Thank you for the kind comments!
IanC the Vallejo colours used were 71110 US Dark Grey and 71302 Sky type S. They came with the Vallejo RAF coastal command set.

Good morning!
As stress relief from the god-awful Revell Mosquito I decided to build a Tamiya kit and chose the Beaufighter TF.X. Loosing sight of my plan for a nice easy build I added the following:
Aires resin cockpit
Changed Elevators to the correct earlier style and added droop
Added the internal exhaust pipes and braces to the engine cowlings
Quickboost hedgehog exhausts plus stretched sprue braces
Internally detailed the navigators station to match the cockpit
Scratch built Yagi/Rebecca aerial and bomb rack
Rescribed the wings to represent the gun panels and dingy stowage
Plated over the landing light
Doped fabric over the cannon ports and wing guns as well as deleting the extra set of ejection ports
Rockets pinched from a Tamiya Mosquito to replace the pitiful kit items, arming cables and plugs added
Xtradecals decals
Paints were by Vallejo and final flat coat by Windsor and Newton. There is some confusion as to wether this a/c had the serial NE425 or 825 but since I did not have any suitable decals to change this I stuck with Xtradecals' NE425.
Coastal Command's early 'pimp-my-Beaufighter' configuration with bomb racks, rocket rails and the ASV aerial certainly makes for a busy looking model!
Thanks for looking,
Chris

EDIT: Here are some photos showing the cockpit and elevator mods:

Having just wrestled this kit into submission I can confirm that you have to remove a lot of material from the interior bulkheads and floor to get the fuselage halves to fit. It's like they were designed by two different teams!
The rest of the kit isn't much better. I'm certainly glad it's done with and in future the Tamiya kit will be my mossie of choice!

Good morning all!
As part of the DH group build I decided to drag the Revell Mosquito out of its long, lonely storage and get it built!
This was a mistake...the kit is a dog! Fit was poor and the canopy had to be thrown away due to a large mould flaw running through it. In addition, the wheels are too big, the gear legs too short and the spinners would look more at home on a Lancaster! Here is a full list of changes made:
Gear legs extended and wheel guards added from stretched sprue
Ultracast wheels
Spinners reshaped
Canopy replaced with a vacuform one plus lots of plasticard
Decals by EagleCals
VHF aerial from stretched sprue
Nose window replaced with acetate
The model was finished with Tamiya acrylics and Windor & Newton Galleria flat varnish. For more info, the build thread is here:
Photographing the model was a challenge as the desert sun is rather warm! Bearing in mind the real Mosquito's tendancy to suffer glue failure and fall apart in hot climes I took these as quickly as I could and returned the model to it's air-conditioned home! Even so it is now being closely monitored for signs of the wings sagging! Anyway that's enough chat, here are the photos:

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoyed looking at the finished result more than I enjoyed wrestling with it!!!!

Great job Tony! I've got this one to do in 1/48 so I'll be using yours as inspiration!

Both look great to me, as does your collection! Glad to see I'm not the only one running out of shelf space!!!

Thanks Ozzy!
She's finally finished!!!! Fought me to the end as expected, today's flies in the ointment included replacing one of the (cracked) nose windows with clear acetate and adding the VHF aerial from stretched sprue.
I'll take some better pics over the next few days, in the meantime I'm going to catch some relief from this pig of a kit!!!!
