  1. There is a FM Halifax in 1/48... Don't know if it's available though
  2. Looks fantastic. I've recently finished mine - not quite as nice looking as yours. Looking forward to seeing it finished..
  3. Thanks guys I was aware of the history behind the red band and have been interested in doing a model of it for ages. Only I wanted to do one that told the 'whole' story eg with overpainted swastika. This is the only picture I've found so for. Someone at another site said that this plane force landed at Wissant. If this is true, then this plane is an E-1 from 7/JG53 (as stated on the site with the pictures) wnr 6064, forcelanded 05/09/40 (acc to Prien) Thomas
  4. This is the one. Particulary interested in type. Obviously an E-1 or E-3 (rounded cockpit) but which one I dont know as I cannot see the wing armament. The reason for my interest is that this is the only picture that I (!!) know of showing BOTH the red band overpainting of JG53's Pik-As AND the overpainting of the swastika... If you have some more I'd be happy to see them if you have some other pictures of that combo... http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109E/Bf-109E...3.7-(W9+I).html I see white codes and I think a white rudder, but the rudder might be yellow ?!? Thanks Thomas
  5. Oh my god, what an absolutely fantastic paint job. I'm really impressed!!
  6. Anybody got some painting instructions more specifically what scheme is under the white wash?? Working on converting the Revell 1/32 Ju88 to a C-6, and painting stage is approaching... Thanks Thomas
  7. Thanks John Did you measure the drawing (haven't gotten that far yet) or what. The 1" is that for each cylinder or overall aka diameter. The R2600 had a stroke that was ½" shorter than the 1820 so that for each cylinder would match the 1". Could it be that the crankcase was of smaller diameter? Thomas
  8. LOL - who are you to spoil my AMS ?? You're right off cause... But does anyone have a drawing?
  9. I'm looking at starting my first major vacuform project, and so I'm doing a bit of research right now as to what is available in detail bits and pieces. A couple of those I'm interested in use the R2600 engine, but that is not available in 1/32 - well yes it is but I hear that engines and things are not that great. So I was doing a bit of digging. The R2600 was the Twin Cyclone and as I understand it, it was if not based on then at least in close family with the R1820 Cyclone. Looking at photo's I cannot see the difference in the individual cylinders (I know the 2600 was 2rows of 7 cyls and the 1820 was 1row of 9 cyls, but the individual cylinder) so I was thinking I could use the cylinders from two vector R1820 to mount on a new - scratchbuilt - crankcase. By far the most complex to build (nicely) would be the cylinders with their aircooling fins while the crank case would be managble. Can anyone confirm that these two engines used the same cylinders? I know that they have same bore and the stroke is different by half an inch and they are from the same company so I'm hoping someone saw the benefits of reusing parts... Also "Pretty close" is good enough for me. Anyone got a good drawing of the R2600 with major dimensions? Thanks Thomas
  10. Looks fantastic, and the Ju188 is one awesome looking machine. Very tempted, but I'll need to consider the finances... As for the price, I've bought bits and pieces for my current Ju88 build from Pastor John and found the price to be quite reasonable. There is a lot of stuff in this conversion so you won't hear complaints from me... Biggest problem is to find room for another Ju88 - and getting it into the house without the missus notice :-)
  11. Those looks great - are they Combat Models or something else? Especially interested in the Gladiator - always loved that plane. Excellent work!
  12. Didn't know that, very sorry to hear! Excellent builds - and TWO WEEKS ??? Impressive
  13. Wow - excellent work - did you notice I linked to one of your builds above Good to hear about the transparancies - I was wondering about that particular bit. It seems the resing package is mandatory for the new kits - hope they are better than the ones you got. I was looking to get a B-25 when WingScale announced theirs - had actually begun to buy some bits and pieces, but that stopped. Will wait and see what happens with WS with the B-25, but a Nick or a Havoc is really one of those I had been hoping for but not expecting anyone to release. Perhaps I'll try one of those... I'm sure it will be a huge challenge, but then I enjoy building more than anything else, so this is perhaps the way forward... Thanks and again - beautiful builds! Sorry to hear that. Enjoyed his builds...
  14. Dont know about the new kits and especially the F4, but these have been around for some time and quite well known over on Hyperscale that I used to freqent. They are - as one of the below builders mention - just shells in vacuform plastic where you need to do the rest (= A LOT). Definately not the usual Hasegawa/Tamiya kits, but I do play with the idea of doing something like this... just for the fun (?!?!?) of it http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/messa...060/B-26+Update http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/messa...274061/WIP+B-26 http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/messa...B-24J+Liberator
  15. Bored, so I while browsing I came across Combat models webpage. I did know about them and what they had, and I have been tempted a lot. I do know it's vacuform with lots of DIY. But the thing is that they've added a lot of new kits since I was there last. A 1/24 F4 Phantom (not my cup of tea, but still... wow) and several 1/32 kits - Ki-45 Nick, A20 Havoc. And THAT is my cup of tea!! For the record, I dont have any connection to these guys. http://combatmodels.us/
  16. You've got nothing to worry about - looks fantastic. Looking forward to following your progress
  17. Excellent job with a fantastic paint job. More pictures please... Is there a story to the diorama and the title??
  18. Amazing ! I usually dont like cutaways, but your's are so beyond that... WOW Spitfire was awesome too !!
  19. Looks great - I had no idea Thailand had Harriers... The idea with the photos is great - very creative ! Nice build
  20. Hi everyone I've been lurking here for a while, but now it's time to present myself ( aka I've finished something ) My name is Thomas Lund, 42 years old and living in Hasselager near Århus in Denmark. I'm self employed with a small consultancy in industrial refrigeration. My main interest is aircrafts WWI to WWII with a few detours (if they are not grey-in-grey that is). I also do a little in cars, motorcycles, tanks and whatever for variation. These are the two very new finishes. First the 1/32 Trump Swordfish. Seeing it on the shelve in my local hs, I was reminded that I wanted to do one from the Bismark attack. Of cause I couldn't remember what type of Swordfish was used, but on the box something about Bismark was written, so that had to be ok. It wasn't. It was a mark II while the correct should have been a mark I. Anyway I decided to convert it by adding ribs on the lower wing (mark II had metal covered lower wings to be able to fire rockets), shorten the exhaust and cut a bit off the oil cooler. Rather easy, but not quite oob. Kit is delightful to build. No problems whatsoever apart from those of my own doing. No, it's not my version of a carrier deck but rather my garden table. :-) Second one is Azur's Hawk 75 French. My second non-mainstream kit and it was a joy to build apart from one thing. I showed paper tissue into the cowl opening to mask before spraying but when I removed it 3 cylinders came out with it. Rather brittle I think. Fix was neither easy nor pretty. But all together very fun to build. Contructive criticism is very welcome. Thomas
  21. That look great. Seems like a lot of work, so I'd be interested in you opinion - as I really like the YAK-3 - is this the way to go or is it better to wait for the one Special Hobby announced (knowing that you haven't seen it yet, but I assume you have a general idea of these, hmmm, mainstream limited run kits) ??
  22. Excellent !!! I've just finished this very kit and I had loads of fun - will take photo's soon, I promise. One thing that gave me grief though, was that I shoved paper tissue into the cowl to mask off the engine for painting, but when I removed it 3 cylinders came out with it I don't think that I was that violent, but broken they were and the fix was neither easy nor pretty. So I suppose some of the plastic is brittle, so watch it. I really like what you did with the cockpit - looks excellent with the placards. I chose to do mine in natural metal though - cannot remember where I got that info ?!? My decals straight from the sheet stuck immediately they hit the surface and so I destroyed the first national insignia but managed to get another from a helpful soul on the net. After that I used micro-set to be able to position them, so watch that too! Looking forward to seeing it finished! Thomas
  23. Excellent - this is one topic I'll be looking out for. Love the Tempest and this looks to be a really really good start. Are you taking any short-cuts? Reason I'm asking is that I might follow your lead and I'd like to know if there is any areas that you decide to skip...
