  1. Ooooh, I wish you wouldn't do that. One PB4Y later..... Especially when our dollar is the pits against anyone elses. nevermind though, it was a good price, even with post. Steve.
  2. Thats a beaut Tony, I must have missed this issue, my supplies of AMW have been a bit sporadic of late. I'm sure you mention it in the article but where did the decals come from? Iirc, the Matchbox Tallboy Lancaster kit came in this scheme but I can't believe they would look as good as this. Steve.
  3. Hi Patrice. Hu116 or Hu 163 are very good matches for RAF Dark green. Steve.
  4. Thats nice, really very nice. I've one of these in my stock, I disremember if its the Revell or MB, the 1st I think, which I intend to finish as a RAF transport similar to yours, a local man, Arthur Bradshaw, flew one of these during the war & I've pictures of it in his book, that'll do me I reckon. I've enjoyed following this build. Steve.
  5. Thanks, its going to be a shame to cut them up, still, these are the sacrifices we make. Steve.
  6. On the 30th August 1940, Fw. Ernst Arnold's 3./JG27 Bf109E-1 Yellow 12 was attacked & damaged by the Spitfire Mk 1 of New Zealander Flt Off Brian Carbury , 603 sqn. Arnold was forced to crash land his aircraft & taken prisoner. His aircraft was only lightly damaged & subsequently put on display. No, I'm not doing to do any dios of the action of crash landing or display, simply pretty much OOB builds of the two subject aircraft using decals from the Southern Expo BoB 70th anniversary sheet which featured both of these aircraft. The lack of mottling on Yellow 12 is an attraction, as is the JG27 badge on the cowl. I'll need to modify the wing to E-1 configuration. Carberry's Spitfire will be OOB. I'd have used the Airfix Bf109 if only they'd included the earlier canopy with it, a chance missed here I reckon. The obligatory sprue & decal shot. The 1st tentative steps. I know I'm late for the off but hell, I've still got over 3 months right. Anyway , some interior colour splashed around, Vallejo 70886 for the RLM02 in the Bf109 & Hu78 lightened up with some sky to hopefully be closer to the paler shade Supermarine used on their Spits. The fiddle will start from here with some interior details & the ICM kit has some flash to be tidied off some parts, but it doesn't look like it'll be too hard a build, I hope
  7. Nice that, I'm not a steam expert but a 2-10-0 strikes me as an unusual configuration. Its a super looking model though just as well steam has no political affiliations. Steve.
  8. I think I'll hitch a lift on this thread too, I've this kit plus the Azur one for this & the Pz.24 in Greek service like Stew. ( I should've just cut & pasted his post) I've seen some nice jobs done on this elsewhere & as you'd guess from the kits I have, I find it quite attractive. Steve.
  9. A really nice superb job on what is a strangely attractive beast for what was pretty much a lash up. I rather fancy one of these myself one day, in a smaller easier to make scale though. Steve.
  10. Mine turned up today too, not had a chance to devour it in its entirety yet but what I'm seeing is a Firefly fest of the 1st order. Something to savour & anticipate. Steve.
  11. Photo shopped against a larger back ground, it wouldn't take much to make me believe I was looking at the real thing. This is simply superb. Steve.
  12. +1 on the early hood, I'm doing this kit with mods back to an E-1, mainly for the canopy, though from what I've read it not that good a fit, might have to do the open canopy thing again rather than try to get them to line up. I've looked at using the canopy on the Airfix kit but not as good as on the ICM kit & thats nothing flash as a dry fit. I'll be looking in on this for guidance & inspiration Edward, not to mention education & illumination as well. Steve.
  13. Looking good, you did well to get the yellow on the rudder over that black so well. Steve.
  14. Its a nose that only a mother could love but having said that, its also a stunning piece of modelling to my eye & looks very feasible. I'm picking that late in the war, an all over resray with squiggles would have been deemed unnecessary, also, many aircraft were seen with mismatched panels as damaged aircraft were canniblised for parts. Yours looks just fine in that respect to me. Steve.
  15. Thats a cracker Steve. A very iconic Nth African Emil & an easy one to judge against others efforts. Have no fears, yours is right in the top echelon imho. Steve.
  16. Not much I can say that the mob before hasn't said, it is a bit nice though & as for your canopy frames, I'm just flaming jealous, they're flipping excellent. Steve.
  17. Thanks Dave, I kind of thought that would be the case be couldn't see anything to confirm that & with no unit codes it was harder to be sure, for me anyway. Steve.
  18. Knowing me I've missed it somewhere along the line, but, what Squadron are the SEAC marking for? Steve.
  19. Did ya get that orl right Dave?. Steve.
  20. Neat story, I like that a lot. To heck with the others on your bench, crack on with this one, they'll still be there when this ones done. Steve
  21. Hi Tony, thanks for that, you might just have swung the vote. & I think that what you say makes the best sense, still after seeing A6Intruders build, where does sense come into it? Steve
  22. Can you give us a link to a reference for this. I've this kit, anything to avoid doing another Red Arrows one but would like to get it right nonetheless. Steve.
  23. Liking the look of this a lot. I've tried most iterations of the Gladiator but not the Frog one but from what I've seen iot makes up Ok, I'm keen to see what you can do with this. Steve
  24. Nothing to add but what an interesting thread, thanks Alan for raising it & eveyone else for the info contributed, A few weeks ago I'd not heard of Terence Gunion Lovell-Gregg. Now, he has become another Kiwi I feel involved with. Thanks all & Britmodeller for the opportunity. Steve.
  25. I'm so pleased this build has come up & that Jerzy has chipped in, its given me the impetus I needed to hunt these kits out & do something with them, the only conundrum is, do I follow A6Intruder's lead with a Ju 86K or Jerzy's lead with a modified Ju 86 civil. Aaaagh, I hate decisions like this, they both have an uber convincing case with their beautifully modelled Junkers. Steve
