    Tamiya putty

The question was where in the UK Tamiya putty is available, so it does not help much that somebody are using Milliput... I am not living in the UK myself, but I usually bring home a tube or two from Telford every year. I should think Wonderland (in Edinburough) and Hannants sell it as well. Tamiya putty and Milliput are two very different products. Tamiya putty has to be put on in thin layers, otherwise it will sink. It is very good for filling joints etc. Tamiya putty dries fast and is easy to sand. Milliput, on the other hand, is a two component substance that dries slowly. It does not sink and it can be smoothed out by water. It dies rock hard within a couple of days. But within a few hours it is easier to sand. Myself I use Milliput for "heavy sculpturing" like rehaping a fuselage section. Usially in two or three turns. When I have got the shape more or less right, I switch to Tamiya putty to smooth out any roughness.
  2. Israel also operated the UC-64 / Mk.VI, not the Mk.IV. It would be like sticking Spitfire Mk.IX decals on a Spitfire Mk.V model.... Nils
  3. That would require more than just new decals. The USAAF C-64 was the Norseman Mk.VI which was different from the Mk.IV. Nils
  4. That is not up to me. You must ask Hannants if they will take it in. Nils
  5. A very well built model, Ray. And your P-3 collection is really impressive. 👍 Nils
  6. Good to know, John. We will bring some "kransekake", "fenalår" and "akevitt" from Norway, then. And possibly more... 😊
  7. Brexit has made it difficult for European manufacturers to participate. The "Overseas lunch" has been for the branches though, not for the manufacturers or trade stands.
  8. Not my experience. I met many people from overseas IPMS branches who have attended MSW for many years before Covid. Unlike previos years there was not set up, and no place for, the usual lunch table in the overseas' block.
  9. What happened to the IPMS Overseas lunch last year? One of the highlights of the SMW for us visitors from abroad. It was such a dissapoitment that it was cancelled. Nils
  10. Please note that I am questioning this specific photo and aircraft. There is no doubt that the Norwegian Hawks generally were painted green all over (with aluminium control surfaces). There might have been some reason why one aircraft had black wing undersides (e.g. for training/identification purposes). Does the photo actually show this, or it is simply the shadow that does it?
  11. I agree with what you say. It is good to match my thoughts with others opinions. Bear in mind that the aircraft were not used in action, but as advanced trainers.
  12. Although there has been some disagreement on the actual colour shade on the Norwegian Curtiss Hawks in Canada, most have agreed that there was an overal greenish colour. However a recent book (with mostly old, well known photos) argues that the aircraft on this photo has black undersides of the wings (and possibly upper sides as well). I must say I am not totally convinced. But it would be fine to get others opinions on the matter. Nils
  13. Thanks Björn. I have already found this photo. It gives an impression on the markings, but not in detail. E.g. what was the size of the registration letters...? Nils
  14. I am looking for the colour scheme for the actual aircraft in the kit, CF-BEQ. I have good general 3-view drawing of the SR-9. Thanks for the link. Many nice models!
  15. Does anybody have the plan view painting instructions for this model? I am planning to build a 1/48 scale model (from the AMT kit) and I have good reference photos of the fuselage sides to make my own decals. But not of the wings upper and lower surfaces. I am hoping this model has drawings that show the colours and markings. But unfortunately it is sold out. Nils
  16. After taking a look, I actually found a 1/72 decal sheet for the BOAC Mosquito Mk.IV (72-106). Please order through the web address below. The Mk.VI had quite different markings which cannot be used for the Mk.IV. Nils
  17. Unfortunately these decals are sold out for 1/72 scale. They are still available for 1/48 though.
  18. Very nice model! I notice that the H letter on the right side is somewhat lighter than the other code letters.... 🤔
  19. Hi Michael It seems that your questions already have been answered. There is much more information in this topic in the book though. Nils
  20. The Airfix 1/48 Meteor F.8 has underwing roundels that appears to be 52" in diameter. According to Modeldecal this was not a standard size. The nearest is 54". Does anybody have information on this? Has Airfix got it wrong? Nils
  21. First I thought that the 333 Sqn Mosquitos only had the flags on the left side of the nose. All the photos I had seen from the right side did not show the flag. Then two photos eventually appeared, although we cannot identify the serials or codes. This is described in my recent book (https://www.europeanairlines.no/product/britiske-direktiver-1941-1945/) - although the text is in Norwegian. Nils
  22. Very nice model, and a good subject! I do not think 333 Sqn Mosquitos carried bombs, so you better switch back to fuel tanks. One minor thing - the flag on the nose should be in the wind direction on both sides. Most aircraft had the flag only on the left side though. Nils
  23. The new decal sheet will be for a "new" anniversary scheme. It will also contain standard squadron markings and general stencilling. Nils
