It's a good kit but replace the windscreen if you can!

That's a beauty! Great paint job and weathering although I believe those markings are RAF SEAC rather than RAAF. Cracking job all the same!

Great success - the canopy fitted with a little cyano and plasticard encouragement which was to be expected given that it was made to fit the Tamiya kit. I painted the internal framing before fitting it.
There's a few bits of tidying up to be done then it will be time for paint. That will have to wait until next week as I'm off to the US on business.

Cheers for now,
Chris

That's a cracking Venom!! I reckon masking those stripes must have been fun....
Very neat and tidy paintwork! Wouldn't it be nice if Airfix did one of these in 48th? We can dream!

Wow great paint job and a very attractive scheme!!!

Just a quick update on this one, it's not dead! I now have the vacform canopy and from an initial look it seems like it will fit. I've fitted the wing lights and faired them in also. Should get a few days at the bench this week so will hopefully post and update soon.

Very nice Beau! I'm building this one at the moment too. Hope it looks as good as yours!

Superb work! I have this kit and if it looks half as good as yours I'll be chuffed! Regarding the bomb loads, is this any use?

Great job on an interesting scheme! Getting that shark mouth to fit the Volkes filter can't have been easy but it looks flawless!

Thanks for the comments gents!

Good job on a couple of rarely seen schemes! Can definitely tell the difference between the natural metal and HSS

Looking good! That scheme is very smart. I've actually gone and bought this kit after seeing this thread!

Nice Spit and interesting background, As the others above said, I think you've nailed the colour. I believe these low altitude PR missions were known as 'dicers', I.e. dicing with death!!!!

Great model of a beautiful machine. I have a few of these kits in the stash, I shall be saving yours as inspiration!

Hi folks!
Finally received my Montex markings masks so managed to get this finished. It's the Airfix Spitfire XII mashed together with a spare (length corrected) Hasegawa fuselage - I'm not a big fan of the Airfix fuselage as I think it looks too 'plump'. Rudder is a spare from an Eduard IXc, wing chord reduced to match the Eduard planform. Kit box, instructions and decals were destroyed by a leaky roof back in the UK, hence the national markings are from the spares box, codes and serial are by Montex.
Thanks for looking!
Chris
p.s. please forgive the dust - it's hard to avoid it in the desert!
P.P.S. links updated to Imgur in the wake of the photobucket debacle
