I would love a Norwegian F-104 sheet from you. Is that something you're considering? I think the only 1/48 Norwegian F-104 option now is on a Xtradecal sheet.

I did the F-104G some years ago. There are still lots of these sheets around. As one shop sold them out cheaply, there are some local modellers who have "piles" of them, and might be willing to sell. Anyway, I see no big market for a reprint, unfortunately.

I have good Norwegian F-5 decals from my Kinetic kit, but I would definitely be interested in a Vingtor set too.

Well, if the Kinetic decals had been "good", I would not consider doing a Vingtor Decals set... 😉

The new sheet will not be available until May though.

Some Vingtor decal sheets arrived today- a RNoAF F-16 in 1/72 and RNoAF F-86 in 1/48.

Also bonus decals for a 1/144 Starfighter which are lovely in their own right.

Really impressed with the quality of both design and print, and the excellent customer service. I’ll definitely be buying more sometime. Thanks @Vingtor

Glad they arrived rather fast (10 days?) to the other side of the world.  Hope you find the decals easy to work with.

  4. I have acquired the new Airfix Sea King kit, without the decal sheet. This is not a problem as I have an aftermarket decal set that I will use. However, these decals are designed for the Hasegawa kit, and a few items need to be replaced ti fit the Airfix kit. I can print these myself, but first I have to draw them corectly on my computer. I  thus wonder if somebody could scan (parts of) the Airfix decal sheet for me. It is only the items marked by red that are required.

Is it my eyes or the lighting or does the next aircraft in line have a different style roundel on the top wing?

The photo is taken shortly after delivery to Norway, and are having the British roundels replaced with Norwegian insignia. That is what we see in the foreground, the new marking being measured up.

  6. According to some sources, the upper side camouflage colours for flying boats (Sunderland, Catalina) changed from Extra Dark Sea Grey to Medium Sea Grey in 1947. There are however photos of 333 Sqn. Catalinas taken early 1946, showing rather faded light grey upper wing colour. These photos apparently also show black serial numbers, which also should not came to effect before 1947.

Can anybody help with information on this?

  7. I have built many F-16s during the years. These are the ones that still remain in my display cabinet.

Starting with the first prototype in 1/72 scale. Based on the Hasegawa YF-16. Upgraded with a modified resin cockpit, jet nozzle, jet intake and trunk and wheel wells. The canopy is from the Hasegawa F-16A, slightly modified. Vingtor Decals.

Also including the "looser" - the Northrop YF-17 Cobra. Also 1/72 scale. I built this some 25-30 years ago. The model is based on the ESCI kit, heavily modified. Finished as an F-18L demonstrator. Custom made decals.

Next is an 1/48 F-16AM of the Norwegian Air Force. Based on the Hasegawa F-16A with various modifications. Vingtor Decals.

Finally the F-16/79. Also this 1/48 scale, built from the Hasegawa F-16B. Vingtor Decals.

More F-16 models to build in the years to come... 😊

  8. Looking at photos of XV762 and other first generation Harriers in winter camouflage, they were all roughly brush painted in white distemper. So so masking and airbrushing white would not look correct. Simply hand brushing with white paint would give the best result.

Apart from the front section of XV762's starboard fuel tank, it seems that all external fuel tanks from the 1975 deployment were left unpainted with distemper. I.e. not white as on the Airfix drawings.
