  1. Just been viewing the video of the Lexington, with the Devastators which were found in quite good condition, shame they could not bring some up for restoration, as there are none left, Devastators are one one of my favourite American navy plans, probably because I remembering building the Airfix one many many years ago, your model is superb, love all the detail and paint scheme
  2. Hi Pete I saw this at a model show a few years ago, looked superb then, I know this was a difficult build, I had the same kit but sold it on, such a lovely aircraft shame it was put in the hands of Mach 2, unfortunately I am not a great fan of Didiers models, but you have turned the model into an excellent end result
  3. Excellent build Neil, I would imagine you’ve done all the WW2 allied bombers
  4. Very nice, just the right amount of weathering for these aircraft
  5. Excellent build, I can see you added rivets to the model, I have the Zvezda Mil-8MT which looks a very nice kit,
  6. Very nice build, Heller made some nice kits back in the day, and still scrub well with the modern era of kits
  7. Looking forward to the B52 get its coat of paint, does your wife know you are sleeping with it 🤣
  8. The new tooling GR3 looks superb, I think Airfix need to do the same with the Sea Harrier, as that is not the best
  9. I built this kit some time ago and it is a lovely kit to build
  10. Bagemot decals do a scheme for quite a few BE-12 including the Egyptian scheme
  11. Lovely build, superb modelling and finish, I have one of these half built, that your build hopefully will inspire me to finish it
  12. That’s good news my preferred version of the Anson especially in the white and grey scheme
  13. Excellent build throughout, love the subtle weathering and faded look of the paint work
  14. Very nice, love the subtle weathering, I imagine you added the riveting yourself, or is that on the kit, I have the Airfix Dakota too do, and already done the Esci kit which was a nice simple build, but this kit looks a nice kit as well
  15. Thanks Robin, I would imagine the design had to be strong to withstand the conditions it worked under, especially the wing shape Yes lovely looking aircraft, I actually acquired it when the Aviation Hobby Shop in West Drayton closed and every thing was marked down at 50% Thanks, the rivets did not take to long to be honest, but they certainly a little over size for this scale, although the actual aircraft is covered in them Cheers, the model was primed using Tamiya white fine primer, the yellow and red were sprayed with 3 coats and went on OK Thanks, I have seen a lot of these built up with t he rivets left on and they look perfect, but still to my eye over scale for 1/72 Thanks, they are very colourful Cheers Tom, I took it to the club night yesterday, but had a problem with the undercarriage so did not enter it, probably to many speed bumps on the way their, I will sort it out for next month and try to box it up so the undercarriage does not take the weight Looking at photos they are kept clean to a point but suffer from sun bleach on the top surface and wear and tear on the top panels and engine, which I tried to replicate Thanks, the yellow and red were OK, I had primed it white so was not to bad in the end
  16. This is the Revell boxing of the Heller kit CL-415, which was first produced by Heller as the CL-215 in 1980, and in 1998 had new parts added for the turbo prop engines and wing extensions. The model is depicted in Spanish Airforce markings of the 43 Group which has its headquarters at the airbase at Torrejón de Ardoz in Madrid and deployed to 7 detachments in Spain which include Santiago de Compostela, Talavera la Real, Salamanca, Zaragoza, Albacete, Malaga and Pollensa (Majorca). These aircraft are not restricted to the national territory of Spain but can be called upon to participate in fighting fires in other countries, such as Portugal, France, Italy, Greece etc, The pilots of these aircraft do a incredible and hard job, especially in harsh environments where there are mountains to overcome and maneuverability can be difficult especially trying to contain a fire in such a tight area. I actually used to see these a lot when I lived in Majorca for a short time in Santa Ponsa, flying over head and always liked the look of the aircraft. For such a old kit it is actually a really nice model to put together and I had no real issues with fit, just a bit of good old fashioned modelling with some filler and sanding, the whole model was sanded back to remove the over scale rivets and re-rivetted using a rivet wheel. Paints used are Tamiya XF-3 yellow and Tamiya XF-7 red, and Vallejo Silver, bare metal adhesive chrome for the exhaust pipes, the model was then glossed using Johnsons Klear painted on then a spray of Alclad gloss to seal every thing in, Flory wash and pastels was used to bring out the panel detail and weathering, I used photo etch parts from NH Detail, to add some extra detail to the model, the kit was missing the large hinge on either side near the engines, so these were 3D printed, the metal undercarriage was from Scale Aircraft Conversions as the original undercarriage would have been too flimsy, the decals came from Series Españolas from Spain.
  17. My favourite scheme for the Sea King, I had the Revell boxing and was going to do the same all yellow version with extra detail but alas sold it on, I normally spray Tamiya fine white primer from the rattle can, give it a slight rub down with a polishing cloth then spray Tamiya yellow, works well for me
  18. Fabulous build, love the extra detail you have added, plus the diorama you have created
  19. I always have a look at their Corgi range, and as they have both Short Stirling and the Sunderland, I think we will see these soon in 1/72 plus the Halifax at one point, all these kits have been in the Airfix range and certainly need to be re-tooled to Airfix excellent standard. I would love to see a 1/48 DH Devon/Dove, but alas it does not drop bombs or has machine guns LOL
  20. Another great build, you used the Christmas school holidays to finish a few models then
  21. Very nice Cub indeed, I had this kit many years back but in the end I sold it
  22. Although the Airfix Sea Harrier has it critics as its not the most accurate kit, I believe the Esci one is still the better one, but in my mind it can build into a very nice kit, as you have demonstrated
  23. Without a proper colour photo it is difficult to tell on a black and white photo, the liberator had yellow squares painted over the olive drab camouflage, so could possibly be they may of just painted white stripes on the B17, although these aircraft were painted very colourful so other aircraft could recognise them in flight, it may well of been painted red and white https://www.vintagewings.ca/stories/polkadotwarriors
