  1. Here are some photos of my completed Junkers. I enjoyed this build and I am happy with the result. Thanks to all those who took the time to look at my build photos and a big thanks to everyone who left very nice comments, much appreciated. Des.
  2. The wingspan is large for a 1/32 scale WW1 aircraft measuring in at 50cm but it doesn't look out of place on my display unit along with my other 1/32 WW1 aircraft. Cost wise, it is a bit more than the usual Roden 1/32 WW1 aircraft kit but like I have said before, you get what you pay for and with this kit you get a lot. I have had a lot of fun building this model and I think anyone else who tackles it will get as much enjoyment as I did. Cheers Des.
  3. These pics show a dry fit of the top wing with only 4 of the 8 struts. The control cables are also fitted to the rudder and elevator. Tail skid is painted and fitted as are the wheels. Top wing is complete apart from the radiator and a coat of matt to the under side. Should have this model finished by the end of the week ??? Des.
  4. Here are some more pics of my progress so far, it has been a little slow this week as I have been entertaining visitors. The decals went on beautifully, even settled down well over the stitching. The tailplane and rudder are now on. These are the engine cowlings which I will be leaving in the open position so as to display the engine. I have added the internal bracing and drilled holes in the strengthening frames. I also removed the plastic hinges and replaced them with metal. The upper surface of the top wing is complete so now I will tackle the under side. Wheels are finished so they can now be fitted along with the tail skid. Hope to have some more done soon. Des.
  5. Hi Dave. Here is a picture from a very old book I have called "The Battle of Britain", might give you another idea for your scheme. Sorry about the quality of the pic but it is an old book. The aircraft pictured here crashed in Kent. Des.
  6. Very nice Peter, your first lot of photos sure don't give any hints that it is so small. I can see why I stick to 1/32 scale, my old eyes and hands would not have a hope of doing what you have achieved, very well done. Des.
  7. The dust has settled and the clean-up has been done so modelling has re-started. This is what I have done so far, not a rapid advance but I'm getting there slowly. Des.
  8. I worked on the F111's when I was in the RAAf at Amberley. The dump and burn was a regular occurence while I was there, very spectacular sight especially when they performed it at very low altitude. Also seeing an F111 taking off at night in full afterburner, not just the sight but the sound as well, very very nice. Des.
  9. Very impressive photos..here is another one Des.
  10. Beautiful...thought you might like this photo.. Des.
  11. Sounds as though you had a bit of a torrid time with your build, but going by your pictures you ended up with a fine looking model. I like the scheme you chose and you have done a very nice overall job, well done. Des.
  12. Here is another photo of a Tri-plane. This is a Bristol Braemar of 1918, not a bad size aeroplane for it's day. Des.
  13. Thank you for all your nice comments. Work has been at a stand still the last few days because we have had two terrific dust storms. Everything is coated in a thick layer of red dust so any painting is out of the question. Once the winds die down, which are gale force at the moment, I will have a huge clean-up to do. The dust is so fine it gets into everything and with the strong winds it gets through every little opening. I hope to post an up date on the Junkers soon. Des.
  14. Looks very nice and you have done a good job with the finish. They are not a pretty looking aircraft but they do look good in the air, especially when they used to fly at 100 feet along seven mile beach then turn right at the Shoalhaven river and return to HMAS Albatross, sure brings back a lot of memories, thank you. Des.
  15. Brilliant job Mark..my hat goes off to you....a beautiful looking trio... Des.
  16. Thank you Haris for your kind words. To repair the 3mm gap at the ailerons I extended the outer wing attachment panels. It is probably not correct but it is an easy fix and looks the part, matches the lower wing. I will post some more pics as I progress further. Cheers Des.
  17. Thanks Glenn. Your tyres look very realistic so I will give it a go on my next build. I am very impressed with your Camel. Thanks again Des.
  18. Beautiful looking model, I've never seen one in that colour scheme, very well done Glenn. What colour did you use to paint the tyres? Des.
  19. This is just a quickie update. I have started the painting, the fuselage is almost done as is the upper surface of the lower wing. I'm doing this one as 134/17 Flieger Abteilung (A) 263 hence the two tone green on the fuselage. The rudder is painted gloss white ready for the decals, then a coat of matt clear. Progress has been a bit slow over the last week, I have been battling a few health problems but all seems ok now. I hope to have some more pictures soon. Happy modelling Des.
  20. It gives me great pleasure to display my models but it gives me an even greater pleasure to read all the wonderful comments you are all leaving. Thank you. Des.
  21. Very nice....a beautiful looking model and well finished.....well done Des.
  22. Very nicely built and a very impressive paint job....well done.
  23. Very nice model Anthony, well done. I'm looking forward to seeing some more photos. Des.
