  1. Hannants only have the first page. I want to know what options are on it.
  2. Ok, still looking for the P1127 and Kestrel.....
  3. Too Cool! Thanks for the linky! Way hey!
  4. Can anyone recommend the appropriate Aeroclub seats for the following? Airfix P1127? Spanish AV-8S (a-la Harrier GR1) did they have Stencil seats or the MB ones (which one?) GR3? GR5? GR7? AV-8B+ Italian? (Anyone notice a trend here?) F-5A/B, F-5E Swiss, F-5F, F-20, X-29? Dassault Super Etendard? MB-339? Hunter F6, Jaguar GR3, Buccaneer S2, I could go on but that's enough. Actually, this might be a useful pinned topic. E.g. Sea Harrier = Martin Baker Mk10= Aeroclub EJ010/Airwaves whatever/Pavla XXXX
  5. RF-8G 1/72 scale, using Falcon Vac conversion and Hasegawa F-8E kit Giorgio, I'll send you more details later. BTW, who took your crusader home from dublin?
  6. Ok, I thought I was losing it. Sees 168 on the instructions for the Nimrod. Goes to local model shop for said paint. No space on rack for a 168?????????? Nor was there a 168 on any tins..... Asks and gets the DIY-store-style 'HUH?' from the plonker behind the counter.. (not the usual one.) Come home and check all my Humbrol colour charts, from nearly 10 years ago to one just before they folded.... NO 168! Thinks, I'm going mad or they want me to use a paint that's been discontinued for over a decade! Sees 168 on Tim's Victor in the MM GB over on ARC. WTF? Finds this thread and sighs relief..... Now, where can I buy this in Ireland?
  7. Ford Cortina Mk4, 2.0S, 2.3Ghia, 1.6GL and estate versions please. 1/24, 1/32 and maybe also 1/16. In addition, Cortina Mk3 2000E/GXL hybrid, to do the Life on Mars car, and will share a lot of tooling with the above. OK, maybe a better subject for Airfix than tamiya. I would buy a Tamiya Escort BTW, but would prefer a tina.... but then Tamiya did a Sierra XR4i.... And please too a Seat Leon 2007 (my own car!) A guy can dream, right?
  8. Nice. That 'lived in' look! A suggestion (not a critisim now); dip the canopies in Klear (the stuff meant for floors, get in the Supermarket; crap on floors, great for models) holding them with a tweezers on the frame part and let it wick away on kitchen paper a day or two before you intend to paint and glue them. The Klear brings them up really shiny (and even fills small scratches) and makes the plastic look THINNER than the 2 or 3mm it actually is. So it looks like in-scale plexiglass rather than polystyrene. Then again, I could be seeing dust on yours..... Nice work, very nice. Just re-read your post. These are your first models? No way!
  9. I've even seen that on real aircraft, including (shock, horror) an F-14 Tomcat.......
  10. Well, I have also found some problems with Humbrol paint, especially the 27003 Polished Steel MetalCote and 27004 Gunmetal MetalCote. I did contact Hornby, and made them aware of my concerns. I have to say I didn't complain too loudly either, but rather as a concerned customer instead of an angry/unhappy one. After returning a pair of useless tinlets to the LMS for exchange when new stock arrived, I was dissappointed to find their replacements were the same. Hornby did respond to me, and while I'd rather not quote correspondence here I have to say they do seem to be taking this VERY seriously, which is good news to me. I also have to say, from my experience, there seems to be a large amount of old stock (i.e. manufactured before the Humbrol/Airfix collapse) out there that may still be on retailers shelves. I know that my local shop has got new stock in that still has the old Humbrol Marfleet Hull address on it. I have some new Hornby-manufactured paint on order and I'll let you all know how it is as soon as I get it. I think this issue is being dealt with, and I encourage anyone with problems to first; go back to the shop where you bought it and ask for a replacement/refund. This will weed out any bad old stock faster from the system. If the next tin is bad, go back again. Or second; contact Hornby direct rather than bashing them on forums. If the paint has the old address on it, however, I don't know what they can do for you, as that was under old management. Cheers, Roy
  11. F-4N Phantoms CVW-14 USS Coral Sea Op Eagle Claw Some Tomcats... Some others.. Some ships... Enjoy!
  12. Ted, I think I said so before, considering the amount of prints being sold at airshows alone, I think it would be worth his while. Also, doing it about now is the ideal time (I think), as he can tap into the nostalgia factor. All the kiddies his paintings left such a huge impression on (me included) are of the age now where we are already nostalgic AND have some money to splash about. Just going on the feelings shown here and other sites about Matchbox kits I think he has a ready market, not to mention those who bought - and played - with Matchbox kits as children, who may have not continued to model but kept a life-long interest in aircraft, afvs, ships, cars etc. As long as they are not going for silly money (£999.99 for a 'limited edition' sort of thing). We might llike to buy more than one! Heck, half the reason I buy some old MB kits from Ebay (even though the Revell re-box is in the LMS) is FOR the box art. And we all have our favourites! Mine (one of many) is the Dooleybird, I read on some other site of a modeller trying to replicate that scene with the Airfix 1/24........ Cheers, (another) Roy!
  13. Dunno about Lauda But I think that Gerhard Berger is in there.... looks like him anyway. Then again we can't see the other side!
  14. I have built the 1/72 Italeri kit. Mine looks like a Raptor. Didn't use much filler. With careful sanding before glueing used NO filler on the 'Terrible' upper fuse joint. It was cheap too, as all Italeri kits are here. I reckon it was value for money. If I had paid Hasegawa or Tamiya prices for it I'd have said no, but for €12? No problem. Worst kit ever? I think not. Best? No, I don't think that either, but it can be built into a nice representation of a real (still classified state-of-the-art frontline fighter that is not all that camera friendly) aeroplane with a modicum of modelling skills. Each to their own I suppose. But then I still enjoy building Matchbox kits, so what do I know?
  15. Is this still available??? Looked around at Telford, didn't see any. Is it any better than the Airfix GR.7 (aside from I presume the better decals?) Does anyone know where I can get one? It's just that the scheme on the box is a plane I've seen... Cheers, Roy
  16. Was it just me or did she also look a bit twitchy in flight? Seemed a bit of a 'hot' landing alright! Thanks for the vid. New to me! Roy
  17. Hi Buzby061, as said above, they were silver painted, NOT natural metal. It was a very smooth/glossy silver paint, I think a good sprayed coat of Humbrol Polished aluminium with maybe a coat of Klear is the way to go. Alclad probably have something to suit as well. The dayglo bands are just that, Dayglo, but the intake lips are red as are the stripes on the ADF aerials (either side of the nose). The leading edges of the main wings had a strip of a more matt finish silver paint. This only went back a couple of inches. More photos here; http://www.irishairpics.com/database/searc...ster&u=type Dunno about the FM kit, never seen one (or indeed anything from that brand). Heller 1/72 is nice tho.... HTH Roy
  18. I do know the flaps and slats both drooped automatically when the wing was raised, they were linked. Didn't think they could when the wing was lowered. When planes are dead as per AMARC anything could theoretically be possible. If they were hydraulic, they probably drooped when powered down for a good while. You might find something here http://www.cloudnet.com/~djohnson/
  19. Airfix/Heller A-7E with Superscale decals..... Fujimi and Italeri are recommended too! MiG-29, I'd go Italeri. Easy build.
  20. Anything from Humbrol 71 Oak, to 74 linen, 121 Israeli Pale stone, 148 Radome Tan (!) to even 61 matt Flesh will do, unless you really want to be specific. Remember, it's a kinda natural fibreglass colour, and even then it varies from plane to plane and fades/darkens over time. Use what's in the paint stash and don't worry about it. HTH, Roy
  21. Have ye not seen this thread? http://www.britmodeler.com/forums/index.ph...c=5179&st=0
