  1. I think you might need some black added to it, by itself I can't see Hu 25 being dark enough, there may be other options, hopefully someone else can chip in on this. The model itself is coming along very nicely. Steve.
  2. Last Stand in Singapore by Graham Clayton, the story of 488 RNZAF during their time in defence of Singapore & Batavia. Clayton's father was ground crew with 488. Well into it now & it is proving to be very readable. Steve.
  3. Taking shape nicely now, I'll look forward to seeing these come together, I have a couple in stock. The Star on the foredeck makes for an interesting variation. Steve.
  4. To go into discussion as to the reliability of anecdotal evidence is pointless in the context of this thread I think but one thing that does seem to be missing is that the Italian 12.7 is not the same as the Browning .5 but was in fact developed from the British .5 Vickers round, also referred to as the 12.7x81. For export, Vickers developed a semi rimmed round, the 12.7x81R also used by the IJN A6Ms in the Ho 103 machine guns. They were sufficiently effective for these air arms & I've long mused that had Britain developed a airborne version of the Vickers .5, Spitfire & Hurricanes armed with 4 of those might well have been more effective than the .303s they were armed with & possibly well before the 20mm cannon became reliable. I didn't happen as history attests so I'll file it under daydreams. Steve.
  5. This has come up really well Colin. I'll be looking forward to your photos in the Gallery. Steve.
  6. I accept & respect that & can appreciate how frustrating you can find such inaccuracy, but all the same, the way you put it across was pretty blunt, bordering on rude. It is unusual here to get something as blunt. Others try to critique such inaccuracy in gentler more respectful manner. The fault is obviously with the decal maker & not everybody has the resources or skill to draw the conclusions you have from from the black & white photo you posted. My thoughts on this anyway. Steve.
  7. Wot I said in the WiP plus just MARVELLOUS. Steve.
  8. Dmitry, it wasn't your comments I was referring too. I thought the criticism you received above was more blunt than is polite but also wondered if @PaK_Wagen was using google translate & it came out different to how he intended. I should have tried to be more clear in my first post. Steve.
  9. Very nice Jon, I like what you've done with this. 👍 Steve.
  10. Regardless of this, which could have been pointed out more tactfully but perhaps google translate may have had some influence there?, I think this is a very nicely done model & I like the way you've posed it. It does look very smart. Steve.
  11. Not wanting to pick a fight but to me a statement like this needs quite a bit of qualification before it can be taken as proof of the superiority of the .5 over a 20mm cannon. Was this a proven trend or an occasional or anecdotal incident. I suspect that Tom Neil's comment refers to possibly only an isolated instance or two & maybe were the reported cannon rounds being stopped by essentially the same armour during the BoB more as reported in intelligence reports after the heat of battle than proven in fact. It would be interesting to know if these phenomena were investigated objectively during the war? Steve.
  12. I like that, a super job indeed. I had to scroll back to the top to check the scale, I thought I was looking at 1/48. Steve.
  13. That looks fantastic Harry. I don't weather but enjoy it when I see it done well & this is certainly a treat for the eyes. 👍 Steve.
  14. This looks like an extremely interesting build, good progress so far. Apart from the resto aspect of it, it is not a kit we see built very often so there're bound to be some good tips along the way if I know your builds. Steve.
  15. Yes please, I can think of several that involve minimal rigging. Steve.
  16. Nice that. I especially like your colours, they look very "right" to my eye, as does the whole model. It catches the look superbly . 👍 Steve.
  17. A Hasegawa AV-8B harrier II from Plazajapan.com & a set of Desert storm decals for same from @0viking0 Paulus Victor via ebay. I see a dark & light gray cam'd Marines Harrier in my future. Steve.
  18. That is looking good Jean-Roger, a top finish with those old paints. As to the lack of Ocean Grey, I would just go with Dark Sea Grey, I think I'm right in thinking it replaced Ocean Grey post war & wouldn't look too amiss on your Mustang. Steve.
  19. This is looking a bit brilliant Jon, lots of good ideas for the one languishing in my stock. I think you've struck a good balance between super detail & practicality. 👍 Steve.
  20. Coming on nicely Craig, says I after quite a catch up. I'm always keen on a Belgian scheme & would like to do this or similar in 1/72. Will try to keep in touch with it from here on. Steve.
  21. I'm a bit of a craft beer tart, mainly of the Hazy IPA or Pilsner style but my regular beer is a decent little Pilsner style lager which also happens to be the cheapest at the local supermarket. A halfway decent Dark Rum topped with Ginger beer keeps me happy for something to a bit stronger. Steve.
  22. Interesting in the extreme. I'm generally fascinated by anything to do with heavy transport so I'll keep an eye on this. Steve.
  23. All Four Engines Have Failed, by Betty Tootell, the story of Flt BA 009 flying into a cloud of volcanic dust over Java in 1982. Picked up from the local library after seeing this thread. A good read. Steve.
