  1. Miss Moneypenny, send in 007 - I want to take a closer look at the model.
  2. F-38 is the best kept secret....ever.
  3. Hello Vinster How to build up a reference library the Bunker way. First, look in second hand bookshops and charity shops and if you see a book that intrigues you, buy it. Also keep a look out for library sales where they dispose of books they no longer read at a cheap rate. Also second hand books are often found 'under the table' at model shows (but not the big Telford show) where they can be purchased very reasonably. Secondly, if you're going to build a kit then buy a book on that kit. Recommendations have been made previously about specific book series and it's been good advice. If buying new or second hand books online, there are other choices rather than just Amazon. I use Abebooks.co.uk for second hand books and for newer ones I like Books, etc who ship post free. Third, don't be afraid to hand out wanted book lists for Christmas or Birthday, along with where people can get them from. I.e a note like "Scruggs Wondaplane in WW2 by N E Body, on Amazon at £14.75" should get you what you want, stop you getting dubious socks or aftershave and save the present giver the job of wandering around shops thinking "What can I buy for Vinster?". Lastly, join your local model club. At mine we have a table every month where people put magazines and books they no longer need and others can take these for free. Also it's a sad fact of life but older modellers are passing away and their relatives donate the books to a model club just to get the books out of the way. So building a library takes time and there are no instant answers. I built my library up this way and at the ripe old age of 65, I now have several thousand. Good hunting. Nigel
  4. The dog house is the big lump on top of the fuselage on which the main rotors are mounted.
  5. When I went to secondary school in 1965, we used the CGS system but by the time I was taking O-levels in 1970 we were on the MKS (or SI) system. That's Metres Kilogram Seconds. and moving from CGS to SI was just a matter of moving the decimal point. I used the SI system during all of my career in engineering (until I ended up at an aerospace subcontractor where some things were made in inches as they were for our cousins across the pond) measuring in millimetres or metres, depending on the size. Never ever used centimetres.
  6. If your wife sees you coming in through the door with a Monogram B-36 box, Peacemaker is definitely the wrong name for it.
  7. Easy - e-mail the USAF and ask how much they want for one.
  8. Google is your friend. Type DC-3 G-AJIC and you will see they are for a 1/72 BEA DC-3. The big ones go on the wings.
  9. I think it depends on what you want. I like a constant scale so everything I build is in 1/72 which has let me go from a KC-10 to a Pitts Special, and it means I can obtain a kit of almost any aircraft. But it's your choice.
  10. Hi Filippo You might get more replies if you post this in the AFV Modelling section - you're in the SAircraft section. Don't worry, you're not the frist to make this mistake, and you won't be the last! Regards Nigel
  11. Wait till they are at 40,000 ft, the computer crashes and all the control tower can come up with is "Have you tried turning it off and switching it on again?". They will be praising Martin-Baker.
  12. Yes they do occasional reprints, like the Mirage IIIO book. Also, I find second hand book prices are cheaper on Abe Books.
  13. My two pence worth is in the Sci-Fi section.
  14. Well if thr German government buys it, Revell will almost certainly kit it. Otherwise it depends on how well the actual helicopter sells as to whether it gets kitted. My guess, for what it is worth, is that you won't see a kit of it for at least 5 years.
  15. Tamiya does Zimmerit set to suit its own King Tiger Porsche Turret. The link is here . I am guessing it should fit similar kits by other makers.
  16. For once, the man without the satellite dish can gloat. Picard on Amazon and Star Trek Discovery on Netflix, nice.
  17. Hello Ian This may link help you. I have built the T.4 and it's a very nice kit.
  18. Well the Israeli Air Force operated: 46 A-4E 90 A-4H 117 A-4N 25 TA-4H I believe these were all delivered with the standard short exhaust but they were later modified with an extension to the exhaust nozzle to aid against SAMs. I think you need to find a photograph of the one you intend to model. If you can get them, the Fujimi kits are the best (A-4E or A-4F for the A-4E & H, A-4M for the A-4N and TA-4F or TA-4J for the TA-4H. Unless anybody else knows better......................................?
  19. I'm guessing that there is an apprentice out in the yard at Hornby with a big pack of wire wool who has been told to clean the rust off of the moulds and they don't think he'll be finished before May 2020, hence the delay.
  20. From Falcon's website: Where to buy Falcon products United Kingdom Hannants - www.hannants.co.uk Germany Modellbau und Technik Agentur (MOTAG) – www.motag.de Modellbaustudio Rhein Ruhr – www.classic-plane-mrr.de Italy Misterkit – www.misterkit.com Pronto Model – www.prontomodel.com Australia Just Planes – www.justplanes.com.au High Planes Models – www.hiplanes.com Jays Hobby Products – www.jaysmodelkits.com New Zealand Jays Hobby Products – www.jaysmodelkits.com So it looks like no US stockist. In the past I have ordered from New Zealand as they normally have them in stock and the postage is not too prohibitive. Following this link shows the price to be NZ$24 which is about US$16, plus postage.
  21. You'll build one, then another, then another, then another................... There are lots of great colour schemes for the RAAF Mirage so one is never enough.
  22. James Goulding was involved with the Ian Allen magazine 'Aircraft illustrated' aand they were probably published in that, my guess being early seventies, but that is only a guess.
  23. From my experience, MMP Books are notorious for their publication dates slipping. Be assured that if it is announced, it will be published - eventually.
  24. Dennis I seem to remember that the Frog fin is short in the vertical plane (memory says by 1/8" but that needs checking) and needs extending.
  25. I love the fact that almost every fighter has steps beside it so that the public could peer into the cockpit. I can never see that happening again in my lifetime, what with 'elf & safety plus security. Those pictures are from happier, simpler days.
