  1. Hi Rich, Whats the manufacturer of that kit, it's an odd scale for a 727, I know there are a few 1/96 scale kits particularly of the Viscount, Caravelle, Britannia and Comet from the old Frog and Lindberg moulds for which there are a few sheets available. Take a look at TwoSix decals, Ray produces some excellent decals and specialises in some of the old British operators. Good luck in your search. Ant
  2. Hi Barrovian, I think I have an Inpact kit in the stash, I'll check it in the next few days, if it's there I'll scan the instructions for you. Happy modelling Ant
  3. Cheers Merv, Thanks for the info. That's a great photo, it does illustrate the compound curve of the nose though, although Revell have exagerrated it somewhat, looks like a dab of Mr Surfacer or Tippex might even things out a tad, and a strip of foil will replicate the strap. Cheers Ant
  4. The reason behind my statement Merv, is that the Revell kit bombs just look awkward, with a change of curvature just behind the fuse section, most pics I've seen of British bombs tend to show a smooth curve to the nose profile, it would be great if you can find the photo's. BTW I'm currently building a Saudi GR.1, anyone know if they use British bombs or USMk80 series ?
  5. There was a resin pit a few years back, IIRC from KMC, I'm sure it's never reappeared in any other range. Flightpath make some excellent detail sets, but you have to love photoetch to appreciate it, they also do a conversion set to make an F.4 / F.5 / GA.11 too. There's a couple of resin bang seats out there too.
  6. Marcel Dassault was by all accounts a man with a very fiery temperament and strong nationalistic tendencies, he never regarded Jaguar as a Dassault product, it was originally a Breguet design and then BAC got involved and beefed it all up, it probably really bugged him that firstly the Adl'A and now the Aeronavale was considering using them instead of his own Mirage & Etendard. After all a few years later it was not uncommon for Jaguar to be pitted against Mirage in sales campaigns around the globe.
  7. Paragon used to do a 1/32 SkyShadow, but I think that was before Revell released their own GR.1 kit with the various mods for the British version, I recently passed one on here, you never know someone else might have one, or perhaps we should badger Neil to put it back into production. The dedicated Revell GR.1 sprue gives you as well as the SkyShadow, 4 x 1000lb free fall bombs (with a dodgy nose shape unfortunately), 2 x 1000lb British pattern LGB's, the undernose LRMTS pod, the sway brace fairings for the shoulder pylons and a couple of Hindenburger tanks pluss a couple of other specifically British parts. You still get all the IDS weapons parts too, but only the BOZ pod and smaller fuel tanks are relevant. All is not lost though as many GR.4's now carry 2 BOZ pods as the SkyShadow is now becoming obsolete, it might be easier to find a second BOZ pod and to model that load out instead.
  8. Hi Whitestar, I have a non tank compressor, and I also use the brass adaptor piece that you mention, I haven't drilled the hole and have never experienced any back pressure problems that I'm aware of. It sounds as if your compressor has a pressure relief valve anyway, does the hissing increase as you regulate the pressure down, it sounds as if your compressor produces a fixed output pressure and by winding in the regulator it vents excess pressure off to give you the desired output. If so then you should have no need to drill the hole as your already venting to atmosphere through the regulator. Hope this helps. Ant
  9. Hi Bill, I found some old Set & Sol a while back, just after I bought 2 new bottles , admittedly they weren't 14 years old (probably more like 5 or 6), I tried them and if anything they work better than the new bottles, maybe they've become more concentrated over the years. Try them on an old scrapper first.
  10. Oohhhhh luvverly, they will come in very handy for the 1/32 Saudi Tornado thats currently working it's ever way ever so slowly across the workbench. I wonder if you've got any decent ones of the right side, I'm looking for details of the camo scheme on the BOZ pod, I've searched the web fruitlessly for clear pics of it, theres a few of the SkyShadsow but the BOZ pod pics are like rocking horse to find. Thanks for posting them
  11. I've bought both AMRAAM line and Flightpath stuff over the years and in my opinion there is no comparison in quality, Flightpath wins hands down every time, yes it's a bit more complicated but the end result speaks out for itself.
  12. Hi Gary, Sorry mate missed your post, if you look at the guys other clips there's also one on armour building and one on cars and others on Gundam stuff, all built by different guys but some excellent tips coming through despite the language barrier. And the guy with the U-boat, has the job I want.
  13. Ok just how do you embed the You tube clip ? Never mind, figured it out now with the aid of Mike's FAQ
  14. ...but the pictures speak volumes. U-boat build part 1 U-boat build part 2 Worth a look
  15. Hi Karl, That would make sense as Frog and Hasegawa had a mould sharing agreement in the late '60's early '70's and the Hasegawa Lightning is essentially the Frog kit, with a few updated parts. I didn't think it was a new mould, and I also thought it didn't look like the Matchbox one.
  16. I've just been browsing the Revell website and under the new releases section is the boxart for their October release of a 1/72 Lightning, now is it the Matchbox kit, enquiring minds need to know . Revell Lightning BTW forgive me if this has already been discussed Nice boxart anyway. Take a look at the 360ยบ view
  17. I thought I'd check this site out unfortunately I'm getting an "access forbidden" message anyone else having problems. Cheers Ant
  18. The legend is that the Army stores in Aden had no Light Stone paint, so in a ad hoc attempt at camouflage they mixed red oxide primer with white and got the pinkish hue that actually blended in well with the red dust terrain they were operating in. Probably an urban myth but sounds feasible.
  19. The Italeri, Matchbox and Revell kits are all the same basic mould with mods to suit the specific boxings. I can recommend the AFV Club individual track links, really make a difference to the appearance of the finished model. I think I have a Matchbox one in the stash that includes UK decals. Let me know if interested. Cheers Ant
  20. Love the boxart, and I'm sure thats preshading I see there
  21. I believe that it was an administration base for USAFE back in the heyday.
  22. Got to admit it was a difficult decision, and it was almost a toss up between the final 2 but I went for dswoofies Lightning, just for the quality of the NMF if nothing else.

    Heating paint

Definitely works on Tamiya spray cans, in fact in my experience they positively need warming to get an even finish.
  24. MOD has finally confirmed the order for the 2 new CVF carriers : BBC News story I would have preferred traditional carrier names but at least HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales have a bit of history.
  25. Airfix released the Trumpeter Challenger 2 at much the same time that's where the confusion probably arose.
