm colourblind, I can't do this for myself and my attempts at colour matching have given people a good laugh. Can anybody give me a colour match, ideally Halfords but I'll take any suggestions you have.

I remember watching the Brazil-England match in the 1970 World Cup. As an England supporter, every time that Pele got the ball in the last third of the pitch I remember being worried he would score. For me, forget Maradonna and Messi, Pele was the greatest football player ever.

Sikorsky protests US Army's FLRAA award to Bell Textron
Nigel Bunker replied to Slater's topic in Real Aviation
I see Boeing is involved, the Violet Elizabeth Bott of American Aerospace. For those who never read the Just William books, if she didn't get her way she'd promise 'I'll thcream and thcream 'till I'm thick'. -
BS 4800 evolved from the Schedule of Paint Colours for Building Purposes first prepared by the Pigments, Paints and Varnishes Standards Committee in 1972, and was later revised in 2011, BS 381 is older, first published in 1930 whilst the BS381C we are familiar with was published in 1948. BS 381 was developed for signalling and coding, camouflage and identification for bodies like the armed forces and government departments.

This might do better in AFV Modelling WW2 section.

If it's the newer Airfix Sea King (first issued 2015), it is pretty well complete with an interior and also the folded rotor blade option. The old Airfix Sea King (first issued 1969) was pretty bare inside and needed all the help it could get.

Oh how I miss Edgar when Spitfire questions arise.

I suggest if you want to build a Tomcat, you build a couple of other kits first to practice your kit building otherwise you will build a Tomcat then in 6 months lok at it and say to yourself "I could have done so much better". I'll leave it to others to recommend kits but what scale are you thinking of?

Defence review 2021 (was - RAF Hercules to be withdrawn?)
Nigel Bunker replied to Paul821's topic in Real Aviation
To quote issue 1585, page 38 of Private Eye "Meanwhile, Aviation Week reported in August that several A400Ms were grounded at RAF Brize Norton, with no propellors attached, due to a parts shortage." -
High Speed Silver is a paint, definitely not natural metal finish.
