1/32 - Tempest Mk.V , Mk.II and Mk.VI - by Special Hobby
Thomas Lund replied to 172flogger's topic in The Rumourmonger
Awesome !! Had considered kitbashing a Revell Typhoon with a Hobbycraft Fury to get a Tempest. Thank god I won't have to. Really looking forward to this. This one just might be one of those few I will get at once.- 180 replies

1/144 Revell A319 SAS Retro (LN Decals)
Thomas Lund replied to Thomas Lund's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks Guys John - not one in production, but this has been so fun - my first civvie - that I think I'll try some of the special schemes soon. -
This is my first ever civilian aircraft in 35 years of modeling - first one i remember, could be Alzheimer light. In 2006 SAS celebrated their 60th anniversary and as they took delivery of some A319 decided to do a Retro scheme on one. This was the old 'viking boat' scheme that I really love, so this was a no brainer. Decals came from LN decals - I can heartily recommend them!!

1/32 PCM Macchi 202 and 205
Thomas Lund replied to Thomas Lund's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
So now I got some more paint on the 202 so you can see the camo on that one. Pretty happy here, but still - ALL comments welcome. -
1/32 PCM Macchi 202 and 205
Thomas Lund replied to Thomas Lund's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Thanks guys!! Actually my worry was that I think that the 'density' of smoke rings were different on the two wings :-) I did not mention it on purpose as I didnt want to lead you if you didnt see it. But you are right - a couple of rings, especially the one on the left wing root is too stark and I will try to touch up on that one. Overall it was not as hard as I had feared - I love my new airbrush!! -
I'm building both the 202 and the 205 as the kits are almost identical. They will have very different camo's though. Painted the smoke rings on the 205, and I'm not quite sure I like it... So what do you think - please be honest! 202 will follow shortly

Does anyone make a vac-form Fw190D blown canopy and windscreen
Thomas Lund replied to Thomas Lund's topic in Aircraft WWII
Revell spare parts didn't have it. Does anyone have a spare that I can buy? Looking for the windscreen and blown canopy. I suspect the parts from an A model will fit too. It's the new(er) hasegawa mould. Thanks Thomas -
I'm building the A-1 kit as Rudolf Sinners striped bird. This one has the WGr21 rockets mounted under the nose on Wikinger shiff bomb racks. These are included in Trumps 1/32 A-2 kit so if you have that kit and are not going to use them, eg not mounting the big bombs, then I'd be happy to buy them. Regards Thomas

1/144 Revell Airbus A319 SAS retro
Thomas Lund replied to Thomas Lund's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Thanks guys -
Hi Guys In 35 years of modeling I've NEVER done a civilian plane, but this retro scheme I could not pass on. In 2006 SAS celebrated their 60th anniversary, and as they at the same time took delivery of some A319's it was decided to do a retro scheme on them. This is the one, based on Revells A319 with Lima November decals. Destined to go onto a stick for my first in-flight display (first one i remember, ya know Alzheimer light)

That is some awesome work, and just your second model - wow, I am impressed!! We all have some bigger or minor problems underway, and the important bit is how you deal with it. You did great! All the things you pointed out I simply cannot see. The basic modeling is great, cannot see anything there, painting and weathering is very very nice so all in all - great job. Absolutely only thing I can say is that the port side national insignia bars look like they are not of equal size. Could be the angle though. I'd be proud if this was my second model. Welcome and I'm looking forward to more from you. Thomas

Excellent choice - far better than the usual two tone green over light blue. Looking forward to seeing you progress with the painting. How was the build?

Uhmmmmm - not at all a daft question - 'nuff said... Think I need to consider what to do now - go with this half decent work or buy two new sheets from NZ

I got this LVG from the very first batch back when they came out. Started it earlier this year. Put on the upper wing lozenge decals. Out of the box (off the paper?) it settled down very very nicely. I gave it some MicroSol/Set and it wrinkeled up some. Found out that Sol/Set perhaps was not a great choice. So I bought a new set of decals from WNW and stripped the old decals off. Ok... on with the new, this time the lower wing so I could learn before moving on the more visible upper wing. Off the paper very nice again, but having learnt the lesson I tried coating them with future. But with that they wrinkeled a bit and lifted in some large-ish areas - with future for chrissake !! Deciding to move on to the upper wing those decals also laid down nicely. I noticed a slight color difference to the original kit decals, but do not know if that mean anything. But when after they had dried the bottom decals - coated in future - har lifted along the edges and in some places curled up. Getting very sick of this - any kind of advice sought. How about decals from another supplier?? Should I have given them a (model master is my choice) coat of gloss clear?? Thanks Thomas

Wingnut Wings Albatros D-Va 1/32nd scale
Thomas Lund replied to Jon Kunac-Tabinor's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Looks fantastic I used micro sol as well on my LVG, but the decals wrinkeled ever so slightly, so I've removed them and bought a new set of decals i NZ. No problem for you with that? Haven't had the courage to go at it again... Will soon though -
Awesome !!! Excellent finish on that bird Wouldn't have noticed the slack rigging if you hadn't mentioned it - it's not that bad. Think I'll dig out my stalled LVG when I come home tonight

Bought it because it's the only one I know of that has a Jumo 211 engine that I want to try to fit into my Ju88. So I cannot say anything about the fit into a Stuka kit! Apart from that it is nice - not fantastic, but nice. I see Hannants has it listed as "Aircraft engines and propellers" although it does not include a prop. I have a (two actually) Ju87D props that I bought by mistake ( http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/QB32022 ). It's the one with the squared off tip, and if you need it, you can have it

Up until now I have been unvilling to depend on mail order to get paint, so I have been limited to Humbrol enamels. Not really happy with that so now I think I'll give up on the no mail order thing. Soo.... what paint would you recommend for airbrushing of WWII aircrafts (mainly). Ease of painting is first priority with correct color representation a (very) close second. Thanks Thomas

Does anyone have any good drawings of this combo and how they connected to each other and to the fuselage. Found some pics via Google, but no real good drawing. I need to scratchbuild one in 1/32... Yes I did see the threads on LSP... Thomas
