  1. Interesting new releases. 4 "must-haves" for me- the 1/48 Chipmunk, and the K2Y ambulance ("Ice Cold in Alex" diorama, anyone?) in the new toolings and the beach buggy and HP42 in the vintage range.
  2. <Trevor McDonald> And finally! Built for a Movie Stars" GB elsewhere, positively, definitely, my final model of this crazy year! Eduard's 1/48 Bell X-1 "Machbuster" Chosen for the X-1's participation in "The Right Stuff".
  3. I have just finished building a 1/48 Monogram P-51B, and a HobbyBoss 1/48 P-51D. After losing a wheel from the P-51B, a kind person sent me wheels from a Tamiya P-51D. All the different wheels from the three kits were more or less detailed versions of obviously the same wheel. The tyres of all the kits had different patterns. I finished up putting the HobbyBoss wheels on the Monogram P-51B and the Tamiya wheels on the HobbyBoss model. I think all Mustang wheels were (basically) the same, and there were many different tyre tread patterns used. I even remember seeing a photo somewhere on the internet which showed two differently-patterned tyres on the same aircraft, so I think tyre tread pattern doesn't matter.
  4. Pat, you are either very, very brave or a complete loony! Very brave- completes a Fonderie Miniature 1/48 Halifax before breakfast, throws together a Roden He111 at coffee break, and finishes off with a MPM Hudson! Complete loony- chooses a Unicraft "Kit" for a Blitzbuild! Well done, lad. Keep taking the medication . . . I thought I had mental health issues!
  5. One more completed! Built for our very own "Interceptors" GB, this is HobbyBoss's 1/48 P-51D Mustang with AM decals.
  6. From the messages from Vladinir Sulc on FB, it seems that the 1/32 Bf108 is no more. They initially thought that their Tonka was gone too, but the Tornado items turned up elsewhere in the warehouse! There is also a lost L-29 Delfin, but not sure of the scale. About a million sprues have been lost (200,000 kits!) and lots of packaging. Special Hobby will be supporting Eduard with moulding services until they recover. Mr Sulc predicts they will be operational again in early January.
  7. better than airborne submarines
  8. My final entry for this GB is a P-51D of the US Army's 8th Air Force. I was enthused to build this because of the Nose-Art on the plane. It was called "Jan", which is my wife's name. When she was told about it, she was also enthusiastic for the build, and has followed it closely. "Jan" was assigned to the 334th Fighter Squadron of the 4th Fighter Group of the 8th Air Force, based at Debden. She was usually flown by Lt. Robert A "Bob" Dickmeyer. Build thread can be found here. This completes my involvement in the "Interceptors" GB. I'll be back for the Desert Storm GB next month with a 1/48 Warthog. Thanks to our hosts Col., Anatol Pigwa, and Enzo Matrix, for a great and well-patronised GB. Merry Christmas (it hasn't actually been cancelled!) and a Happy New Year to all!
  9. She knows about it, but she doesn't know it's finished! I'm very lucky in that she is very supportive of my hobby. As SWMBOs go, she's among the best! She actually wanted me to build "Jan" in a bigger scale, but my budget interfered with that. also, you can't get the decals in 1/24th! She'll know shortly, I post a photo of every model completed, on my FaceBook page . . . So, it's completed, here's a piccie, more very shortly in the gallery . . .
  10. Ah, you meant the secondary link! Now I get it! That site probably is gone, there's a lot of that about . . . Sorry, didn't get it immediately.
  11. It's beginning to look a bit like "Jan" now! "I'm ready for my close-up, now, Mr Fifer54" Ouch! not happy with that photo! I'll post another soon!
