  1. My wingnuts LVG, took some time but I finally finished it.
  2. Very well done Peter, the base adds that little bit realism. cheers Des
  3. Another photo of the DH-2 by Roden. This shows the pre-shading on the wings and fuselage, still needs to have the control rigging added and wing decals. The stitching around the nacelle is painted on then holes drilled at the end of every stitch, I used a 0.2mm drill bit. I also added a strap around the upper wing fuel tank and fitted rivets plus a fuel line and breather pipe. The rigging is 0.17mm monofilament made by Maxima in Chameleon colour. I hope these photos will inspire others to build this kit, it is well worth the effort.
  4. This is an earlier photo of my build, it shows the seat with belts, the two straps, cockpit padding, holes around the nacelle for the rivets, some engine detail. The whole lot still needs a coat of matt clear. It was a very interesting build. I would recommend this model to anybody interested in WW1 aircraft, not an easy build but very rewarding. I would have liked to have put more detail into the model but my old eyes and hands will not allow it.
  5. This is my completed Roden 1/32 scale de Havilland DH-2. The kit requires a lot of attention as detail is very lacking in Roden's molds. I added engine details in the way of valve springs, rocker arms, push rods and plug leads. I added the two straps around the nacelle with buckles, cockpit padding, rivets around the nacelle, cockpit interior detailing, scratch built wicker seat, fabric wrinkling, pre-shading, plus more. The rigging was a nightmare but it all falls into place eventually, it's easy to see why it was nicknamed the bird cage. Overall, it builds up to be a nice looking model. Roden have produced a kit of a very important aircraft, it is a pity they didn't put as much effort into producing this kit as they have done in their previous 1/32 scale WW1 aircraft models.
